Earth Simulations Sale
Hi Oliver The "Demo" you're seeing is definitely not from the ES scenery. I suspect it is an old UK2000 scenery demo that's still active on your system. Firstly try to identify the conflicting scenery and deactivate it, and then when it's gone check the order of the ES activated folders in FSX scenery library too ES-3D ES-SFX Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-Airports\ES-EGNS-Ronaldsway Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-Airports\ES-X9JU-Jurby Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-Airports\ES-X9AN-Andreas Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-Airports\ES-IOM-Helipads Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-Airports\ES-X9MR-MountRule Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-3D Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-TFX Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-SFX Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-FX Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-Photo Isle Of Man\ES-IOM-Terrain

Thanks to the last three posters, really pleased you like the screenshots. I'm generally not well known for my screenshot taking abilities  but it's such a beautiful area of the UK it's hard to go wrong. I've put the Autogenesis 3D feature list below, just in case you weren't yet aware of everything that's included...I think I'd be correct in still saying that this all amounts to the highest specification large scale (16,500km² ) photo real scenery ever developed for flightsim...or are there some others to compare it to now that I've missed appearing?

There's no huge frustration Chris, I've been mildly irritated by Petraeus's "opinion" ..but that's it. He'd always have an answer for anything I could possibly say I'm sure. Besides, anyone who's content to believe that a landclass based scenery is more real than our products are... well... is just plain wrong...simple as that. (In my own very humble opinion of course) and is never going to purchase anything from us because truly accurate scenery just isn't what they're looking for. Here's a selection of our own taken in FSX Clutch Cargo. Showing downloadable 60cm photoGenEsis and AutoGenEsis combined ( I should probably add that they're completely unedited) WARNING: The following images contain more than one shade of green. We accept no responsibility for the damage this might do to your eyesight!

Right Petraeus...with that being true, and also just because of the pointless time waste it is debating varying shades of green with you, is the reason I'm not playing. Your challenge should you wish to take it up, is to find us all a better Scottish highlands photo real scenery.

Hmmm I've played this game before Petraeus...you'll say it's saturated, I'll go off and Google a dozen images to show it's not. You'll find another dozen where the shades different again. Anyone can play..., it's fun if you've got nothing better to be doing with your life.

We'd rather not try to speculate on that 777, mainly because we don't want to raise expectations but also because it's almost impossible to give a meaningful answer. It'll all be as fast as we can possibly manage is all I can say. This is also our vision for the project Chris. It's just not humanly possible for ourselves to do all we're doing and to model a whole bunch of bespoke landmarks at the same time. But the addition of a few notable landmark buildings in amongst the more generic Autogenesis 3D will make each area as instantly recognisable as the Isle of Man project is now to anyone that's ever been there in real life. So when do you start?

It's not possible for us to include Northern Ireland at the present time sadly. Unfortunately we're not as well catered for in the UK as developers in the US are, and we have to pay expensive licences for our source data here. a royalty rate of 25% or even 35% is not uncommon. In the case of Northern Ireland there isn't even the option of licensing the data (yet), and to buy it outright is simply out of reach. :( You've had no problems with running Isle of Man Chris, so I'm confident you're in for a pleasant surprise ;)

Yes I guess, although we hadn't thought of it in that term exactly. We are moving to the opposite end of the UK next. Our reasoning is to interest those that have no interest in Scotland currently, but that do for England & Wales, and to show the difference updated data and our own colour enhanced photography can have over the existing GenX and FTX products that already cover the southern regions.

It's very similar yes, texture detail is the same and density of coverage is too.But over a very much larger 16,500km² area which incorporates the Scottish highlands as some of the UK's most spectacular scenery. The exception is that there are fewer bespoke landmark models to be seen compared to Isle of Man, which is very heavily laden with exact replicas of buildings and landmarks. The other difference is there are no highly detailed airports in this product, which is already covered well by other products that we sell. The thing I'll say is higher quality IMHO, is the nightlighting.

