July 5, 2025Jul 5 We shall see. My RTX3080 with 10GB VRAM was right up to 100% VRAM usage at times but now have plenty of headroom with my new RTX5080 with its 16GB VRAM and that's with a resolution of 2K. I hate to imagine how much VRAM those running at 4K must be eating up. July 6, 2025Jul 6 I have a 5070ti (16 gigs vram) and running a 49" MSI at full res and up to 4K with so far zero problems. MSFS2020/2024, XP12. Settings cranked up. Interestingly 2024 puts less draw on my 5070ti with more fps.
July 6, 2025Jul 6 Haven’t tested as the latest drivers release 576.88 caused a few issues: 1. Default to 240Hz refresh after install so my screen is black (no signal) as I run thru an HDMI 8K splitter than maxes out at 120Hz support. As a result I had to directly plug my DP capable monitor to PC and bypass the splitter. Once I got an image (at 240Hz), I was able to log into Win11 and set the refresh back to 60Hz or 120Hz and then run my splitter again. 2. Also got a DX12 error in MSFS 2024 tonight, something I never experienced in prior drivers … sent report to nVidia. 3. Also got some missing textures (black building and black aircraft) in MSFS 2024 which never happened before. A quick browse on nVidia’s forums and many user other than myself reporting issues with 576.88. My take, if your current nVidia drivers are working, don’t update. I think vram use is one of the big improvements of su13 anyway, right? i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

This isn't placebo since the Nvidia changelog for that version says optimizations where carried the out to reduce VRAM usage. July 6, 2025Jul 6 Needless to say that if you use TAA this is irrelevant. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
July 6, 2025Jul 6 If you are using TAA and have a value above 100, you are no longer using TAA but SSAA. Not sure why Asobo confused these two VERY different Anti-Aliasing techniques into one slider setting that is identified as TAA but at least they do clarify in the description hover message. SSAA is a much better Anti-Aliasing process with better image quality but comes with a performance penalty. DLSS is another Anti-Aliasing process Rob.
