  1. Little high on the glideslope there Ken? :-)Eric
  2. Mostly they are just welded steel beasts to look like airplanes with built in Gas jets to set it alight. Procedural trainer for the firefighters. In ATL we have a B732 for similar uses.
  3. That looks cool, but I really (really)hope this new version doesnt feature the Airbus A380. That airplane isnt even in service yet. The sim will approximate fantasy.

    FSD 337?

Owen, I saw that freeware contribution of the B206. I dont fly rotors because I dont have rudder pedals, which I think are critical to flying Helos. However, I want to thank you for the contribution. You guys periodically do pump out a freeware piece which I think not only enhances your brand by putting you "top of mind" with FS folks, but also is a signal that you are part of a larger community. Other payware companies should follow your lead. The T-38 you guys did is a classic. In any case I did download your work (which was an automatic!) and thank you for taking time to do it.best,Eric
  5. Mike Pearson has gone nuts with the Henry Tomkewicz C-130 models for AI(good!). I wonder, given the worldwide deployment of this airplane over the decades, if somebody is intent on creating an AI flightplan set for these suckers? I'd love to see a military flightplans set that encompasses all the lockheed heavylifters like the C-130, C-141 and C-5. These airplanes are almost universal in their deployment and are not out of place ANYWHERE.Eric
  6. The original Jimmy Stewart movie had a C-82 Packet as the plane. The remake had a C-119 Flying Boxcar. Both made by Fairchild. Daisuke Yamamoto made an excellent freeware C-119. Check the lib to find it.Eric
  7. Can anybody tell me what mods I need to make to an aircraft.cfg file to allow a taildragger to be stearable vs differential braking (current)? Its a cheat, but #####.ThanksEric
  8. I find similar problems, but dont think its the moving map as much as it is my Reality XP GNS530 GPS. The new RXP bus that runs in the background is a HUGE resource hog. I mean 80-90 pct use. Throw in a big map and the memory use goes nuts. Locks my machine up. I have a gig of memory too. I love the RXP stuff and the moving map, but if forced to choose, I take the RXP because of its functionality. Im not on a top line system, but I know the two apps dont work well together on my box.Eric
  9. Im curious as to why you use FSNav if you have the LDS 767 FMC. I find I rarely use FSNav any more. Great tool, but I just dont find the need when I have an FMC etc.I dont have the LDS addon, but I do have plenty of other payware heavies.Eric
  10. You simply cant go wrong with the Reality XP GNS530. It is a virtual exact copy of a Garmin GNS530 GPS. Outstanding tool once you read the manual to learn how to use it, but if you can handle an FMC, this is a no brainer. Very handy for use in GA or airliners as a supplement to other navigational devices. The GNS430 is a smaller footprint version of the same type of capability, also available from RXP.Whether you need it or not depends on your level of complex flying and whether your flying is intended for real world navigating. There are plenty of folks who enjoy low and slow hand flyers and old vintage airplanes who have no need whatever of anything beyond whats default in the sim. but if you are doing any point to point flying in any complex environments or especially online, you need these tools.Eric
  11. I hate that antiquated Navomatic. I usually replace it with either the default bendix king unit or another 3rd party autopilot. Its not an airliner, but no reason not to have an autopilot in the airplane that approximates whats really available today for an upgrade. After you do this, go buy the Reality XP GNS530 or 430 and stick that puppy in there. Then you can learn how to really use a GPS. A little learning curve but it leaves the default GPS in the DUST.UweR is an expert on those devices!Eric
  12. I dont know hornit...Having riden a bunch of times on your airline...I can almost always tell a Naval aviator from a USAF guy. Navy guys ALWAYS stick it. The USAF guys grease it in. Guess they are used to 10K to work with!!Eric
  13. Alas, its payware.http://www.tlai.com/med_des/lbusn.htmlThere is a demo version but its incomplete.Eric
  14. and either the Sunny Xia or Posky 762's? I wonder if anybody hasattempted to merge the LDS panel with another model yet...Eric
  15. Tell him... "Kilo Mike Alpha"... he'll know what that means :-)eric
  16. Enjoy your own life and what you enjoy. He can do thesame.
  17. I was cruising the library today and saw that the Fokker 70/100 package from the Project Fokker guys is up to 71000 downloads and counting. Very, very impressive. Obviously a plane most of us have on our HD somewhere.I have it too, but dont fly it much. I guess Im intrigued by what makes this plane such a popular download? Its very good and of course freeware! but I never thought it was simply amazing, which is what this number of DL's would lead one to believe. No disrespecting this very good plane or the hard work thats in it, but what makes this such a popular download? I have really taken up GA more than airliners in the last couple of years, so this question is really for you heavy metal guys and gals.Eric
  18. I flew it around without a problem. Neat airplane. My PC didnt complain about files...but Im using XP Home, which isnt as fussy as XP Pro.
  19. Great. However Im still waiting for their C-130. Level D sims will have the definitive 767 anyway!
  20. I like looking at both even though I mostly fly single engine GA nowadays due to lack of time for long hauls. Should stay together in my view.eric
  21. Aeroworx supports their products extremely well. Understand your frustration with some others...Lago especially. However Henning himself does a marvelous job.Eric
  22. Jim, thanks. I didnt know this patch was available...downloading now!Eric
  23. I enjoy this airplane a lot. I fly it, and my DF C177 as my default Cessna single engine birds for GA. My only complain however is the view out the side windows. I think its too high a view point. In most Cessnas I've flown in, and in several of the models in FS, you can see the underside of the wing from the inside. (Real life and virtual). In this airplane, you see the top of the door and below, not the wing underside. If you "lower the seat" you can get the proper view, but that raises the panel perspective up too high. Minor irritant, but doesnt look correct to me IMHO.Eric
  24. 1600 hours starting 3 years ago with FS2002 and carried forward to FS2004. I fly a lot of 1-2 hour flights.Eric
