While not strictly the map projection the real unit uses, we use it everywhere else and almost nobody has noticed in 5 years. It only affects the visuals of some zoomed out leg paths and land geometries, but not in a way that changes functionality. We're taking so many things on the jet so very far, but ultimately on any software platform we feel you have to take your licks and do what's practical and user conscious.

A perfect example is the Hot Start CL650. I absolutely love that airplane (I used to fly it IRL), but the missing weather radar — even though I hear it’s coming — was a big letdown. In my opinion, they should have designed the map projection from the start with the ability to overlay weather. It’s a shame, because the addon looks fantastic and they clearly put a lot of work into systems fidelity. But weather radar is an important tool when weather is present. I’ve flown aircraft with an MEL’d radar, but only when there was no weather in the area.Under no circumstances will an airliner be dispatched without a functioning radar when thunderstorms or other adverse weather are around.Hopefully they’ll look into this in the future, and I genuinely wish them a successful release. You're one of the few hehe. Off topic, how do you like SI? I was at the expo and they said they'd give me a 1 week trial - but the wifi was so slow they couldn't process my request. They did take a pic of my strap thing so hopefully they get it. 1 day isn't enough time to see. BATC keeps failing miserably for me. I'm really interested in GA ops, like more point to point IFR or VFR stuff, and how SI does vectoring you to final approach course, or how it does clearing you for an approach. Does it respect terrain? The Hot Start doesnt have wx radar? That's shocking actually. It's apparently one of the most detailed addons in any sim. Laminar even made a pretty decent one recently for XP12. June 18Jun 18 It's a shame there's no wxr on the Synaptic A220. What about other features?I just learnt the A220 has no opening cockpit windows. Apparently a safety design feature so I wonder if the Synaptic A220 has the roof escape hatch modelled when you want some fresh air in the cockpit?? 😃 SpoilerSystem specs: MFG Crosswind pedals| ACE B747 yoke |Honeycomb Bravo throttleNow built: P3Dv5.3HF2: Intel i5-12600K @4.8Ghz | MSI Z690-A PRO | Asus Dual RTX 4070 Super OC 12Gb| 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200Mhz |Samsung 980Evo Pro PCIe 500Gb | WD Black SN850 PCIe 2Tb | WD SA510 4Tb |beQuiet 802 Tower Case|Corsair RM850 PSU | Acer Predator X34P 3440x1440pMark AldridgeMSFS2024 SU5.1 & P3D v5.3 HF2

A few caveats though…the updated IRIS voice engine significantly reduces TX/RX time…but it’s a paid upgrade on top of the subscription. There are phraseology issues which are slowly getting worked out. Vectoring is showing promise though, same with traffic separation, but it can get confused and start to go off the rails. Laminar even made a pretty decent one recently for XP12.Hey Ryan! Yes, as others mentioned, SI is definitely improving. For me, the biggest issues right now are:Vectoring off SIDs: Radar vectors aren’t always great, and sometimes they forget about you entirely. I know they’re working hard on this, but it still breaks immersion.Vectoring from STAR to ILS: The intercept vectors are way off — they’ll send you on a heading that’s nowhere near a reasonable intercept angle or distance.Terminology: They still struggle with callsigns. For example, SkyWest 2703 becomes “SkyWest 2-7-0-7” instead of “Twenty-Seven Oh Three.” And some of the live traffic phraseology is just… not used in the U.S. (“DAL 123, boarding complete — ready for pushback.” I should try that next time I’m in JFK.) A few other terms aren’t really aligned with how airliners are handled.Runway changes: If you request a different runway, the next controller often tries to revert you back to whatever’s in the SimBrief OFP. It’s like the OFP becomes the law of the land.None of these are showstoppers — more like minor annoyances. I genuinely feel the SI team listens to customers and is actively fixing bugs and improving the product. And to be fair, they have a ton of features that are really well done (Skypocket, etc.).For me, the biggest win is the virtual FO. It genuinely feels like being at work, like complaining about crew scheduling for example lol. The AI does a surprisingly good job chatting back. You can even interact with the virtual FA, who might call you with a medical emergency, and so on. There’s a lot of depth there.Overall, I definitely recommend SI — though I mainly use it to simulate airline ops, not VFR or GA. But from what I hear, it handles those pretty well too.
