    Freighters

    Some quick shots.
  2. I think this is it? http://www.twitch.tv/frooglepete/b/445803564
  3. Please forgive my terrible cropping jobs.
  4. You can assign AT disconnect buttons just like you can in the NGX. What's different about the 777, is that the AT switches on the MCP, don't automatically go to off when you disconnect the AT. They stay armed at all times. So even if you're flying manually, they'll still be in the up and armed position. No problems seeing the FD needles for me. The 777 doesn't automatically copy ICAO code into the scratchpad like the NGX. It has to be done manually.
  5. Ed, Did you buy the product from the PMDG website or somewhere else? If it was directly from PMDG, try logging in to your account, then going to view previous orders, clicking on the order number for the NGX, and the license code should be at the bottom.
  6. Or you could just do that, but where's the fun?
  7. There are "maintenance" pages for each system, the same as the NGX if you own that. What I mean is that you could pay attention to one, say the Air Conditioning as it can go 1000 hours between servicing (there might be longer ones, been a bit since I've dug into that part of things), and then track your hours that way. Of course you couldn't do it up to the minute, but it'd likely give you a base idea. See how it says "next service in"? This started at 1,000, and as you can see it's now counted down to 967. Thinking if you really wanted to track things, you could just pay attention here and it'd basically tell you how many hours you've flown.
  8. No logbook, but I suppose you could turn on service based failures and track based on how many hours have gone by with those.
  9. Just found this RCTP freeware here on AVSIM. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks fairly nice. Plenty of 777 flights in/out of RCTP as well. http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=Formosa+X+RCTP&CatID=fsx&Go=Search

    777 and FSUIPC

John, I've got everything setup the same way I do in the NGX, other than adding a button to press the checklist button on the DSP (It's actually the same button I use for the HGS in the NGX). This way I can just hit the button to get checklist on the MDF, then when I'm done with the checklist, I hit it again and the screen blanks. Works great.
  11. What all have you tried adjusting? Anything other than Vcore? Plenty of people, myself included, have found we need to adjust other voltages to get Haswell stable. I ended up adjusting Vcore, VRIN, CPU Input Voltage, system agent voltage, and a couple other things to get stable at 4.5 (Though currently at 4.4 for slightly lower voltage/temps until I decide to get better cooling and possibly delid). Give this a read if you haven't already. It's for Gigabyte boards, and some of the terms are different, but it was a great help for me in getting things stable. http://www.overclock.net/t/1401976/the-gigabyte-z87-haswell-overclocking-oc-guide/0_50
  12. First complex FS addon I ever bought was the LDS 767 not long after it was released. It took me at least 45 minutes just to figure out how to enter text into the CDU, much less get to the point where I was starting engines. Whatever tutorial I was following didn't mention that you had to clear the scratchpad to enter text. I'm unsure exactly what it was, but something was in the scratchpad due to some other thing that you do during startup (Like my technical terminology there?), and I didn't realize you had to clear that text to enter whatever I was supposed to so I could continue with the tutorial. I just kept trying to enter thing after thing but was unable to figure it out. Finally I must have accidentally hit the CLR button, or read on AVSIM or elsewhere that you have to clear the scratchpad and I was good to go from there. It's all been uphill (or should I say downhill considering the hit on my bank account?) from there, and I somehow managed to find my way onto the beta team at PMDG. If the above doesn't give newbies hope that they can figure things out, nothing will.

    Ethiopian

ET501 pushing back at KIAD on her way home to HAAB.
  14. Looks like it's 30 minutes to the first yellow "PILOT RESPONSE" on the EICAS, then another 5 minutes before you get the second yellow pilot response with beeper, and finally you get the red warning and obnoxious siren not long after that.
  15. Do you mean the TOGA screw? If so, yes, it's still there and it's been improved. A left click gives you normal TOGA just like the NGX, however there is also a middle click to do a soft disconnect of the A/T (like if you hit the button on the side of the throttles), and a right click which is a soft disconnect of the A/P (like if you hit the button on the yoke). David, Not Luke, but I just posted a night one in this thread. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/415173-over-heard-panel-and-the-fuel-system/
  16. I'm unsure exactly what you're asking, but here's a picture of the overhead and the fuel synoptic page.
  17. Karl, That is an option that you can change in the aircraft > equipment options page. You can pick "not installed", "no smoking", or "no electronics" with of course the appropriate selection appearing on the overhead. Mike
  18. Dominik, As JR said, it's fully automatic. I've used it on all my flights so far, and have been starting it as soon as I get to TOC (I think you can start it earlier, just haven't tried). So I get to TOC, right click the chrono button, and the auto time compression system takes over. It does whatever magic PMDG have programmed behind the scenes, and if it detects things are stable, you'll see the red FSX time compression information show, starting at 2x and progressing to 4x, 8x, and finally 16x if you have it set that high. It's not instantaneous, there's a bit of pause between each jump (Not the whole sim, just the auto compression) while I'm guessing the system is checking to make sure things are still stable, but after a few seconds you'll get up to whatever max you have set which can be 2x, 4x, 8x, or 16x. That can be changed in the auto cruise options page. Any other questions, just ask. I'm loving this feature, and I've always been one who has flown things in real time.

    777 Beta

I flew to Phoenix and slept in Ryan's front yard. Obviously his neighbors weren't too happy with this so Ryan told me if I'd leave, he'd offer me a beta spot. Now I'm back at home and on the wide beta team.
  20. I know people enjoyed the option in the NGX that allowed you to modify your colors. PMDG have taken that to the next level in the 777. They've added what is basically a color picker into the PMDG Setup menu that you can access via the CDU. PMDG Setup > Options > Colors. You can change 47 different things, anything from the CDU colors, to the PDF colors, to the MCP colors, to the flood lighting. Here's a shot of the first page of options, how you change the colors once you've hit the LSK next to what you want to change, followed by my quick jump into making a cockpit so ugly even my mom would scream.
  21. Just to add a little to what JR said, I did YSSY-CYVR last and night, and even with me taxing to and from the gates, and doing the climb and descent in real time, I was able to complete the flight in a little over 2 hours. Real world ACA34 flight took 13:51 today. Despite not being able to fly her until I got off work last yesterday, and having to go to bed for work this morning, I still put ~13,500nm (great circle distance) in flights on her. KLAX-KSFO-PHNL-YSSY-CYVR all in one night thanks to this fantastic feature.
  22. Not quite what you asked for, but here's a couple shots of my arrival into PHNL last night. Jorge, Yes, there are popups for all of the screens, the MCP, all three CDU's, and a little one that has the COM1 radio, and transponder controls on it.
  23. He's talking about being inside the VC, and yes, if your heading changes by 180°, the camera moves in a circle 360°. I tried your setting, and the movement still happens. Give Ryan's test a shot, pick a long aircraft (this happens in the default 321, too), move your view so you're looking straight down at the seat, and slew using the end/page down keys.
