Synaptic A220 dev update - 6/17/2026

I wonder if Working Title's version of the avionics (the Praetor 600 and a220 both use Proline Fusion) will have a proper Weather Radar projection, and then Synaptic can just borrow that code.

We will use the sim standard mercator projection for both the map and the WXR, so we can utilize what the sim gives us. While not strictly the map projection the real unit uses, we use it everywhere else and almost nobody has noticed in 5 years. It only affects the visuals of some zoomed out leg paths and land geometries, but not in a way that changes functionality. We're taking so many things on the jet so very far, but ultimately on any software platform we feel you have to take your licks and do what's practical and user conscious.

I actually do, Ryan. I ask SI for deviations since SI can’t see the weather either, but honestly it kills the realism for me. A perfect example is the Hot Start CL650. I absolutely love that airplane (I used to fly it IRL), but the missing weather radar — even though I hear it’s coming — was a big letdown.

In my opinion, they should have designed the map projection from the start with the ability to overlay weather. It’s a shame, because the addon looks fantastic and they clearly put a lot of work into systems fidelity. But weather radar is an important tool when weather is present. I’ve flown aircraft with an MEL’d radar, but only when there was no weather in the area.

Under no circumstances will an airliner be dispatched without a functioning radar when thunderstorms or other adverse weather are around.

Hopefully they’ll look into this in the future, and I genuinely wish them a successful release.

You're one of the few hehe. Off topic, how do you like SI? I was at the expo and they said they'd give me a 1 week trial - but the wifi was so slow they couldn't process my request. They did take a pic of my strap thing so hopefully they get it. 1 day isn't enough time to see. BATC keeps failing miserably for me. I'm really interested in GA ops, like more point to point IFR or VFR stuff, and how SI does vectoring you to final approach course, or how it does clearing you for an approach. Does it respect terrain?

The Hot Start doesnt have wx radar? That's shocking actually. It's apparently one of the most detailed addons in any sim. Laminar even made a pretty decent one recently for XP12.
