  1. @ GeofA and Glen could you tell me which ones you have that work? And also what I might need to fix if I could. Thanks.
  2. Hi all I am thinking of buying a new payware add-on. I have most of the top tier stuff. Beach duchess, falco, MU2. I was wondering which planes mostly work with xpx 64, the 337 doesn't yet, which is frustrating, but i was wondering if some of the older//less complex ones do. I am looking for a speedy twin or single that's full IFR. If you know of any others too, I would love to hear about them. Thanks
  3. I an reinstalling FSX along-side XPX in my rig. I think my problem was always the additional programs that support fsx causing some sort of PC log-jam and crashes to desktop. So i decided install only the plane I am going to fly, the airports i am going to fly between, a weather addon, shade or whatever people are using now, and HDE clouds. Thats it, no more 60 GB installs with tons of unused scenery, it just leads to problems and frustration.
  4. Actually yes XPX will take advantage of SLI, esp for higher AA levels, you can use Nvdia inspector to set SLI AA level much higher than the program rendering settings. BUT once you activate HDR, it does not seem to take advantage of SLI(maybe a few fps improvement). I had a GTX 690 and did this all the time. I had to give it up for a 680 4gb b/c XPX 64 going over the 2gb limit on the card.
  5. Frankly I think this is a much more effective letter.
  6. You have to put in a little work to make XPX look really good. Look at Commanche or MDMax.s screen shots, they are XPX and they look very good.
  7. I had a dual processor 4 core x 2 skulltrail with q6600 cpus at 4 ghz back in the day, it didn't do any better than a 4ghz E8600. AFAIK FSX uses the extra cores to load scenery, so it had very little in the way of blurries(which were bad with the dual core e8600).
  8. @ HighTower Yes XPX supports Track IR, it's not as smooth and responsive at FSX but it is useable. There is a free plugin that supports it better, but I am not sure if it's available for 64 bit yet. @BimmerCop. If you make Photoscenery XPX will put the default autogen on top if you so choose. If you want to fly in an area that is well mapped out be OSM, then you can put very high fidelity autogen on top.
  9. @ BimmerCop G2XPL is just like tileproxy and will make the textures from the source of your choice(right now I am generating a big LOD 18 scenery for Los Angeles) with plans to add (converted) Aerosoft LA and some airports. @Manny Aerosoft is already making stuff for XPX. PMDG has something the works. Some of the FT stuff can be converted over readily using FS2XP.
  10. Number 6 could be part of a print ad for the plane, really nicely done.
  11. Really Nice, hope you packed a scarf.
  12. Wow, that looks very ambitious. I hope they can pull it all off. I used to be an Orbx completeist too, but it's gotten such that there are too many addons. Good luck to them.
  13. Since there is a new format for cloud rendering (i.e. decreasing "puff" density into the distance) I don't know that a REX texture replacement will help improve the cloud appearance. But who knows Tim might just have something up his sleeve. Jose you should try (free)G2XPL and make your own photosceneries, then put the XPX default autogen or Open Street map on top of that, it looks very nice.
  14. (I wrote this post before Geoff's big one above) I hate getting into these things. But I will say, I have the Carenado SkyMaster and it's not working in XPX64. Geoff is right. I would expect a commercial member Jgregory to comport themselves with a higher level of diction. It's what I do in my own business. This comment is unacceptable "Your incessant whining is frankly annoying." Geoff did exactly what I did, we gave XPX a fair chance, we bought add-ons, and now they don't work. He has not been incessantly whining, as you say. In fact he has been very even-handed with his comments about the sim. I can live with this lack of functionality in a particular add-on, as we are undergoing a sea-change in the sim, but to be spoken to, in such a way...by a commercial developer is not acceptable.
  15. What are your rendering settings Rob? If I could get my sim to look like yours I would be happy.
  16. That first shot looks too real. What is your gamma setting?
  17. Andras Do I have to have the generic New zealand terrain installed in Xplane, or can I just put this in the addon scenery folder?
  18. Hey Guys I have been chipping away at XPX64 for the last few days, after getting over some growing pains regarding the sim not starting: http://forum.avsim.n...he-sim-to-load/ I have everything up, running, and smooth. I am so happy that we have the continued development of XPX, despite all of the growing pains that entails version to version. This is a big leap forward for the sim. I put together a folder of my most frequently used scenery to see how the sim would work for me. I am a ASEL private pilot, I limit my flying to the state of Florida in the USA, and I own a Vans RV-9A. It was very important for me to render an accurate home flying area, just as important as having a high fidelity flight model, I was able to do this with FSX, but the sim itself was unfortunately quite unstable, what with all of the add-ons I had, especially when I was trying to simulate instrument flying. I know that this may all have changed by now as all of these sims are evolving, but I have gone ahead and focused on XPX. I took some shots of typical areas I like to fly in central Florida using default XPX autogen, and a 17 LOD photoscenery of all of Florida(100 GB!) I created with G2XPL. The shots are with the Leading Edge Simulation Beech Duchess, and my combo of photo-scenery and default scenery. I am not an artist or a screen shot enthusiast, just a guy trying to become a safer RW pilot, so please forgive any screen-shot faux pas. Heading East on I4, at dusk on a gloomy day, looks really good, cars have lights, and the buildings seem to fit well. You have to see it in motion. Oy, this default GPS has got to be updated from this blurry mess. At least it forces you to practice your radio-navigation Central Florida really does look like this with lakes and subdivisions 50FPS and smooth as silk(it helps that it's gloomy and thus my viewing radius is about 10 nm, which makes a big difference to performance) I like the panel lighting, flying at dusk or at night is a joy. Okay, back to a brighter day, the visibility is about right for Florida summer haze, but it's not quite bright and glare-filled enough, maybe the gamma setting can improve this, maybe a bloom type plugin is available. All in all, I really enjoyed this, the sim is smooth and infinitely configurable. All of my Saitek Plugins are broken, so that's a bummer, and Track IR has gone hyperkinetic, I don't remember it jumping around this much before. I think this is where Austin's "Plausible" world can work, when overlayed onto photoscenry. This is just the default XPX street map data(OSM data for Florida is actually worse), places with better OSM data look even better(i.e. France). Cheers, happy simming.
  19. Okay quick follow-up I upped my pagefile to the recommended 12GB and it seems to be okay, several sim re-starts without any crashes, and a whole lot of twiddling with the rendering settings. I figure it probably a newly minted 64 bit app on a machine with 8gb of ram and two 2 GB Vram GPUS, this whole mess was giving me this: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (C0000005) Virtual Mem Free: -428548096, Malloc'ed Mem: 84691772, Largest Contig Block: 2146578432 Flags=0, Address = 0x6d8c930d which seemed like a memory address space issue. Hope it stays that way.
  20. Not yet I am starting to think the problem with with my virtual or real memory, i.e. I need more physical memory or I need to change my pagefile size, I'll try that first then, bug report.
  21. Okay, that's weird. I am definitely using an nvidia 690, I have never even had an ATI in this machine since I last installed windows.

  23. So I am really growing to like the new 64 bit version, but I can only make it load if I do some extreme maneuvers, like deleteing the preferences file. It seems to get stuck on "Will init ATC" I don't know what's going on at that part of the loading, but I don't even use XPX ATC, so can I cut that out?
  24. That'll show those Mooninites...