Hi Novation That makes sense, we've tried to provide an option that'll suit everyone. :)

Hi The screenshots we have available at the moment are showing the 60cm. We'll get some more as soon as we can of the 30cm separately. The extra definition provided by the 30cm really only comes in to effect at quite low altitudes due to the way the simulator displays different levels of detail at receding distances. Which in turn can be influenced by settings and tweaks. For various reasons the performance of the Autogenesis 3D is noticeably better when compared to our Island sceneries. Influenced as all scenery is by just how populated an area is in view at a given time. Sorry Chris...no, but we'll be looking to provide one as the overall project advances. The sceneries are fully compatible with Orbx and also with the existing GenX scenery ( and indeed RevX, which is replaced of course within the ES scenery area but is unchanged outside of the active ES area. ). Unfortunately we have been effected this morning by some kind soul seeking to hack the ES website. I so wish these people would spend their energy doing something ( indeed anything) that's a bit more productive. Hope that answers your questions, and thank you for the overall positive response. :)

MegaSceneryEarth England and Wales
Hi Novation We have the same source data for Scotland it's true, which is still the newest and best quality available for that particular area. After we've processed it all it does look quite "different" compared to GenX Scotland. B) However, the England & Wales source data we have now is all much more recent than the data which used to make GenX E&W.

Anyone with experience of Earth Simulations?
I'd just like to point out for the benefit of others reading this thread...that the supplier in this case was NOT Earth Simulations Ltd. All products being bought directly from ourselves are working correctly, whether they be downloads or disk versions of our sceneries. It sounds like a costly mistake during manufacture for them ( and indeed us too) I'm sorry to learn Richard that the supplier in question was unable to resolve the problem. For info: Isle of Man is covered by GenX ..though is not anywhere near approaching the detail or quality of the ES version of course.

Anyone with experience of Earth Simulations?
Hi Richard The issue and error message you're describing isn't actually one we've encountered. If it were we'd have at least posted a helpdesk article about it and fixed it going forward. Fortunately the problem you appear to be seeing is isolated. I'll reply as best I can here...but you should note that we do not trawl the flightsim forums looking for customers who are unwilling to contact us directly through our support systems. Afterall that's why we have a support system. So...Are you able to run a repair of ESI by inserting the disk and running the file called ESI-Setup.exe that you find in the "Files folder" ? Please try that first and if successful continue with the advice above. If not please ( I insist ) open a support ticket with us so that we work with you to find a solution. Kind regards Darren & Vikki

Anyone with experience of Earth Simulations?
Hi Richard I've just happened across your post here, but the first thing I would say to your good self and to anyone else reading is that it is really a good idea to contact us via our support system if you have an issue with any of our products. First see that you have the latest version of ESI installed. Version 2.4 available on the helpdesk here . If you have an earlier version please uninstall it via add remove programs before installing the updated one. Close ESI 2.4 once it is installed. Then open explorer and navigate to your DVD drive with your Guernsey disk inserted. Look inside the "Files" folder and right click on the file named "Guernsey.esi" . Choose the top option " Install ESI-Pack". ESI will start ready to install and should do so without issue. Kindest regards Darren & Vikki

How to get photoscenery to look there best in P3D v2.0?
We won't know for sure till it's done, but to sure...it's going to be big. VERY big! The scenery is 16x more detailed than the current GenX for England & Wales. So for a rough comparison. GenX volume-1 weighs in around 22GB (at 1.2m per pixel imagery) The same area as 30cm will increase to a whopping 352GB. at least. :excl:

How to get photoscenery to look there best in P3D v2.0?
It will be P3Dv2 compatible, Can't provide an accurate ETA sorry, but the 3D will be available ahead of most of the photo scenery areas ( should you only want the 3D ) The screenshots in the link are all taken in Northwest Scotland, The source data for Scotland is in fact the same as GenX, but we've done a lot of work to improve on it, as I hope you can see from the screenies. Data for England and Wales is all new and is receiving the same treatment as Scotland to bring it to life. 3D will be available by download, but yes, due to the huge sizes involved in producing 30cm photo scenery on this scale it will most likely be a physical product only. Blueray, or SSD perhaps. The final methods have yet to be confirmed. Sadly no...at least not before the main UK has been completed when we'll perhaps be able to look at Eire.
