parking break not functioning after SU3 update??

Featured Replies

.. is anybody else having the issue of  aircraft unable to move because the parking break is not functioning? the graphics show it engaging and dis-engaging with assigned keys but not actually working and the aircraft not moving as if the breaks are locked..

It was working fine just on the Beech F33.

I have heard reports of issues on the Fenix maybe due to a key reassignment for the parking brake that has happened in SU3.

What aircraft are involved in your case?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

For what its worth when I installed SU3 (wasn't running the BETA) my control settings did some weird and wonderful things with the park brake key assignments. Somehow the reverse buttons on my honeycomb bravo both got assigned as park brake toggle....took me a couple of hours to track down that and fix it.

Yup, multiple people have reported this issue. It wasn’t present in the Beta, but it’s an issue in the final release.

I found – with my HOTAS – it had remapped the parking brake to the same button that switches between internal and external camera views. Discovered this by pressing every button on the HOTAS in turn, until I switched to external view and the 172 finally moved; parking brake reapplied going back to cockpit view. So check that.

This is the first time I've had my controls remapped by an update.

This one I can't figure out: the thumb stick on the top of my main stick looks left and right when I push it in those directions. Push left, the view turns to the left; push right, view looks right. Inside the cockpit. In external camera mode, pushing left looks right, and right looks left. It never used to invert this for external view. I can't find a setting corresponding to this. It was late last night when I was looking so I might have been tired and overlooked it, but if anyone can point me the right way (no pun intended) before I have another chance to search through every setting, I'd appreciate it greatly.

I had it on the A2A and the Cessna 172.
Fenix was actually ok.

Easy solution is to type in Parking Brake or even just Parking and then click on each of your devices and it’ll show you what’s mapped to it. Then just delete those bindings.

It is confusing that the visuals don’t quite match, ie it looks like brake is off when it’s still set.

Glad that SU 3 has sped up the controller setting page now, so fixing is a quick job!

Hope that helps!

yup... just checked off all button responses for parking break then added CTRL-Space... no go... still doesnt work.

I was looking for a parking space the other day. I couldn't find one so I gave it a break. Try again tomorrow. 😕

From Discord , Cows said "SU3 recently hit FS24 adding the "Parking brake on/off" and some lighting changes."

I haven't tried the Cows aircraft yet but it did affect a rather nice Freeware Avro Anson.

Yes - quite a widespread problem.   In my case it was confined to my throttle block but I think other folk have had similar issues on other bits of equipment.

Basically, there is a switch, button or lever - or more than one switch, button or lever - on one or more of your bits of HOTAS equipment that have been erroneously assigned to toggle the parking brakes.  So even if you release the parking brake in the cockpit, there is another hidden command somewhere that still has the brake on.

The solution is to choose each of your main bits of hotas (joystick/yoke/throttle block) in the Controls settings and search for 'Park'  Let's say that I did that for the throttle block, the search should list any buttons or switches on my throttle block that have been assigned to Parking Brake.  If there's one that shouldn't be there, click on it then, with the cursor clicked in the assign box, hit Delete on your keyboard and, with the cursor still over the assign box, click Backspace on your keyboard.  This should delete the spurious command.  Search again until there are no more spurious ones left.  Remember to 'Apply and Save' and come out of that and move onto the next bit of equipment such as your yoke, etc and do the same again.

For me it was simple: I found parking brake and reassigned it to a HOTAS button not already in use. It works now.

Prior to that the sim had assigned it to the same button that also switched between cockpit and external camera views, so changing camera enabled and disabled the brake.
