Cool App: Real Content Manager

Featured Replies

Allows you to disable default airplanes (and beyond!)

Backup your content.xml BEFORE running this hehe

I had always wished for a favorites selection - so I didn't have to scroll through all of the planes I never use.  This is a good "workaround" for now

How does this help?  Does it speed game loading?  The author never really states the benefits of it.

I think this is also possible with add-on manager as I used it to disable the Frankenstein Asobo jets and the other default aircraft that I never use.

It just cuts out stuff you don’t want to scroll past in the aircraft selection menu.

Well for me I don't have to see a million planes I never use.  You can disable them (I think) in the My Library section but its clunky and slow imo.  But you can also disable other stuff that you can't access via the My Library area.

I think the best way to use it will be to Disable All then Enable the few that you use.

Disable All

Yeh, be careful with that one... i did that and the sim wouldn't get past the video opening screens...so disabling ALL  (unless you know exactly what to keep) could be problematic... i simply reinstalled my content.xml and started again by using the 'select all' in each category and that worked a treat... for me, makes sim start up faster and i don't see all the options of planes in the menu finally... i like this tool so far

Good point, I was just using my imagination without looking closer.

I've long since disabled all of my unwanted addons by editing the content.xml. Except for the TBM which I need for the Black Square 850. If this will enable me to hide the default TBM from My Library while keeping it active behind the scenes then I'll use it. Otherwise, I've already done it.

Thanks for posting this @ryanbatc.

I've been enabling/disabling stuff both via My Library and the AOL (and basic xml editing), but there's been stuff that simply won't go off the list on my system, so if this works it will be wonderful. This has been one of the major irritations for me with 2024, as a man with dozens of addon planes to manage, and especially as half of them show up in the list under their individual liveries as well. You'd think something like these basic menus wouldn't be so complicated for Asobo to code, but apparently .   .   .

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Yeah I basically just use this to disable default aircraft hehe.  But it's more powerful.

Addons Linker does this very well with a backup, built in.
