July 15Jul 15 Redesign the base package downloader with a clearer package list, corrected download size totals, and direct base package folder selection.Improve base package download reliability by downloading selected packages sequentially, reusing aria2c safely, recovering from incompatible resume data, and fixing cancellation and retry issues.Correctly detect and support downgrading to an older base package version.Restore the previous base package selection after disabling the X-Plane 12 original base package. Learning to fly gliders since 1980Stopped using flightsims for good since early August 2026, after 34 yrs using some really great specimens... If I'm asked to name the preferred one, after all these years, MSFS 2024 is my answer without hesitation.(No desktop :-// after the last one crashed for good, so no simming, but I keep polling AVSIM - my main ludic activities spot since around 2006...)
July 15Jul 15 Author I decided to use the "X-Plane 12 original base package" because I was "tired" of getting updates to the various base packages quite often, but I am tempted to try the PME-native base Packages, because they're optimized in terms of more up to date OSM data, I guess...I know some of you don't like the base idea behind it, but I really enjoy what PME does for X-Plane 12 ! July 16Jul 16 I got a lot OOVM CTD with MEP recently and I suspect it's something to do with it's basepack, let me see if it's fixed. For many airport in southwest mountainous area of China, their basepack are much better to get a nice sloped runway on the mountain side rather than totally unusable jagging runway or a big area with unnaturally flat square(thus very jagging boundary)

July 20Jul 20 Author For those with OOM and other problems, you don't have to uninstall - simply don't start it before Xp12. Such as North America or Europe or where ever you happen to be flying? Vic green
