  1. What do you mean by Hubs? Controllers will normally staff the busiest airspace that they are qualified for that is available. This probably ends up being major airline hubs, but the thought process is to get the busier airports staffed with no consideration going into hubs. There also aren't 'controls' with this. With the exception of an advertised major event, controllers show up and work whichever position they want, whenever the want. The only controls put in place have to do with the controller's level of training. When a controller staffs up, is no different than when you decide to do a flight. They decided they are bored, decide to control, look to see if there's any traffic, pick their favorite position thats available, and log on. The busier ARTCC/FIRs will have a scheduling system in place to help keep it organized, but that shouldn't be confused with a staff member telling controllers when and where to control. Only during major events does the ARTCC staff handle staffing. We will look at what the event is and come up with a schedule based on where/when we anticipate traffic. Hope that answers your question

    FS 'Photography'

I have been a professional photographer for almost 15 years so making FS screenshots. The only edits I do are just t make it look like a, "real" photo, such as contrast or blur etc. Please enjoy, I have a lot to upload still!
  4. Amazing vids guys, thanks so much for sharing.
  5. "Momentary operation of the GA switch on the left POWER lever causes the FCC to engage the GA mode and cancel all other selected modes. The FCC produces commands to achieve a wing level, approximately 8 deg pitch up. If autopilot is engaged when GA is selected it will be disengaged. Selection of any lateral mode commands lateral guidance, but maintains the pitch angle. Selection of a vertical mode cancels the GA mode."
  6. Config type files are usually some of the first files to be written into a program. Many developers (myself included) will include settings for as many possible features as they think they may include at first. It's easier to do that than to constantly add new config files which can lead to hard to fix bugs. I think it's probably just as likely that, in the beginning of Flight development, they had planned/hoped to have these things in it, but then changed their mind for whatever reason. Leaving the settings in-place makes sense for two reasons. Firstly it makes it possible to change your mind. Secondly, and more importantly, there may be portions of the code that rely on having that setting in place. Removing settings file may cause these other portions of the game crash when it goes looking for a setting that no longer exists and the developer forgot about.
  7. No problem. I'm very old school, I program my own FMCs and plot my own routes. I just wish there was a website similar to sky vector for Europe, which is where I do most my flying now. I've never used a FS flight plan and wouldn't even know how to import one if I wanted to. But I'm old school, I only used GPS when my flight instructor made me. When it came to VOR navigation, I pointed out that the plane didn't have a DME. He said, sure it does, and turned on the GPS and did direct to the VOR I was tracking to get a pretend DME. The irony was lost on him lol.
  8. Those are all normal, (how real autopilots work)
  9. So here's the flight... Take off from SAN, ATC will give you a vector to the north to intercept MZBs 293 radial which you will follow until about 110 DME from MZB where it intercepts V27. Track V27 to SXC (actually V208 follows this same segment as well) From SXC track V208 to WEEZL then VTU. From VTU track the 282 radial for 26 DME to KWANG. KWANG is a the IAF for the VOR approach, but more likely you would just be vectored to the airport. Not sure about simroutes, since I wouldn't use it. I always do these myself on skyvector. V27 WEEZL KWANG
  10. I would just tune the copilot's display to the second VOR and wait to cross it. You could use the RMI needle as well and just wait for the 'tail' of the RMI needle to point at the radial of the second VOR you want to monitor, but my first method would be more accurate. The RMIs are more for the NDBs I'd say. Sometimes though I will use the RMI needle when following an ARC from a VOR. I will fly my plane so that the needle is pointed 90 degrees left/right then fly my plane so the DME stays what it needs to be. Not sure what you mean about the autopilot? The NAV mode on the A/P will track to/from the NAV station currently captured on your display. It can be either NAV1 or NAV2, but it has to be captured first. Is that what you meant?
  11. Have you reset the flight to cold/dark or are you using a save flight? Sometimes saved flights get corrupted like this.
  12. Also try the windows key plus the up cursor key
  13. If there were a solution I'd sure love to hear about it. It's worse when you're coming in for a landing - and the airport is reporting 1/4mi vis ability and you can clearly see the entire airport, then you cross that magical altitude and it drops down to 1/4.
  14. I don't know where I learned about GMT but I'm virtually positive it wasn't in school. Or maybe I had learned on my own before it finally was taught.
  15. Out of curiosity - why do you need zulu time for filing a VATSIM flight plan?
  16. TrackIR is awesome and has it's place, but for me, that place is not in an airliner. I use Space+Mouse for everything. Love trackIR in GA and ther A-10 though
  17. Me neither. I use a firewall, but I know how not to get a "virus". It's completely impossible to use the internet and NOT get some kind of "virus". But as long as you're not going to questionable sites, or blindly opening email attachments you should be fine. It's kind of like saying you are going to wear a biohazard suit everywhere you go just because you might catch a cold. No anti-virus software can stop every threat, so even if you DO use it, you're still able to get something here or there. I'm pretty adventurous though, I don't even use hand sanitizing wipes when I go to the supermarket and get a cart. It's a miracle I'm not dead yet. I could count on one hand the number of times I have gotten something on my computer that caused me any kind of grief, and every instance I was able to remove the threat myself.
  18. I tried it once and although it (sort of) worked I just thought it was too impractical. That iPad is much better suited for charts and what not. Of course I have two other monitors that are just as capable of displaying a CDU as Air Display, without the lag.
  19. A computer "virus" doesn't work like that. You have nothing to worry about from your weather software, or FSX or just about anything else like that.
  20. Air Display is the only option right now. The ability for a third party application to read what is being displayed in the NGX CDU is not possible with the current NGX SDK.
