So, your main gripe is really that you don't have the money to properly migrate to a more capable sim platform with all the add-ons you want? I can empathise with that, been there in the past.  B

  • Never looked back? Then you might be lost if you are reading/posting in this MSFS forum. Let me help you guide you to where you probably prefer to hang out Link

  • I just want people to be aware that there are other excellent simulators out there.... especially for the OP.... maybe he's happy using FSX or P3D...  But 2020 is great, same with 2024, and also same

I do not agree that the default airports look all that good. They are not even close to the level at which I need airports to be. Only the hand crafted airports are at a decent level of quality. However, none of them are as good as some of the payware works of art that I have installed.

Chris, as a former beta tester of Gary’s airports did he develop his UK airports for MSFS? I remember him saying how much easier it was to develop for that rather than the ESP versions such as FSX and P3D.

I just tried the latest demo of XP 12 yesterday, thanks, but no thanks.

Stock XP12 is a POS compared to stock 2020/2024.  What shocks me is in their demo they only 'enhance' one airport and even it looks lame by comparison to the same airport in 2024.  So in order to get the picture of XP's potential you have to start amending scenery basics, and of course learn a whole new environment.

When I was running the demo, I was thinking about all the things I would have to give up, if I switched to XP from MSFS, aircraft, scenery, apps, etc. etc. etc.   Forget about it.

You and I see this similarly as I think we do most everything else.  Christopher really needs well developed and detailed airports.  I'm so focused on pre-flight setup and flying, managing crew and so forth using SLC I just hardly notice details in the airport I'm in.  Coming most recently from P3D v4 prior to moving to 2020 is probably why I'm also happy with most generic airports in MSFS as they were a big improvement over those.

You'll notice the usual suspects attracted by the sheet in the title came over to lay their eggs in the sheet in hopes someone will convert to Xplane.  Why else would they be here other than to add to the negativity any way they can?  Scoffing at your comment about airports in MSFS.  And as you well know what the smug ones hope you'll ignore that in the end, all the tripe about physics and flight dynamics pales in comparison to their focus on what amounts to eye candy.  There is a reason why Steamdb shows XP users roughly at less than 10% of MSFS users at any one time--and that's it:  eye candy.  It's what matters to most, including the smug ones, though they're last to acknowledge that.

Yes, he has released lots of UK airports for MSFS 2020 and 2024. He has also released quite a few US regional airports. He stopped developing for P3D quite some time ago. For the record, I am still an active beta tester for UK2000

Indeed he did and quite understandable if somewhat disappointing.

With the ongoing redevelopment of Manchester how up to date is his version? Lots of new gates at the western end of T2 with a new pier. Does he still give you the option of Concorde’s hangar being visible or not?

I just use my imagination when taxiing in the P3D version. 😁
