  1. Avro RJ for me - I suppose ONE day lolJohn Ellison
  2. You'll find the biggest loss is turning the bloom effect on (mighty waste of resources) then water textures at the high end - reduce to mid and you should be ok. The other is road traffic and then air traffic but find a level that suits you.Don't worry about frame rates as long as it's smooth and it should be using a quad core cpu.The i5 has no hyperthreading but as fsx doesn't use that anyway.... I have the i7 myself and find hardly any issues. 4Gb ram is fine too and at a guess W7 64-bit?All mine is almost at the default settings and I find most 'tweaks' are a bit vague (watch me get flamed for that lol). Seems like the ATI card is the way to go now for fsx - has a few jaggies but doesn't suffer the Nvidia curse. My advice... find settings that suit YOU, not everyone else. You can also save settings for different scenarios.John Ellison
  3. SLOPS??? It's not Air Transat meal service is it??? hehe John Ellison
  4. Probably pay to 'Run as Administator' too and turn off the antivirus before installing. Vista doesn't like external programs.John Ellison
  5. Cheers - votes cast and Chris will have at least one sale when it is released. Just as well have the whole set lolIt does take a long time for AOA to do them I admit but it's also a hell of a lot of work too.John Ellison
  6. This was supposed to be quite loud too lol - Look under Moise section.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XF-84H_ThunderscreechJohn Ellison
  7. Argue all you wish about which is better as far as I'm concerned lol I use both platforms myself and until the weather is sorted out in fsx I'll continue to do so. It's taken years for fs9 to get to the point it is now and has come to the end of it's proverbial rope hence developers are moving on.There is no pint in developing for fs9 when the sales don't cover the cost of development as is happening now. If it costs say 10k to develop a simulation and you only get back 7k there is no point in doing it for profit.Yes fs9 is better then fsx in some ways but the other way round exists as well; can we leave it at that?Anyway the original question was 'what's happening with the 737 and Dash?' and as usual been hijacked into a pointless discussion about versions so probably the thread will be locked in any event.Happy New Year to ALL simmersJohn Ellison
  8. If the plane it very light it causes all sorts of climb/descent issues as the engines are VERY powerful (you'll need to derate a lot). You don't say the weight and also have you set the FMC up correctly for the flight? Is the trim set at takeoff as per the fmc?John Ellison
  9. Just one thing to note - you won't get wingviews in the FS9 version. This has come up numerous times.John Ellison
  10. Might be worth a quick look in the sidstar file to see if there is a KEDW.TXT file as looking in mine the last one I had was in airac 0909. The airport is in the 0912 airac airports.dat but no sidstar for it.John Ellison
  11. Best to see the postion in the windshield 0f the runway during an autoland approach first; then BEFORE the MDA is reached disconnect the autopilot in a VFR approach, else the plane will level out. Just keep the same descent rate and keep an eye on the runway postion till touchdown.practice, practice, practice... it'll all fall into place in the end.John Ellison
  12. When you set up the flight in the fms you'll find on the page with the V1 VR and V2 speeds that appear in bold when the keys are pressed that under these is the stab trim setting - just click to show. Set the trim and you're away.John Ellison
  13. For uk airports use this linkhttp://www.nats-uk.ead-it.com/public/index...p;Itemid=3.htmlJohn Ellison
  14. The airport has also to be in the airports.dat file I believe and if the runway length is less than is set in the pmdg options then it wont show up.IE if the runway is 5500feet and options are set to 6000feet then no joy.John Ellison
  15. There is a Swissair MD11 dvd (Worldairroutes I think) as well - not so excellent as the ITVV one but very interesting none the less. Covers flight from Switzerland to South America and back with most aspects of the flight.John Ellison
  16. I'd love to see the C dropped lol Avro RJ would go down really well here... oh well, one day :( Will wait for the Dash-8 anyway and then the NGX - will be out for Chistmas but not saying which one lol.John Ellison
  17. Installed on W7 on a seperate hdd and no problems at all here. If installing to the main drive you'll need to run everything as admin.John Ellison
  18. Daniel if thats the 747x you'll need the new AOA installer from their forum. I had a texture file from when it was converted to fsx but I have since downloaded the new installer... haven't run it but it's supposed to be ok.The one on the dvd is for fs9 only.John Ellison
  19. If you look in the FS9/FMCWP/NAVDATA folder in fs9 you'll fine a file named 'cycle_info.txt' that'll tell you what cycle your fms data is. On routefinder you can select that cycle on the drop down list, you should be ok to go then.As regards adding the MD11 to your hanger - you've seen what a step up from the B1900 the 747 is... the MD11 is a similar step up (and a bit more optimised).John Ellison
  20. The fsbuild pmdg md-11 performance file was made by SaturnV. Just PM him and he'll provide it if it's not up an AVSIM again.John Ellison
  21. 23E80 will do it.By putting the E in the middle the FMC will add the 100 to it to become N23 E180.I had a bit of a job yesterday trying to add N64.30.0 W080.00.0 as it didn't tie up with the 'long entry' waypoint system for the 747 as that says N6430.0/W08000.0 but all that gives is an error. I resolved it in the end though (N6430.0W08000.0). Seems the PMDG page is a bit rusty lol.http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/FMC_WP_Entry_Notes foir future reference.John Ellison
  22. What you aren't saying along with no name (reqd in this forum) is the scenario... VC? at a major airport? addon scenery? In -game graphics settings, like bloom, etc?I have an i7 2.8 and get that sort of rate at Aerosofts Heathrow in VC mode but in flight with 2d panel I can get about 100fps if I run unlimited, I run at locked 30fps most of the time though.John Ellison
  23. As for the second part perhaps an application called Walk and Follow might help.John Ellison
  24. If you load the 747 almost empty it will overshoot the altitudes - it's a verrry powerful plane. If you're light just use v/s and a large derate to control it.John Ellison
