  1. ..."but I refuse to be rude and ignorant." :-)Thats cool...Ignorance can be cured...stupidity cant.
  2. And the toilet flushes in the other direction too. Coriolis Effect.
  3. I'd like to get hold of a payware C-5A or C-141. Captainsim had a C-130 in the works, but who knows if they will ever finish it.A C-5 Galaxy, done by a proper payware group, like PSS, etc, would be would be the cats a$$.
  4. There are a lot of kids who enjoy this hobby actually. I think I saw a poll once that showed the average. I dont remember what it was, but it was younger than I thought it was by reading here normally.Yes, a bit naive, but so what. Im sure he is now oh so much brighter for this lesson.Next thing you guys will be telling me there is no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny. And EVERYBODY KNOWS....Hobbits are in New Zealand. (wheres that again?)..oh yeah...go south to Chile and turn right.Eric
  5. Seems to me that once upon a time most Europeans thought the world was flat...Though I do know of one guy I met who thought the "Far East" was Savannah Ga.Eric
  6. All I know is I've never had a problem with Captainsim as a vendor of products I've bought nor in support of products. Plus, when I've done skins etc, they've voluntarily asked me to beta test products such as their Yak3, 707 and F-104. Seems like a good group to me. However, Im assuming some others have had problems etc. So I will wait and see.Im hoping these excellent developers return in full form!!!Tom, please let this thread run a little. People are passionate about CS because their quality is great...but their situation is precarious apparently. Some latitude here is good to get the full story.RegardsEric
  7. I think FS9 measures from start of the sim in the cockpit to exit of the flight. Meaning you can sit there on the stand and build flight time. Not realistic but an approximation assuming you dont just sit there.Eric
  8. Hi Jeroen. No Im referring to a vertical extension put into some aircraft post war in the civilian market by Canadian David Lindsays company. The fin strake you may be talking about in front of the rudder was put in on models after the B model I think. I need to go check my books!Eric
  9. I question the accuracy of the p-51H. The tall tail I believe was a 1950's post war addon done to improve stability by David Lindsay in Canada. You still see it on some civilianized P-51's, though most of the D model warbirds that had this done (and often tip tanks too.) have had them removed in restoration to original external form.Interestingly Chuck Yeager said the H model was the worst airplane he ever flew. Apparently the airplane was made lighter in an effort to increase performance, but in his opinion the airplane didnt fly as well as its heavier predecessors.Eric
  10. A major accomplishment in aviation, but d@mn that thing is UGLY.Looks like a B-36 with passengers. Besides. Its french. No thank you.Just my 2 cents.Eric
  11. Guys, Im mostly a GA pilot nowadays but am loving the detail and beauty of the great panel Simon Toppmann created for the HNAC A300 and A310. (at least it works fine on the A310.)Having said that, Im having some trouble tuning the Nav radios. They seem to work while on the ground, but once Autopilots are engaged etc, I cant get them to respond to tuning. Am I doing something wrong? For guidance, heres the radio section of the aircraft.cfg that i have in place...if this needs changing, please advise. ThanksEric[Radios]// Radio Type=availiable, standby frequency, has glide slopeAudio.1=1 Com.1=1, 0 Com.2=0, 1 Nav.1=1, 0, 1 Nav.2=1, 0, 0 Adf.1=1 Transponder.1=1 Marker.1=1
  12. Holger, thats a very "PC" argument. You can buy games to kill almost anything complete with blood and guts and dead babies. Interoperability is not a bad thing and while you might kill some electrons nobody dies.
  13. Because a LOT of military sim folks enjoy both formats...and this is IN FACT how the real world works. Eric
  14. I've always wanted that too. Ability to have more realistic of both worlds.
  15. Hopefully It will be bug free. Thats tough when you look at the complexity of these things. Eric
  16. I have NO scenery design capabilities, but theres a bunch of stuff I wish we had in Rwy12.1. Air Stairs2. Container cranes3. Container stacks4. Railroad objects, engines and cars5. Large buildings6. Better quality static airplanes (see MS's KOSH scenery)7. More ships including coast guard cutters, tug boats and barges8. Emergency vehicles, including police, fire and ambulances9. Float plane docks10. Houses of a variety of designsI'd also like the ability to place the objects in an interface similar to AFCAD. (In fact, I'd like to be able to open AFCAD files as an underlay to object placement with FSUIPC linkage to FS.)Just my wish list for a great tool. I'd pay for this one if it had all this stuff.Eric
  17. I have the Carenado Cherokee 180F, but also their Archer II. I like both, but the Archer is very well done IMHO. I do own the DF Archer, and think it flies very well. The Carenado visual model and vc however are better than the DF ones. Somebody above mentioned the DF Archer is a little old now though.Eric
  18. ...anyone...anyone... bueller?Eric
  19. Was flying towards New Orleans the other day and passed byPearl River - Picayune Airport (KPCU). Noted a stack of threelarge bridges almost on top of the airport. These are clearlya bug. Im using FS9.1. Can anybody tell me how to removethese critters without removal of the airport? I dont thinkan exclude file will do it.ThanksEric
  20. 421 is a piston engined aircraft. The 441 is a turbo prop. They look similar, but are very different aircraft. Seriously,I'd go with the Aeroworx Kingair.
  21. I have them both. Both great planes with good visual models, and good instrumentation etc. My favorite, which you might also consider, is the Aeroworx Kingair B-200. Thats a fine turboprop airplane!Between the two you named however, I'd go with the Cheyenne. More complex IMHO.Eric
  22. Fewer polys generally with static airplanes as bgl files. Very good if you want to add a yard full of them...I wouldnt want to do that with AI.Of course, you can add a few AI as you suggest and the compliments to volume with some movement for realism. This is what MS did with their KOSH (Oshkosh) addon some time back.Eric
  23. Peters solution, which is to put a copy of the same afcad into the scenery/world/scenery directory, tricks the sim into thinking this is the default scenery height. Very clever..and it absolutely does work. I had to use this trick to add AI to a number of Georender airports.Just follow it step by step and it does work.Eric
  24. Peter McClelland found a fix for this. He was exploringsame problem for the Georender Orcas Island problem.Check this URL for the cure. it works with any airport. It has to do with the AFCAD files.http://www.fsaddon.com/download_instr_1.htmEric
  25. not sure this is the place to look for this info, but am starting here!I fly a lot of GA and for a change up now and again, use my AOPA Airport directory to pick out airports that look interesting. I found a cool one at KBDE..Baudette International in Minnesota. its right on the Canadian border. Neat because it has an uncontrolled airfield with a good asphalt strip, a grass strip and a lake beside it with a designated water landing strip. Pretty cool..and thats real life.I decided to juice up the afcad for this airport and would like to create a separate afcad file bde2 for the water strip. Ideally, I'd like to have a default Cessna 208 amphibian or a cool beaver doing AI TNG's at the water strip while another AI plane is doing the same on theKBDE land strips. What I've found is a couple of problems. 1. There appears to be a problem with flatness of the lake itself, which impedes creation of a proper runway there. How do I make that flat?2. When I use AFCAD to make water taxiways, the texture of the taxiway is a totally different blue than the lake. Is it possible to fix this?If so, how? I'd like to replace whatever texture makes the water taxiways with whatever is used for the lake itself.3. Can anybody point me to an afcad or airport scenery that has Waterborne AI? I'd like to learn by looking.ThanksEric
