Hi All, Does PFPX Version 2.03 still provide the Fuel Planning and Load Planning Page that proceeds the Flight Plan? This is a useful tool to make sure you don't exceed your max Ramp Weight or max Landing Weight for example. It also breaks out all the fuel planning elements such as ALTN, FAR RSV, TRIP, EXTRA. I remember when they the developer removed this page a lot of people complained and after a bit, they inserted it back in. Bill Clark

Welcome to the world of VR Dave!!!! Bill Clark

Muskoka, As to microphones, I have microphone attached to my network PC (PTA) and another separate microphone to my flight sim PC to communicate to Voice Attack. I didn't attempt to use the VR Headset mike as it was easier to do the way I chose. As to the VR headphones, I receive all the engine, cockpit, and co-pilot sounds. I have an external speaker attached to my networked PC and turned up in high enough volume I can hear with the headset I wear. It works well. I'm lucky, as I have a dedicated room for my hobby that permits me a lot of privacy.......family is not disturbed. Unfortunately, VR is still a niche product for simmiing, and has a lot of limitations, especially resolution and field of view (FOV). It could be a number of years before, if ever, it becomes mainstream? I'm a die hard fan of VR, so I put up with the warts and all. Bill Clark

I use VR with P2A and I run P2A on another PC. I fly primarily PMDG 747-400 and during AC setup (FMC entries) and push back, I run in monitor mode. Once I initiate clearance delivery, and P2A is off and running, then I turn on VR and do pushback, taxi, takeoff, and climb to cruise. During cruise, I switch back to monitor mode. Just prior to TOD, I put on the VR goggles and fly the descent, approach, landing, and taxi to gate or cargo area. i also use a small program Voice Attack to supplement my HOTAS programmed buttons. Voice Attack will convert voice commands to key strokes. A very powerful tool. I use FSUIPC to transmit press to talk to P2A over the network. Sometimes I lift the VR goggles up a bit to sneak a peak. I know it is cheating, but it doesn’t destroy the overall immersion. The downside is you have to commit to memory all the necessary ATC lingo, or use a cheat sheet like I do if I forget. I love VR, I primarily fly P3D V4.3 and DCS World Bill Clark

I just looked at my Program Files (x86) and that is where I believe all my speech files are located. It appears that these 32-bit files do work with P2A. Bill Clark

De-Lid tool recommendations
sbclark replied to MarkW's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
Hi, Last year I purchased a de-lidded and binned processor from this company. They also provide a 1 year warranty. I picked up a guaranteed 5.2 GHz chip. Have been very happy with my choice. Currently, they are waiting for the release of the latest Intel chips.....so you have to check daily to see when and what they have availabile. https://siliconlottery.com/ Buying a chip from Amazon or NewEgg is a crapshoot as you don’t know if your chip is slow or fast at a set voltage. Thanks downscc, I filed a ticket with PMDG website. Bill Clark

Hi, I recently had to uninstall, then reinstall, all my PMDG 737 600/700 add-on and PMDG 737 800/900 base packages due to a corruption issue. The reinstall seemed to go well, as I can access all the the 737 models (600/700/800/900) but I am having an issue getting access to my previous "skins." These skins show up in the folder below, where they were originally saved, but I'm not able to access them: C:\Users\My Name\AppData\Roaming\PMDG\PMDG Operations Center\Liveries When I pull up the PMDG Operations Manager, the Livery Downloader shows the "skins" as previously installed, however, they don't show up at all in the Livery Manager? How can I fix? Bill Clark

It is still not working..................

I'm having the same issue in 2D mode and also when in VR mode with the Oculus Rift. Bill Clark

Hi, Does the civilian version support the GTN 650? Bill Clark -
Rob, I pretty much fly VR most of the time. A good mechanism for interacting would be Voice Attack (VA), in addition to a HOTAS, which I use when flying in VR. Using VA, create audible check lists that could be stepped through once a check list is started. For example: Pilot - "Check List Cessna 182" VA - Starting Check List. Pilot - "Next" VA - "Check all switch positions and then turn on Battery" Pilot - "Next" VA - "Prime engine 3 times" Note - From this short, made up off the top of my head, you can get the drift.................. Also, if the vendors would mount a camera on the front of headsets, that could be turned on or off when needed to view other monitors, or documents, or interact using a keyboard on a second PC, this would go a long ways towards addressing our needs.. I'm surprised Vive or Oculus have not considered this feature on their next version, or maybe they will? I'm looking forward to the new PMDG 747-8 that will include an EFB. This will permit the viewing of Navigraph charts while under the headset, and I assume you could also view PDF files of self-created check lists or other documentation. These features are supposed to be migrated to the other aircraft such as the PMDG 737 and 777. So this will address my needs for airliners I fly. In my opinion, the biggest objection to VR currently, from people I have demoed this technology to, is the resolution. Bill Clark

Now that it was just announced (7/27/18) that the Operations Center will be pushing updates to the PMDG 737NGX and PMDG 777, will there be a fix for the Light Sensor that is causing a "white box" to appear when in VR? Bill Clark

[27JUL18] A couple quick, important items for you...

Look forward to update. I use VR a lot with PMDG aircraft. Just want to know if latest update fixed the “White” box Light Sensor issue when using Oculus Rift Goggles? Bill Clark -
Yes, a good question..........I want to use the mouse as well. Bill Clark

Back on topic of "White Box," any word on progress? Bill Clark

Another SODE process is still running in the background (ERROR)
sbclark replied to its_TheGorge's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I've seen the same thing you need to allow more time. Sometimes, if the P3D crashes, then SODE will not get shut down. Bill Clark -
Where is this "light sensor" window, I have never heard of it? Bill Clark
-
Kyle, Also, the white box is not permitting the HUGS to display data when the 737 NGX is loaded. Bill Clark
-
Hi, Yes I see these white boxes directly ahead of the Captains view out the from of the aircraft for the 747-400 and the 737NGX. I didn't try the 777, but I suspect it will do the same. Any pop-up, like the CDU or ND shows up on top of the "white box." Also, the display on the HUGS of the 737 NGX is blank or all white. I have not tried the Zoom Feature Bill Clark

[12MAY18] First Cockpit Video Preview of the PMDG 747-8

GCBraun, I’m with you on seeing the EFB in VR, the only environment I fly in using FlyInside. All the charts and documents in full view under the hood! Bill Clark -
If you have a spare PC or Laptop, network it and put P2A on the client PC. I have done this for years with my weather app and now P2A. It takes the load off the sim PC. Bill Clark

Great, look forward to carrier landings soon.............and later, a full blown detailed carrier. I live near San Diego, where Top Gun was filmed years ago! Bill Clark
