Scenery distorted (KBOS)

Featured Replies

Hello,

I would like to know if this kind of issue is known. See, the houses are completely distorted. Screenshot taken in FlyTampa Boston KBOS.

Those look more like melted photogrammetry as opposed to objects from a local object library such as you would find in a scenery built for stimulation to me. YMMV. TANSTAAFL. Blue skies,

You have photogrammetry turned on - that is typical. Asobo intends it to be seen from the air, not the ground.

A classic example of why I have PG disabled. That looks absolutely dreadful.

Thank you all.

I've never had attention for that thing photogrammetry thing so I was not aware.

I looked in the options but could not find how to turn it off?

Just in a couple of words to ensure that my understanding is correct:

Photogrammetry or PG is a special technique of taking 2D photos that look like 3D in the simulator when seen from above a given altitude?

Yeah basically

It can look great from like 1000 ft AGL and up (if it's loading correctly which sometimes their servers struggle - so it looks bad)... but on the ground its always ugly like that.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Haven't seen that issue for quite a few months. I keep PG enabled. Always.

Without PG enabled for me I get random terrain issues such as unpassable walls on taxi ways or terrain drops of 5 or 6 feet which cripple the aircraft. There used to be a "ditch" in the landing zone of rwy 22 at La Guardia which made for interesting landings. PG turned on cleared all that up for me.

I have well over one hundred detailed payware airports installed on my PC, and not once have I experienced any serious problems with taxiways or aprons with PG disabled. Yes, even at IniBuilds airports!! Any issues are generally on the periphery of airports, like just short of the runway 09L threshold at EGLL London Heathrow, where the roads/bridges/Duke of Northumberland river area is somewhat "messy". To be honest, this is probably because most developers actually think about non PG users and PG users (I know that UK2000 and MK Studios do this). I appreciate that it may be more work, but I say again..........PG is an option, not a base foundation of MSFS scenery.

Good to know. I will continue to let PG off. The issues I had with PG on were indeed at the periphery of 2 payware airports, that is in the immmediate vicinity of the airports, but I don't think it was in the "scope" of the dev responsibility.
