What airliner ?

Featured Replies

So... this kind of question is asked from time to time, but I believe I have never asked it myself here at the Xp AVSIM forums...

The only airliners I have fro Xp12, apart from the default and the free Zibo are two Toliss buses (319 and 32N), the FF A320 Ultimate which I don't even install because it is too problematic / buggy, and the Flight Factor 757 Full Edition.

I would like to add a very good airliner to my fleet.... What should it be?

Hello Jose!

I am very partial to the Just Flight BAe-146.

I’ve spent many hours aboard the real 146 as a teenager (I’m now 50).

In model form, I love flying the 146!

The 146 is, as it was the first time I boarded one, “very different”, aka interesting, with those giant wings above and multiple engines hanging from them, and I swear I can smell the jet exhaust as she taxis around!

I also have the payware ERJ-175 and it is, like the real thing, a model of efficiency and comfort.  I love flying the real things as a passenger, but in sim I want the nostalgia and “weird” factor.

Why not have a look at X-Crafts offering? Like XP, always a work in progress, but their commitment to continuous improvement knows no bounds.

You want big or little?

The JF BAE146 is an excellent mid range airliner, complex and realistic,

Big you cannot go past the Felis B747-200 again superb and realistic.

he Rotate MD11P again a very complex and reaslistic beast (Satisfies the DC-10 urge).

Rotate MD80 for a veteran rear mounted twin airliner - a venerable Douglas with all its quirks,

Sparky's B747-400 again excellent. Believe the Concorde (Colimata) is excellent for those who like them fast and complicated.

IXEG's B737-300 is detailed, realistic and a good one.

XCrafts Embraers 170 to 190 plus in between, as well as the 145LR,

Tollis you got nothing to add there maybe 330 NEO if thats ones thing! Happy now with the Laminar A330 or the AeroGenesis if I want the different engines mods,

The Shensee B720B is payware quality and freeware - brilliantly accurate rendition of the 707, for steam guage folk (you can do it with CIVA INS as an option)

If you want turboprops then there is the FJS Dash8 400 or freeware the Manky Dash 8s 100300400. Starving Pilots Metroliner is very good as well, Even an older Dash 7 that works just fine in XP12 and is basic but a Dash,  some other oddity's about like the Shorts Skyvan by XHangar.

I also have the rejuvenated Carenado Fokker F50 working just fine in XP12 again another nice airliner,

Last there is a very nice Dornier DO-328 turboprop highly accurate, good detail and impressive - cockpit textures are basic but the aeroplane is a gem - authentic avionics - Honeywell set up.

😕 I mistakenly forgot to add the X-Crafts E195 and the JustFlight BAe-146 to my fleet in the OP, and when I noticed it it was too late to edit.... I do have both, although I almost never used either. They were purchased some 3 months ago, and it's probably time to try to start learning each, better than I did the first time.

Well, honestly the X-Crafts was a disappointment 😕  It was, by the tine I tested the version I downloaded, rather limited and buggy for my liking... Maybe I should have gone with the E-Jers?

The 146 I really need to read the manuals and other sources from the Internet and learm how to properly operate it...

@Brian Mackie and @coastaldriver, great suggestions too!

I've long been in the fence regarding the Felis... but I've been told it is heavy to run due to the way it is programmed, based on Lua scripting and due to the many and complex systems being modeled(?)

I believe I will not resist the FF 787 v2, and a good A350 (v2) too ...

I would go with the FF777, probably one of the best addons ever made for XP. Although it is almost a bit „too much studylevel“ and quite overwhelming 🙂

Well,

and I surely have to give the default 330 a new try.

I do like the default INIBUILDS A333 and A332 in FS 2024, but I believe the latest updates to the default Xp12 A330 make it up to at least the same level, not to mention that inertia is, IMO, still more realistic in Xp12 ...

I’d say you should go for the most different from what you already have.

Different ways to look at that, but broadly speaking, Concorde fits the bill. It’s been continuously updated over the years (and a very recent one, too).

and its method of operation is quite unique, and that huge delta wing means it really does fly differently, not to mention that whole Mach 2 thing (which is its very own challenge!).

I can vouch for the Felis being somewhat heavier in FPS than other airliners, but also not to the point where I need to adjust XP settings or anything.

FWIW, my “Goldilocks”addon remains the TorqueSim CitationJet 525 with the TDS GTNX. 🤙

p.s.: don’t sleep on that BAe 146! It’s a lot of work to fly, but man is it satisfying when you finally chock it up. 😎

Q4XP (FlyJSim)

In the same boat as @jcomm with two main sims in use I usually fly stuff in XP that is exclusive or having the better rendition avail. So I would def support Toliss 340, Q4XP, Felis 742 and the Rotate MD11 for the list.

I actually don't find the 742 to demanding on the operations side if you get into it and have done a few flights. The audio checklists are very helpful in this regard. And I will actually never forget the first time I forgot the fuel balancing and the hydraulics overheated 😄

And thx @Bjoern for the Caravelle suggestion. Just got it and will def dig into that one.

Cheers T.

The Caravelle is, for sure, a model I will invest in. I loved seeing those TAP SE-210 V1-R ....

But I have decided to give that Aerogenesis A330 mod a fair try first.

I really like the A330 variants in FS 2024. While not to the level of FSLabs / Fenix  they're very nice and more featured than the default 333 in Xp12.3.0 beta which I tried last night and liked, but felt behind my FS 2024 experience, less in the "feel of flight" and the sounds which are better than in FS 2024 IMO...

I hope the Aerogenesis mod can make me use the 330 more often in Xp12 !

Yes, I know there's that Toliss, but I have good reasons to save $$$ now.... 🙂

BTW: Can anyone tell me how to remove the chocks (and GPU) from the Aerogenesis A333?

I click their buttons on the Ground Services section of they stay green 😕
