I would have to agree, i bought their PC12 and love the look and stuff but flight dynamics and system depth and no integration options with any other avionics suites basicliy rendered to me this ac as default c172 that comes with FSX. not sure ill be buying anything from them. but then again i dont think much in GA environment comes to level of pmdg and tubeliners, maybe couple of a2a and b200 is what i seen on frooglesim reviews. other then that you have to come into GA environment with realistic expectation, minimal avionics=default gps, basic flight model and thats about it, great paints, and exterior texture so on. i am not a pilot but i did stay at holiday inn express
  2. correct me if i am wrong again but u cant have FTX Global and regions enabled at once, in manager it wont allow u to run both, isnt? or am i missing something?
  3. my understanding it actually conflicts with it, u have to ether select one or other. there is hybrid mode option now i think but i see oddities with it too... maybe other can chime in, but when i fly i disable one or the other.

  5. good question, i am curious too, i know there was some chat about very odd situation and LAX approach and memory leak, which i experienced alot but not sure where thats at now, i know they were looking into it.

  7. LNAV/VNAV will get you only A to B and altitude management, APP/LOC on other hand will land you is short answer. I am simplifying this heavily: LNAV/VNAV will only get you down to predefined decent point of the STAR at which point you can ether do manual landing or engage APP for CAT approach, in some cases like real life you will have to be vectored into the runway, at which stage lnav/vnav mostly does not play any role and u rely on LOC and adjustments manually to speed and altitude based on what ATC tells you. I would recommend googling LNAV/VNAV navigation and then ILS approaches CAT etc to see how they play and what specific part of the flight plan u use them. I am sure alot will reply here with even more detail but i would recommend doing reading on these to understand what they do. They are both necessary lets put it that way .

Please work with PMDG directly on this. you have the registration key i assume if you do, if not then even if you get base you need registration key to install it. so if you have none of those things and no login i would say time to buy another copy and save info to avoid situation like this in future. I did same thing, jumped the ship and item 3 is killing me, but what you have to do is realise that the settings even though they look similar are not the same under the hood. so still in end P3d is worth it, but be prepared to tinker more for setting selections that work best for you. i do like option for creating custom profile for each type of flights. one BIG note on this, what i am seeing is and don't have 100% proof yet but it appears if you tinker with video settings in middle of flights let me give you example, you flying tube liner and flying over dense city on your approach, and realize that your density settings on take off are taxing your system more now, and you pop into settings and tune down the settings, it seem to cause more vas leak then if you didnt touch the settings and landed with choppy frames, same with adjusting traffic, tessalation etc, again i dont have 100% proof yet but to me it seem to cause OOM more faster. other then that, i love p3d.
  10. fair enough. anyways i guess i am gona lean on idea that everyone just keeps tweaking until it works for them type of setup. so with that, how different are the sliders in p3d versus FSX, maybe i am sliding to high where in FSX it mean one setting and in p3d it sets it much higher, would be the start.
  11. yeap had same issue with mine, with the affinity mask lots of blurries specially accelerated flights etc, took that out and fixed it right up now no more blurries.
  12. I am becoming one frustrated simmer with P3D now... I can not complete a single flight with out ether P3D stopped responding error or some odd OOM error. never had these in FSX. is this a common thing for alot of folks who fly this sim now days, do you really have to turn everything down to just avoid OOM, is there like specific sweet spot or something? i have following: GTX780 4GB 3770k Clocked 16gb ram 64bit win7 P3d 2.5 patched to latest (all clean install) ASN latest patch OrbX All American regions Orbx KJac PMDG 777 Carenado PC12 so example i took off last night from kjac with carenado pc12 and cruised to boise (stock), on approach bam p3d no longer responding close the program flying around in PC or PMDG pretty much results in taking off all nice and smooth, landing not so much more then likely 25 miles out to airport crash p3d. any ideas what to look for, i am at end of my loop with this and thinking going back to fsx.

Since not much detail was released on incident who knows maybe that guy did deserved it for slacking at his job etc and not making arrangements etc, but never the less very unprofessional behaviour by Jeremy, but then hard to expect from him that as that specific behavior is what makes the show so awesome, they should of fined his a##@ huge fine with paying any damage to the other guy and continued the show with him in it. I will miss that show for sure, one of my favorites to watch, but i guess all good things end eventually, sadly total sadness.

So couple of things i've done to get the high fps, one is i do not load external visual model of t777, i noticed about 1-3 FPS improvement and in some cases higher, since i fly only in cockpit and dont view outside view thats not needed. (yes i know i am nuts, but i enjoy it only once in a while, 99% i am only inside) ALOT of tweaking with scenery managers to get FPS high, sometimes i will rename BGLs to disable certain details as i dont need them, example in some airports i dont care about external traffic at the terminals of taxi/buses driving, i cut off any loose things that normaly as a pilot from cockpit u wont see when u are flying into airport. i use alot of FLYTAMPA and FSDT, and FLIGHTBEAM scenery, all are awesome in terms of editing however, HOWEVER FLYTAMPA TORONTO is horrid on FPS, i managed to get it down as much as i can by using their manager, specificly for some reason de-icers cause huge impact and traffic at approns. and another big killer of FPS is the transparent terminal windows. i still get about 23-28 fps at that airport, so i wont fly as often as i would like. i hope they will reveiw and reoptimize it better. other then that, so far in 2 weeks of my cutover i spend 95% tweaking and 0 flying, but i remember with FSX was the same thing until all was tweaked then started putting hours on my t7. hope it helps a little. oh one more thing forgot to add here, SHADOWS, i only use LOW and only cast and reflect on cockpit option and 3000m option. thats it, no casting of any type, this stuff does kill it.

AA and general screen information and how to setup your graphics, just look around forums, i was in same shoes u are 2 weeks ago when i dumped my full 130gb FSX install and moved to p3d. what i find is that you have to change your mentality when it comes to graphics settings and flying in p3d, i never had issue with OOM in FSX and long routes and started running into those in p3d. So a lot of tweaking is coming your way, best part they allow u to do profiles, so i setup one for my tube liners and one for ga with different scenery settings etc. also keep in mind a lot of setting changes are not same as they were in FSX so high slider on FSX is actually medium or low on P3D which means if u come with idea to max things out like u did in FSX u run into possible problem. there is alot of discussions about DSR, and various AA settings, i ended up going DSR route so far not bad, i maintain my 30 FPS with p777 at airports, but again had to do adjustments in P3D as well as some manual BGL scenery changes etc. other then that great sim, so far loving it.

FYI, after messing about 2 hours, i was able to isolate this to a prepar3d.exe file, so if you do cut and paste or unrar/unzip hotfix into the folder it pretty much breaks all addons, like FSD/ASN. I was able to partially get things to work by copying old copy of 2.5 prepar3d.exe as i kept copy of same exe over the new hot fixed exe file and it got all my odd ons working EXCEPT ASN. so if u hotfix your install be aware that it does break addons like ASN/FSD. to confirm that i copied old exe over the new one and got my addons back on running without doing any reinstalls or tweaking config files, and as soon as hotfix exe is installed all the addons break. however ASN is broken completely regardless. so install HOTFIX at OWN RISK. good luck.

What video driver you using, i remember seeing info that it has to do with tessellation and driver, mine did same thing i updated to latest driver and it worked, however there is some post stating that PAPI lights disappear, which i haven't seen yet but its possibilities, i heard that if u upgrade or downgrade to 344.75 you would be ok. I am currently running 344.75 and no issues. hope this helps.
