  1. I'm having an issue when flying into Maccosim EGCC in FS2020. I'm using RJ100 and FSLT traffic. Using Auto FPS set to 25. Around 4dme on the ILS I lose performance to slide show levels, as low as 6 fps. This seems to continue until about 2dme when it slowly recovers. Spawning in at EGCC I get around 25 fps, looking at my FSUIPC logs an outbound flight has the lowest FPS as 16, inbound 6. Is there something that can be changed in settings, it must be due to something being rendered at this distance. Don't have this problem elsewhere, even at Heathrow.
  2. In my experience, if I use any driver newer than 572.83 with DX11 and DLSS I get the "driver hung" crash. If I don't use DLSS I can use the newer drivers, but the trade-off in loss of performance isn't worth it. I have a 4 year old AMD 5600X with a 3070 card and 32GB of RAM, running at 4K.
  3. Steve, I recently installed the fixer, but without ticking the ASN box. ( I too have AS16) I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but didn't get the option box. How do I activate the ASN? Regards Dave
  4. Thanks Jim for your excellent support, as I said earlier I fear this is going to be tough one to figure out, mainly because it happens so randomly. I'll have a read of the CTD guide again and get back to you with any observations.
  5. Thanks Charlie, though the problem happens so randomly i fear it will be impossible to track down the cause. I repeated the flight today and it all went without a hitch.
  6. I have been having an intermittent problem, where FSX-SE freezes its graphics completely yet the sound carries on playing (engines, environment etc). It is not the 8 min 15 freeze as it doesn't unfreeze and the only way to close FS is via Task manager. I run FSX-SE in windowed mode and the mouse curser does not show over the FS window, only over the desktop part of the screen and the windows taskbar. I have Orbx Global, Vector, Europe LC and England installed. Using W10. I also use ASN, Rex Direct + Soft Clouds, Radar Contact, AI Smooth and AISeperation, and also AirTraffic Manager to limit AI to 100 aircraft. There is no problem with OOM as I had more than 1GB free when it happened today, and a similar amount on the other occasions. It has happened with ConcordeX (twice), the Wilco Airbus and also the Wilco E-Jet 190. When it happened with Concorde it seemed to be almost in the same place on both occasions, somewhere just after the decel point over the Bristol Channel which made me think it may have been something to do with scenery loading. However it happened again using the Airbus on taxi out at UK2000 Heathrow. I googled possible causes and read about a possible problem with FS Realtime, so I stopped using that after that lock up. After that I had done about 18 flights with no problems (varying from sub 1 hour flights up to 4+ hours) until today, when it froze again just as I was reaching cruising altitude of FL360 over the English Channel en route to Malaga from Stansted, which leads me to think it possibly isn't a scenery problem either. There is no entry for FSX-SE in the Event Viewer, only application hangs for AISmooth and RC, and in Task manager the Processes Tab shows FS as normal with slight variations in CPU and memory usage as if the program was running as normal. However, the details tab showed FSX as Not Responding. I have a 1 year old PC - i5-4690 quad core 3.5Mhz, GTX750 Ti (2GB), 8GB RAM, runs FS at 30 FPS (locked) no problem away from UK2000 EGLL/EGKK where it can drop to about 15-20. Anyone got any ideas/suggestions?
  7. I use the PSS A320 family using W7 and FS9 and the Numpad + and - still work for me. Must be something else that has changed your commands.
  8. I noticed today that the 2 Sheffield airports (Sheffield-Doncaster and Sheffield City) are both in the North Sea on the ASE map. It would seem that they are both showing their position as aprox 1 degree E when it should be 1 degree W. Where does the ASE map get the co-ordinates for airports from?
  9. Hi Kyle, Like you I used 6.5 for years, and only upgraded to ASE last week so i haven't had too much experience of it. However I also bought GEPro, and the two products have certainly improved my FS9 experience.
  10. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/363037-server-issuesslowdowns/I've had an e-mail from Joshua saying there are server issues, as stated in this thread.Hopefully it will be resolved and as Martin said in reply #10 AS6.5 does still work properly - it's just the flightplan processing that is broken!
  11. I've submitted a ticket to HiFi regarding this problem, so we'll see what happens. I was seriously considering purchasing ASE as 6.5 is very old anyway- can't find much on the forum regarding any comparisons between the 2 though, so not sure if it would be advantageous to do so.
  12. Martin,Mine was the same a couple of days ago, and I haven't changed anything!I did wonder myself what caused it.
  13. Think you can get around the chances of reloading AI by changing the settings. I believe that AI reloads if the time is changed by (guess) 30 seconds or so. If you set the auto update to a relatively short time (mine is 2 mins) and the update accuracy to 0 seconds then FS never gets far enough away from the real time for AI to be updated even on a long flight.
  14. Luckily, I kept the page as a web archive!!It's all Jim's from now on!The following is a list of settings that provide the most realistic visuals using ASv6 and FS2004.Before I begin, some disclaimers:1. Realistic is in the eye of the beholder. What is realistic for one may not be realistic for another.2. Performance may vary from one computer to another, even with the same hardware. I will try to comment on things as necessary.OK, on to the list!1. Make sure all your hardware drivers are up to date. This includes video card, motherboard drivers, DirectX, and sound card drivers.2. In FSUIPC make sure you are using Default Settings and Weather Settings Off.3. In FS2004: Sight Distance set to 60. This setting does not affect the visibility so don’t try to control visibility with it. Cloud Draw Distance set to 30. Now, this is one that can vary. Some like clouds drawn in the distance, so increase it! Some don’t like the flickering, as clouds are redrawn from low detail to high detail. This happens around 30 miles. Some machines cannot handle more than 30 miles. 3D Clouds set to 100% Cloud Coverage set to Maximum Lock your framerate at an acceptable level; do not run at Unlimited. Acceptable is anywhere from 20 to 30. Yes, your mileage may vary with this one. Please do not debate stuff about the FPS of movies, television sets, video games, the refresh rate of your display, or other PC games. It is not worth the time! Dynamic Weather: None4. In Active Sky Graphics: Choose a resolution that your computer can handle and still looks good for you. For high-end machines 256 or 512. For low-end machines 64 or 128. Do not over-rate your computer here! A machine 3+ years or older that has not been upgraded IS NOT a high-end machine. Maybe at the time of purchase it was, but it isn’t any more! DXT clouds can help performance, but detail is slightly lost. Render to Texture must be turned On in FS2004 for this box to become active. Also, make sure that you do not have multiple Display Driver sections in your FS9.cfg file. Make sure to click on the Save Changes button.5. On to the ASv6 Options: Online Updates On Use Update Suppression On Use Local Range Suppression On Visibility Smoothing On Enforce Visibility Limits On Now we have 2 Options next that some users feel are Realistic and some that don’t: Fog Layer Generation and Depict FS9 Haze Layer. I don’t think so, so I turn them Off. Minimum Visibility set to zero Maximum Visibility set to 59, 50 or 29. Let’s look at each one. But before we do: What about 60 or more? Well, that produces the FS2004 condition of seeing forever, and I don’t think that is realistic so I don’t ever consider that value. 59 just cuts into this forever condition and gives a far away haze look. 50 brings this a bit closer and can blend the sky and horizon interface. Sometimes I use 50, but mostly I use 59. Now, 29 gives a very hazy look and hides the clouds as FS04 draws them for the first time. At higher altitudes, I think this is too low. Remember to restart both ASV6 and FS04 when adjusting this value. Under Winds and Turbulence I’ll let users make their own selections. Overcast Enhancement On Force Thunderstorms with CB On Extend Thunderstorm Layers On Add Rain With TS Reports On Under Graphics: Auto-Submit checked On Under Themes: Wx-Influenced in both boxes. If you don’t use flight plans, you are better off putting All Random in both boxes.Well, I think that is it. I hope that you will take these ideas and give them a try.Hope this helps,Jim

