  1. I'm not going to infer anything but see the Vista Australia forums for the story on this scenery.Whilst a full blown freeware was never made, the enhancements done by VOZ on YSSY are pretty good I think. I don't see anything more in the CLS version apart from photoreal grass.
  2. Yeah I agree with all of you. The 767 and 757 are so similar systems-wise that you could almost pretend you're flying a 757 in the LevelD. That's why I've never even considered buying a 757.How about PMDG's B1900 for the turboprop category?
  3. I've recently moved my life to a new laptop so the desktop is now exclusively FS ONLY. I reinstalled XP, FS9.1 and FSX with only the Program Files applicable to FS installed. I am being very, very discerning now as to which scenery and aircraft addons I put back now. The plan is to not end up bloated. If you maintain a minimal install setup, you will be surprised how good both versions run on a low end system when the system is not clogged up with useless junk.My goal is to get Widefs and offset even more FS apps onto the laptop.
  4. Nice, like those electronic flight books.First Officer gets no HUD ?
  5. Yes I had this happen over the English Channel into London the other night, and from time to time elsewhere. Didn't notice any visual change though. The time zone theory makes sense.
  6. I agree. Starting small serves no purpose. The systems and procedures are similar. Handling may differ slightly but if you learn one you can fly all the others because you don't hand fly these things, you use the autopilot.I say start BIG!
  7. Well good move. Sounds like you already know all about navigation and flying vor's etc so that's good. All you need to train up on is the heavy liner systems and procedures. I recommend firstly downloading some of the good freeware jets from Project Opensky and others, perhaps a 767. Then get familiar with the autopilot and autoflight systems, which generally are the same from bird to bird. Get the hang of how the jet flies, how to generally approach and land, and how to manage climbs and descents, plan fuel etc. Doing this on freeware first will allow you to see if heavy jets are really for you - Basically airliner flight is two periods of heavy workload either side of a long period doing nothing :-)Then after that take the plunge and buy the Level D 767, arguably the best payware jet around. It's mid range size will allow short and long flights. You can do some tutorials to train up on the FMC usage together with the autoflight systems, then you are ready to simulate a real world flight.
  8. Put some shots up because from what I saw on the CLS website it doesn't appear to be worth the price IMO. I'd need a better look at it though. I've seen comparable freeware. Also, I've heard some rumours about this scenery in relation to plagiarism. The team at Voz know a lot more about this.
  9. I've been on XClass since it came out. Fantastic product. I think people seem to suffer from too much FSGenesis "hype".
  10. I've never heard of a company divulging information like that out to it's customers, even if it is in private, as I would have though it puts them at risk of the exact thing you are implying - a sort of reverse defamation/false accusation scenario. You may have just reinstalled and upgraded lots of times. Very strange.
  11. I've just reinstalled and this gives you some realistic perspective on what you really need and don't need. IMHO the "essentials" are below. Anything else are "nice to haves" but not necessities. I think people are confusing personal taste with mecessity. 1. ASV6 + FE2. Good mesh for your particular region (eg FSG, other good freeware meshes)3. UT: USA and EU4. GEPro, VOZ
  12. Hmm maybe 3 x 24" is a bit keen... :-)Yes WideFS does interest me the more I think about this. Having all your "FS apps" running on a networked laptop must give some CPU cycles back. Might look into that. About time I tried it out.
  13. I have recently bought a top shelf notebook in Singapore and so my desktop is now pretty much redundant. I don't play games any more apart from FS and all the program files and apps and stuff I will now do on the notebook. So I have just reinstalled XP Home, stripped it down, BlackVipered it etc and partitioned up with HDD 1 (60Gb)C: OS D: PagefileE: "FS" Program Files (ASV, FEX etc)HDD 2 (200Gb)F: FS9(G: FSX maybe later)I want to eventually add 3 24" WS monitors and get TripleHead2Go.I reckon I can rejuvenate this oldish spec to perform great again and not strangle it with useless Apps and junk.Has anyone else gone and done a "FS Only Rig" ?Happy Vanentine's Day.
  14. I've always had...Drive 1C: OS (around 15Gb)D: PageFile (around 10Gb)E: Program FilesF: Games/OtherDrive 2:G: FS9H: FSX (if required)Letters will vary. Drive 1 as your new drive/ Drive 2 as your old smaller one.But this is how I recommend you set up. Backup all your FS away to an external drive. Then wipe/reformat/repartition/reinstall everything.Forget "moving" - things get really weird and tangled up if you try that. Not saying my way is the only way, but it has worked for me. Speaking of, I'm about due to do it all again.. fun!
  15. I also see this, mildly annoying but I can live with it. Interested to hear of a fix if there is one.
  16. Yeah I still use pause a lot but you hardly realise you're using it. For instance when I look down to change my radios, I'll pause cause it's too hard to keep your head dead still. Also whenever I need to right click a switch (PMDG mostly) I'll pause, cause I'll usually miss and bring up that stupid windows context menu which I frikkin hate! :-) haha all good.
  17. I agree. It took me month to get used to mine. I couldn't even hit the runway at first! :-)Just FYI - There's a profile on the naturalpoint website called OPTIMISED FLIGHT. Grab it and use it. It's the best setup for FS that I have used. Really helps with the headaches. Once it all starts to work for you, you'll start loving it thought! :-) You'll see.
  18. It does indeed have to do with the type of AI models you are using. The FDE's are going to be different from UT to MyTraffic to the freeware custom stuff like Aardvark. For reference: I use custom AI built years ago on the Aardvark, FSPainter models with free flightplans such as MRAI and mine fly the turn perfectly. They sometime miss the centreline too but that's great I think! Adds the human touch.I think you should re-build one airline on another platorm and see how that goes. If it lands well then do the rest. I used Ultimate Traffic once years ago and thought it was garbage.
  19. The one I fly the most is RCTP MKG A1 ELATO ELATO1A.VHHX13
  20. There's an airports data file as well you need to add one line VHHX on that too I think.
  21. LOWI is tough! Especially that circling approach in to 08 on the offset localiser. Man that's scary stuff down in that valley.
  22. I use routeplanner website but make a plan to VHHH. No difference. VHHH or VHHX all goes to CH VOR anyway. After CH you're on a standard arrival anyway and that's where things are a little different. Then I enter it into the FMC. I'll make the plan also in FS so that Active Sky can follow it and give me ATIS.
