  1. I've seen a few ACARS/Dispatch messages that would definitely violate DVA's profanity rules, haha. Of course the airline wasn't Delta...
  2. Dang I was close... Yep Tavenui Airport in Fiji. Here's how I got there: First step was the registration, which placed it in Fiji - that's the easy part. http://commons.wikim...rman_Trislander <- I had to figure out what kind of plane that was http://jetphotos.net...rman Trislander <- That same plane where it was based in Nausori Fiji - led me to believe it was based in nausori http://www.airlinero.../Air_Fiji.shtml <- Fiji Air destinations, used this to see where it was flying to out of nausori http://www.flickr.co...04977/lightbox/ < Picture taken in almost the same spot (look at the fence and palm trees in the BG) Part of my old job used to be scrounging up info from minute pieces of information like this. I loved it, it's so fun.
  3. Yeah - Women, as in plural, a "pack," if you will... can be "Guys," such as, "Hi guys." However... When referring to a singular woman, I can assure you that calling her a "guy," will not lead to anything good. I do consider myself an expert in this matter, having been with the same gal for 15 years... My success are evident with this year's birthday present from her. A $500 dollar "joystick!"
  4. Thanks SO much for finally getting that Full Version bug fixed!
  5. Was it supposed to be out before the 777? I think I got that impression from somewhere but now I'm not sure it was ever said for sure. I hope so, I'm looking more forward to this than the 777!
  6. Awesome info Phillip, thanks. Regarding the throttles, how do you handle reverse thrust? On the saitek there is a detent, and below the detent the throttle sends a button press event which I have used FSUIPC to get to function sort of like reverse thrust. Is there anything like that on the CH?
  7. I was looking at the eclipse actually, but I couldn't make out what some of the buttons were. What do you use for trim? It looked like the only buttons in the thumb area were left-right rocker buttons. What are those black lever looking things on either side of the column? Thanks for the input guys. I also don't need to stay in the 100 dollar range, although the $1100 yoke I saw on another thread is too much. It doesn't seem like there's anything between that though, am I wrong?
  8. This sucks! About two weeks ago I lost my old X-52. It finally just died on me. I wasn't real upset though because my birthday is coming up and, thanks to my lovely wife, there's a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog sitting in the box at her office waiting for my birthday. But tonight, I just lost my Saitek yoke/throttles. Well technically it's just the throttles that quit working, but still! Anyway - sure I could just by another Saitek throttle, but before I do that I'm kind of curious if there's anything else out there I should look at. I've used it for 4 years or so. I was happy with it, but I know it's not the best piece of the hardware in the world. Any suggestions for a good yoke? Edit: Post number 1,000 (oops, I was wanting to do something crazy for post number 1000)

I love how realistic the sky is
  11. Thinking out loud here - Could the reason behind the WWII planes be the fact that they (may?) not have to go through as many legal/licensing hassles as they would if they were going to include a much more modern plane?
  12. Looks like congress has weighed in on the Aeronav chart fees issue: http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/Senators_Rein_In_AeroNav_206571-1.html
  13. J15 starts at BTG, so you would have tracked whatever radial he told you to until BTG then joined J15 on your merry way. The key is you would NOT have used the FMC for this. Everyone always gets so locked into trying to do everything with the FMC. The plane has a VOR/LOC mode for a reason :) The FMC is great if you're flight goes as planned, but if something like that happens, pilots should take over and go back to the basics until they are at a point where the FMC can take over again. No real pilots would be wasting time during their departure trying to re-program the FMC.
  14. Can't really say for sure. It's pretty easy to be uncoordinated in FS though since there's no way to, "feel" it. I haven't done any actual tests with the plane to verify it. It sure felt right to me though. There's a good chance I WAS single engine, just because I have found myself abusing the Duke and it killing an engine on me before.
  15. I have only seen something like this in FS once and that was with the Turbine Duke. I can't remember exactly what I was doing wrong, but I know it was one of my first two or three flights. I was approaching a mountain airport (7000+ altitude) and I think I was simply just not paying attention to my airspeed, but regardless, the plane started to buffet, then within a very short period of time the right wing stalled and the plane instantly flipped maybe 140 degrees to the right and was in the ground within 2 seconds. I was utterly blown away by it because, for one, I had screwed up, which no one wants to do, even in a sim. But secondly, the plane behaved EXACTLY like I was taught it would in such a situation. It really is chilling to see how fast it can happen, when all "appears" fine. Every other FS plane I have seen "stall" like that always just stay nose high and fall level into the ground.
  16. Yes, it really happened. In fact, I even heard of it happening somewhere else too. Another one I heard about was when some student pilot called up with his VA's callsign (United 500 or whatever) and the controller said something else similar to this isn't VATSIM, but I don't know if that one is true, lol. I do know that some student pilots have occasionally said, or at least started to say their VA callsign on freq though.
  17. Rob - The left/right click+drag to operate the engine controls in the Duke are by far my favorite of any other planes. A perfect example of why developers should be able to come up with their own ideas (not sure if you guys were the first to do it but it was the first I saw of it). I have also noticed that for whatever reason, some simmers seem to be more prone to thinking something they like and are used to is the "right" way and developers should do what they say. We all sim in slightly different ways. From the 2D/3D argument, to time acceleration to which ATC to use etc etc etc, we all have our own preferences that we all enjoy. Sure I would love it if all developers developed their planes exactly like I like, but I can understand that would upset probably 90% of all other simmers.
