Fortunately, that means ANYBODY here is allowed to tell you your post above is absolute rubbish. :)

To me this is not really a good video to showcase a product. His ground textures look like something out of 2002.

Do a better one.

Do a better one.

Why would I? I am not a video creator, nor am I promoting a product, but that does not stop me from having an opinion. 'Do a better one' is just a stupid, defensive, thing to say. I share my opinion because I want people to do better. I don't need to be a chef to know when a meal is burnt.

The way I see it, you only have the right to criticize if you can do it better yourself. Anyone who merely criticizes without having any ability of their own is just a troublemaker.

Rubbish. Of course you can criticise.

You do not need to be a chef to know a dish is burnt, or a director to know a movie has terrible pacing. Valid feedback relies on recognising the end result, not just the technical execution.

Unsinn. Natürlich darf man kritisieren.

The decisive difference between general criticism and constructive criticism lies in the intention and the manner of formulation. General criticism evaluates or finds fault with a behavior and often proves demotivating, whereas constructive criticism is constructive in nature, objectively analyzes errors, and offers the recipient concrete solutions for improvement.

In that case, your criticism is in no way constructive.

Of course it is constructive. I said the ground textures were awful, look like something from 2002, and it doesn’t help the product. I didn’t just say ‘rubbish’ did I? They’re trying to showcase a product, and in my opinion doing a bad job. What more do you want?

However, you seemed fit to call me a ‘troublemaker’, with no ability therefore no opinion, all because you didn’t like my opinion. I think you need to take a good look in the mirror. Goodbye.

What you saw was not an official trailer or presentation or anything you had to pay for, just somebody who poured a few hours of work into something on their own time for no monetarization. If you don't like it, just close the tab. Or at least word your criticism in a civilized way and post it as a comment below the video.

I didn't say it was. Monetisation is irrelevant; the textures do the product zero favours. They look like something from 2002. If it were my product, I wouldn't be happy with someone advertising it that way, good intentions or not.

My comment was in a civilised way, thank you very much. The same applies to you, if you don't like my opinion, just close the tab, or scroll on by, or if you must reply at least word your reply in a constructive manner instead of just 'do a better one'.

Hypocrisy.

I believe @Ianrivaldosmith 's comment was actually meant to avoid comments from some X-Plane naysayers regarding the quality of the scenery.

For me while in some aspects Xp12 starts looking really great, like lighting, some details of airports including the rw and taxi lights, weather rendering and so on, MSFS 2024 is quite ahead overall in terms of World scenery details, specially when Ortho is enabled (this is my opinion !), but I want the new payware product from SimHeaven to really become a success, and I believe it will make quite a difference, so, I want to be able to see very positive examples of it "shining bright", and I look fwd to watch more videos from users showing it's true potential, while we do not have the "New Scenery Engine" that will most probably debut only with a future version of X-Plane.

WRONG!!!!! If I'm going to spend my hard earned cash on a product I have every right to criticize aspects I don't like. That's the problem with people today, everyone wants to kiss the L/R, P3D, MS2020/2024 rings depending on which sim they use. Only thing that does is SLOW PROGRESS, why fix things if no one criticizes!

The saying was true when it was first said way back when as it is today, the squeaky wheel gets the oil!

FALSCH!!!

In that case, however, you should direct your criticism straight to the person who created the product—rather than posting it in some forum that the creator might not even read. Otherwise, how do you expect your "constructive" criticism to actually lead to an improvement?

After all, if a chef has let the food burn, it does no good to voice your criticism to a garbage collector; how else is the chef supposed to improve their skills?
