I flew a short hop in FS20 this morning. IFR from KPVD Rwy 05 to KBOS Rwy 33L, via Benn, Cohas & Nimoy. ILS attempt didn't work. Came through at 1,800', a height at which all the other aircraft I have ILS'd into 33L have picked up the glide slope. When I hit GS & VLOC1 the aircraft maintained altitude. I suspect it has something to do with NAV1 & LOC. In both FS24 & FS20 I have not heard the 110.70 Mhz 'morse' that I normally hear. I think all the other aircraft [GA & tubes] that I fly into 33L have a LOC button, which I can't find in the F406. This appears to be the missing piece of the jigsaw. Thoughts? T45
July 21, 2025Jul 21 Glad I seen this post, I was about to pull the trigger on getting it. I love twins, but I guess this is a hard pass for now.

July 21, 2025Jul 21 Further to all of the above, trying last go in FS2024 when I needed to focus closely on the 9 button AP panel, & noticed, very dimly written on the top RHS button, "VOR LOC". So it has an LOC button, its just not working at the moment. T45

I am done supporting venders for incomplete products, especially something like this that should have been caught in testing. Until then I will continue to fly the 414. I love the 406 and hope its fixed sooner rather than later!!

In FS24 the AVN AC switch has 2 positions. Up is labelled '1' & Down is labelled '2'. Neither position activates the AP panel VOR/LOC button. Apart from the AC button, which is activated by the rocker switch below the throttle pedestal, all the other 'live ' buttons on the AC panel have their ID in white, written on the button [FD, HDG etc] The VOR/LOC & NAV1/NAV2 buttons on the AC panel have no white markings & don't respond to the hovering mouse pointer. Essentially dead. T45 Edited July 21, 2025Jul 21 by Treetops45

I'd sit tight😀 I thought I had updated the F406 on Saturday but on checking FS24 version, find it is dated earlier than that in File Manager. Since then I have been wrestling INI Manager to try & rerun the update. So, a caveat, things may, or may not be quite as bad as I thought. Will advise once I have sorted the INI Manager situation, then the F406. Probably tomorrow. T45

Put your C Card away😀 After an uninstall & reinstall, got the FS24 F406 v1.0.1 running, but the ILS failed & it flew past KBOS 33L at 1,800', about a half mile to the RHS. VOR/LOC button is still dead & I can't see ILS working until that button is activated, & works. T45
July 28, 2025Jul 28 Loving this plane. However, would like some recommended power settings (tables) for cruise... any ideas? I see the old Carenado one for FSX had these - anyone got this PDF?

Here's the real life POH, don't know how well it is modelled in the sim: http://www.aeroelectric.com/Reference_Docs/Cessna/cessna-poh/Cessna_Caravan_II-F406-POH-1986.pdf

TDS is rated as the best Garmin unit to ever be in any sim. It’s an actual Garmin Trainer unit. For those who don’t require full fidelity such as me, I find the PMS has several ease of use functions while in VR. Here are some pros of the PMS unit: - Navigraph not needed to obtain updated NAV data - Uses MS Charts (LIDO/FAA) so no Navigraph required for charts in the unit - Interfaces with EFB - Import Flight Plans directly - Live Weather and Traffic Radar - Syncs data with MSFS so includes all airports and bush strips - Supports extended map features such as Navigraph FAA VFR Sectionals - Less expensive - Integrated into the sim so no need to run external program - Can change volume knob to function as a zoom knob - Customizable map so that multiple pages with user defined flight data can be displayed - Pop out panel supported Edited July 28, 2025Jul 28 by Gulf76
