December 18, 2025Dec 18 Hi i received an iPad m5 13 pro with 1tb of storage with version 26.2 as the os. I have never owned an iPad or even iPhone. Can anyone suggest the best tools for MSFS 2020, And 2024. I ordered a keyboard and stand for the iPad. This thing is pretty powerful by what i have read. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. It's going to be the most powerful computer in your house by some margin (unless you have a Threadripper.. but then you'd know). And the best screen in the house by some margin (unless you have a $10,000+ professional monitor). But for flight sim? Not much to do.. you can use Navigraph, some people use the pro flight apps like Foreflight. I haven't really found the iPad useful for flightsim. Dual monitors are more useful. It is a great device though! 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
December 18, 2025Dec 18 If you fly the Fenix, you can use the iPad for an external EFB...most handy... of course if you fly in VR, all this stuff is......pointless lol i9 13900KF @ 5.5Ghz | MoBo MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi | Corsair Vengeance Black RGB RS 64gb DDR4 3200MHz | MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Vanguard SOC 32GB | MP33 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for OS | Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" 4TB SSD SATA2 | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB | Corsair RM1000X 2021 1300W 80 Plus Gold PSU | Antec Dark Fleet DF700 Flux Gaming Case | Win 11 home | Samsung 65" 4K TV | G512 Keyboard | Razer Basilisk V2 Mouse | WinCtrl URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal / 32 PAC Metal | WinCtrl Ursa Minor Sidestick |Velocity One Rudder | MiniCockpit FCU and EFIS | WinCtrl MCDU | Stream Deck XL | Tobii Eye Tracker | Pimax Crystal Light | Doug
December 18, 2025Dec 18 Author Thank you, I fly mainly the PMDG 737 all variants, And the PMDG 777 all variants. I own the Fenix planes, A319-321, But I have never took the time to learn the airbus's in MSFS Yet. December 19, 2025Dec 19 With the PMDG birds, the Leonardo MD-8x and the TFDi MD-11F, I use a 13" iPad Pro in landscape orientation on top of the throttle quad running two instances of the Aviaworx CDUs side-by-side in a split-screen config. Gives me a nice touchscreen double-FMS setup. I use a 10-inch iPad Air for the Navigraph Charts moving map and SID/STAR/approach plates. On acft that have their own remote CDU but which don't have the ability to run Aviaworx' multiple remote CDUs (e.g. Fenix A320), I swap the iPads and run the panel's single integral remote CDU on the iPad Air and run Navigraph Charts on the 13" iPad Pro. They don't really make use of the iPad's CPU power or memory, but the touchscreen displays are very high res and look/work well. December 19, 2025Dec 19 You can use the iPad for remote CDUs etc. Using apps like Aviaserver. Cheers Steve Hall
December 19, 2025Dec 19 Long flight. Turn on the auto pilot. December 19, 2025Dec 19 Real pilots did this back in the day, more or less. The primary system used for aircraft navigation in the 1930s was the Low Frequency (LF) or Medium Frequency (MF) four-course radio range system. These beacons transmitted on frequencies in the 200 kHz to 410 kHz range. Some military beacons operated slightly higher, up to around 536 kHz. The AM entertainment broadcast radios started and 550 kHz. So they could hear the AM broadcast radio shows. There was no television then, so the comedies, westerns, detective shows, dance bands etc were all on the radio. But I suppose few episodes of Orson Wells, Major Bowes Amateur Hour, or Jack Benny were about cats. Major Bowes would ring a gong when the amateurs were singing poorly or their jokes weren't funny. Edit: when Bowes went on TV in the '40s, there was a hook that came out of the side curtain to drag the poor act lead person off the stage when the gong sounded. December 19, 2025Dec 19 I have two tablets as part of my simpit. One runs Garmin Pilot (paid subscription) and/or Navigraph (free) that both connect to the sim and can be used as a moving map along with all the other features. For Garmin Pilot I use Xmapsy to connect the sim to the app. Second one I use DuetDisplay (paid subscription) to act as a second monitor of which I use Pop Out Manager to put the A2A and Black Square native tablets to have tablet control where the sim tablet acts just like a real tablet. For mounts I use Ram Mounts. Those are two great options. Also with the size of that tablet, you could use it like how I use my support screen for Air Manager gauges.
