Upgrade to Windows 11?

Featured Replies

Is it worth it to upgrade to Window 11 from Windows 10 for MSFS 2024 or is it more of a necessity?

Thanks, Tom

I am not sure if it is worth it in that MSFS runs perfectly fine on both but as UrgentSiesta said Windows 10 is now at end of life and so no more updates and no more security patches; so it is now best to upgrade.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

Do a quick search on YouTube ... Win11 has been absolutely slated - and Microsoft is rapidly losing market share and revenue.

That said, I "upgraded" to Win11 on my Sim PC before I read all that and haven't had any issues - though I don't think anything improved, performance or otherwise.

Absolutely - yes - people are beginning to migrate to Linux (for non-flight sim PCs) - not me, I should add!

Its been going on since the 80s.

If you don't do a quick search on You Tube, Windows 11 seems to be fine
for the home user, as were Windows 7, 8 and 10.
Opinions are best when home made rather than adopted, I find.

Which 'people'?

I'd shudder to see what other 'everybody says so' facts are in your YouTube search history 🙄

Win 11 Pro 25H2 runs fine here, not having the problems you find on YouTube, where every software channel owner creates a video after each update on what's wrong but can't seem to show the problem they describe themselves but in turn is read by everybody and gives them their necessary clicks...
A bit different from Win 10 (context menu and taskbar to name 2) but when using WinAeroTweak, O&OShutUp and WindHawk you can set it up like you had on Windows 10.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base & hegykc MFG Crosswind modded pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S for VR

Trying to get back on topic ... amongst the usual bloat on YT (which I'm fairly realistic about), there's one particular MSFS-related video worth watching, IMHO:

Windows 12 could be this year, maybe 2027. Can't wait.