World Of AI is my recommendation for free and legal!!PAI is good, but not as good as WoAI, nor as frequently updated.

Hi Martin, If you want to fly offline then RC is certainly the best ATC addon you can get. I used to fly exclusively online but I got a little frustrated with the lack of online ATC when I do most of my fliying (by necessity during the day and at weekends). RC is in the process of being updated to V5, although no date has yet been set. AFAIK you won't get the new one free, although I believe there will be a discount for version 4 users. there is a forum for Radar Contact here on AVSIM which will give you more information.

  18. Hi again Ron, thanks for putting the time in to help. Furthermore:-Yes I have put in the updated c4 file, however it was this that I had to change to the entry quoted above as otherwise the First Choice entry appeared as First Cambodia (quite why I have no idea - must be something to do with the internal workings of RC).When I click the speaker on the aircraft selection box it does play correctly, though not in the Graham Jackson voice.JET SET is in the pilotscript folderIf I open the Voices- Pilot selection it plays correctly for all pilots EXCEPT the Graham Jackson voice - but strangely it does play in the Geri Jackson voice which does NOT have a Jet Set Wav!(this is why I copied in a Jet Set Wav from another folder to the G Jackson folder)I think I'll try e-mailing Graham if there are no other suggestions - perhaps I should just use another voice, but I've always used the Graham Jackson voice as it's most like my own!
  19. Hi Ron, Thanks for your input - however:-I did enter the callsign exactly as you describe - the program itself must have changed the first zero to 2 4 1 6 as that was the Flight Number I used. Can't find any other entries that look odd.The script files for Jet Set ( and others) were in the Zip file that Graham Jackson had uploaded to AVSIM, along with the WAV files - However - He didn't include a WAV file for the voice that I was using (ironically his own!!). Perhaps that is why it picked up the Juliet?Although he didn't include Jet Set in the Geri Jackson voice yet that picks up the Jet Set (albeit in a different voice) and does play it correctly. I copied a JET SET WAV from another folder and added it to Graham Jackson's voice file (number 22) yet it still persists in saying Juliet.Perhaps I should e-mail Graham directly for assistance?
  20. I recently added the UK Airports and Callsigns by Graham Jackson, and started a flight using the First Choice Callsign of JET SET. I had to change the c4.csv file to get the correct callsign to show to the following:-JET SET,JET SET,First Choice Airways - UK,2 4 1 6 , 12416 is the Flight Number I was operating - not sure on the rest of the entry - I followed what seemed to be the structure.Yet when the pilot spoke he kept saying Juliet as the callsign rather than Jet Set, though the controllers always said Jet Set.When Selecting the callsign in RC the entry was J(et Set) arther than a pure JET SET.Any Ideas as to what is wrong - or needs to be changed?
  21. Andy, Did you miss my reply #1 above?CheersDave
  22. Hi Andy, I downloaded an internal textures file, but I can't remember where from! I'll e-mail you it if you leave your address.Dave
