March 30Mar 30 ... to install FSLTL!? I've been a happy "customer" of the FBW A320 for years. In their installer, I've always seen the FSLTL base/injector option, but with my measly 3080 - i7-11700K, I always figured it would kill my frame rates. Last week I read somewhere you could just download the base models to populate parked planes at airports with the relevant local liveries. I haven't been impressed with the default options so I decided to give it a go. I was blown away. Actual models that look good in the right spot. I thought I'd see how "bad" the performance could be with the live traffic injector so I gave that a go. I can't believe I've waited this long to at least try it out. I just did a night flight and for the first time I could see tons of flashing nav lights in all directions and there is ZERO performance degradation. Read this and move on, but I just wanted to let anyone who's looking at that option on FBW installer and wondering.... INSTALL IT! We owe so much to the wonderful folks in our hobby that dedicate hours and hours to give use such wonderful tools for free. Honestly, thank you.
March 30Mar 30 Thanks for the reminder. Being on the current SU5 beta I indeed lack some multiplayer planes to see airspace and tarmac populated. so let me give it a try and see Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
March 30Mar 30 There is also a script available (cannot remember where I got it from, probably flightsim.to) that allows you to lower the default 4K resolution of the FSLTL aircraft to much more manageable and less memory-intensive sizes. You do, naturally, give up clarity and detail but flightsim has always been a balance of visual quality v/s frame rate. Pick your poison. March 30Mar 30 Author One of the things I love so far about FSLTL is that I'm not seeing any performance degradation. I have it set to 30 IFR planes and an 8 on parked aircraft and it's smooth as butter. It's completely changed sim flying for me. Everything feels alive now. I always thought my computer couldn't run traffic so I was flying around in an empty world. It's so much fun now.

For MSFS2024, I followed the (very convoluted) texture optimizer process and after a few hours of processing, fired the sim up to find the traffic just wouldn't display. I'm back to using FSLTL's full size models and to be fair, haven't ran into memory issues at this point. I really wish FSLTL would offer lower resolution models. March 30Mar 30 But wait--how do you use FSLTL in a workable way with 2024? Isn't it planes still flying all over the place and circling the airport in chaos? Has this changed? AMD 5830X Nvidia RTX 3060 Win 11
March 30Mar 30 Yeah, FSLTL is impressive. Unfortunately for FSHUD users, like myself, they no longer work together. Time to go back to AIG... Edited March 30Mar 30 by Echoes

March 30Mar 30 I love the easy installation. Lots of awesome looking Airliners and GA. Easy on loading times and fps in msfs 2024. In msfs 2020 fps were good, in v2024 it's much better. Works with default ATC, but it's even better with BATC. Did I mention that it's free? MSFS
March 31Mar 31 It's pretty simple to resize the textures using XnConvert. Create and enable a resize to 2048x2048. For the output, maintain the filename which is default and select Delete original. Then to find what textures you want to resize go to your fsltl-traffic-base\SimObjects\Airplanes folder and search for t.dds and sort by size. You really only want to resize those over 8mb. There should be around 1892 of them and you just select those that you want, and drag them all at once into the XnConvert window and select Convert.. It'll take a few mins depending on your CPU but it works awesome. I've been using it for a couple of years now. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
