  1. Yes the packs are required for pressurization.
  2. I have the Max Payne movie, it's interesting. Like a super-violent comic book come to life.I did like the other Max Payne games but I've lost quite a bit of faith in virtually all PC games any more. I utterly can't stand walking (or flying) around following a little glowing marker that tells me where to go, taking the path that some game designer decided I HAD to take. That's probably my biggest complaint with Flight right now.I had been so excited for the new Operation Flashpoint game a couple years ago. O.F. was one of my older favorite games but just became too dated for me. It was great because they gave you a mission, and you ohad to figure it out by yourself. You had a map, a compass and a gun. I'm smart enough to look at a map and determine a good course of approach to an objective, so please let me.Same thing with the first Ghost Recon.I liked the America's Army game too but missed a single player element.Meanwhile, I found a Win7 compatible version of Fleet Command and have been enjoying that game once again with a friend.
  3. Haha, it's already en route. By this Friday I will have 2 iPad 1s, 1 iPad 2, 1 iPad 3, 2 iPhone 3GSs, 1 iPhone 4 and one iPhone 4S... I't be nice if Apple gave developers discounts...
  4. Honestly if I didn't need to buy an iPad 3 I would get an iPad 2. I still love my 2 and it works great with all apps.
  5. I'm giving one of my iPad 1s to my 5 year old...
  6. If I knew I'd have them in all sizes, lol.
  7. That formula works more for jets - it's not going to take you 18 miles to descend 6000 feet in any of the planes in flight. If you're in the RV and descending at about 1000 feet per minute that's 6 minutes. If you're flying at 120 kts, that's 2 miles per minute so a grand total of 12 milesyou can make adjustments as you see fit. If you want a slower descent you can set power for about 500 feet per minute and then you're distance shoots up to 24 miles. Just remember the formula depends on how you're descending.
  8. Yes arwen, I actually do that too, I just mean nothing is going to break or wear out, nor do you HAVE to reduce the prop speed to slow down, :)Amedee- best post I've ever seen on the variable speed prop!
  9. Like others have mentioned the variable speed prop is more for fuel efficiency and engine wear and tear which is virtually useless in a sim, and totally useless in Flight. In the better pay wares for FSX (J41 or Turbine Duke and others) it does make a difference, but in Flight there's no real reason not to leave it at full forward all the time.
  10. Use the black roller switch that is located on the center pedestal. You can find this info in the manual/tutorial.If you were at cruise altitude and wanted to descend:1. Reduce power, the aircraft will start slowing as it maintains altitude.2. Set the speed to whatever descent speed you want to use, I use 180 or 190kts.3. Set the altitude to your new altitude4. As the aircraft speed nears the target speed that you set, select IAS mode and select ALT ARM mode. The aircraft will then adjust it's pitch to maintain the target speed. Once the aircraft achieves the altitude you set, it switch back to ALT mode and you will have to increase throttle some.
  11. IAS mode is not an auto throttle. IAS mode simply pitches your aircraft up or down until the speed reaches whatever speed you set.
  12. Tom you feel my pain my friend. There are a couple of other topics exactly like this going on right now where I want to interject my product to greatly help people out but I don't want to get myself in trouble. To me, it's not about the tiny bit of money I make from the sales but being able to show someone a really awesome tool that they can use.But a word of warning. Please DO NOT buy FS Kneeboard right now. FS Kneeboard 2 will be released very soon and has a lot of awesome new features.Take a look here:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/365148-fs-kneeboard-2-announced/page__fromsearch__1
  13. Well we will have to cross that bridge when we get there. But right now there are great resources for charts in Hawaii and Alaska
  14. Or you could order an actual sectional for 8 bucks, or you could get an app that displays them, or you could go to skyvector to get sectionals.
  15. No, I dont believe so.http://www.iconaircraft.com/specifications-and-features.html
  16. so...why not go direct to SELIC from ALANA?Or if you want to make it an easier turn go to the FIX page, make a waypoint about 8miles from SELIC at about 230 degrees. Are you saying the plane is going direct to HNL after ALANA? That's a lost comms procedure. It sounds like you're making this a lot more complicated than it needs to be.Or maybe the biggest question of all...why are you trying to make the FMC do this for you? Just switch it to HDG SEL mode and vector yourself.
  17. Maybe you could create a waypoint on the FIX page?Like if you wanted to cross XXX VOR at a heading of 090, you could create a waypoint on the FIX page on the 270 radial 10 miles from XXX and insert it before XXX.Would that get the effect you're looking for?
  18. I believe today is the last day for Runway Finder, unless they changed their mind.
  19. I actually agree with that fully. I still vote yes, because I want to see those quality add-ons in Flight but you're right about there being huge advantages to the DLC style distribution.
  20. Actually - I got the new Apple TV too and I'm more excited about that than the new iPad, lol!
  21. Now that many of us have had a chance to experience Flight I thought this would make an interesting subject. Some add-on developers have said that they would no longer be able to make a profit if they had to give up some income to Microsoft. Let's say that in a year MS allowed third party development, but requested a 30% cut from the sale of the content, similar to how the App Store works. As a result, your favorite add-on developers increased their prices to counter that. That means a $70 add on for FSX/FS9 would now cost $100 for Flight. That way MS get's 30% ($30) and the developer get's the same income from the sale ($70) as they would have on FSX/FS9.Would you pay the extra?Personally, my answer would likely be yes - especially as more areas are added to Flight and assuming they continue to add things that I would like to have, such as real-world weather, TrackIR etc.
  22. Really the only thing in it I'd care about is the processor - which is awesome, but otherwise I dont think it's all that exciting. I had to buy one for testing, but if not for that I would be perfectly happy with my iPad 2.
