As of mid-2025, over 12,134 Boeing 737 aircraft have been delivered globally. The 737 is the most widely operated commercial jet in history, used by hundreds of airlines across the world.

✈️ Estimating the Number of B737 Pilots
Let’s break it down:
•     Average crew per aircraft: Airlines typically assign 8–12 pilots per aircraft to cover all shifts, training, and leave.
•     Using a conservative average of 10 pilots per aircraft:

This includes:
•     Captains and First Officers
•     Relief and reserve pilots for long-haul operations
•     Training and check airmen certified on the 737

📊 Estimating the Number of PMDG 737 Pilots
While PMDG doesn’t publish user counts, here’s a rough estimate:
•     Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) has over 10 million users.
•     PMDG’s 737 is considered a top-tier add-on, especially among serious simmers.
•     If even 1–2% of MSFS users own and actively fly the PMDG 737, that’s:

This number could be higher when including users from Prepar3D and FSX, or those who own multiple PMDG 737 variants (e.g., -700, -800, BBJ).

🧠 Fun Fact
PMDG’s 737 is so realistic that real-world 737 pilots often use it for procedural practice, and some tutorials are even co-written with actual airline pilots.

Correct or not, I really don't know.

Did you even bother to check your copy and paste from ChatGPT?

There is not a single number in your post.

Here's a breakdown of the estimated number of real-world and PMDG Boeing 737 pilots as of mid-2025:

✈️ Real-World Boeing 737 Pilots

  • Total B737 aircraft delivered globally: Over 12,134

  • Average crew per aircraft: Typically 8–12 pilots to cover all shifts, training, and leave

  • Conservative estimate: Using 10 pilots per aircraft, that gives us:

    • Estimated total: ~121,340 real-world B737 pilots

This includes captains, first officers, reserve pilots, and training/check airmen certified on the 737.

🛫 PMDG B737 Pilots (Flight Sim Enthusiasts)

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) user base: Over 10 million

  • Estimated PMDG 737 users: If 1–2% of MSFS users own and actively fly the PMDG 737:

    • Estimated total: ~100,000 to 200,000 PMDG 737 pilots

This number could be higher when including users from Prepar3D, FSX, and those who own multiple PMDG 737 variants like the -700, -800, or BB

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

Frankly, I think ChatGPT and the like will kill the internet. I want to talk to real people, but these days it’s impossible to tell. It’s kinda sad.

AVSIM needs to ban AI generated posts and links NOW. This pollution can stay on anti-social media where it belongs.

Yeah. I have no objection to someone posting something helpful from an AI tool, but not the whole word not allowed post.

Get used to be bombarded with AI gibberish, my clients send me 'facts' from ChatGPT so I'm effectively arguing having to argue with it.

It's like something out of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, it won't be long before we have neurotic elevators sulking in basements.
