  1. I think there have been at least 15 updates since launch EA. And I think it's more than just the number that's changed.
  2. 2. FSW - Flight Planning Tutorial
  3. Dovetail has its Christmas break from 21st December to 3rd January 2018. I wish and hope that Milviz's products will be available for FSW.
  4. As a user of Milviz products I hope you can contact the developers here:

    Is VR coming?

Stephen Hood (Dovetail) previously responded, quote: - "I personally love VR and this is something I think we can do great things with in the future. Watch this space"!
  6. I'm in the same dilemma, but I choose to focus on FSW (and Aerofly FS2). For me, I know that FSX / P3D has no future (and will not spend more money on old simulators). If desired, I can still use my FSX:SE/P3D as it is. I look forward to an exciting new year 2018.
  7. I am convinced that FSW will be an important platform for Orbx. But as Ken Hall (a developer who works with Orbx) earlier said on the Dovetail forum:
  8. Yes, I both hope and believe that we can finally get an inovative upgrade. It is highly desirable. Because John Venema's presentation shows limited innovation (FSX / P3D). For me the keywords are: I therefore assume that Orbx does not want to promote FSW too strongly at this stage. So far (without real competition), it will be natural to produce and sell as many products as possible to an old FSX (because it is likely that FSW will be the successor to FSX).
  9. On Steam there is a topic: "Curtiss P-40F Warhawk Feedback"
  10. On Steam, I can read that a P-40 paints from "The Red Tails" is high on the wish list.
  11. Good point. LM chose to walk backwards into the future (and that's one of the reasons I've uninstalled P3D).
  12. I had not expected this so early: Steamspy, Owners data: approx 50 000.
  13. So far .......! rsrandazzo (PMDG), quote: "We are very excited to see Dovetail's work beginning to bear fruit and we look forward to learning more. At PMDG our money is firmly on Dovetail Games for the simming side and Prepar3D for the enterprise side of our business."
  14. Yes you're right, and I want to repeat what I edited in in my previous post:
  15. I think we should take Orbx's statements with "a pinch of salt". As John Venema has pointed out, the situation may change. The last thing I've seen is pronounced, is that product for FSW will be sold through Steam only. And that we have to buy their products for FSW at regular prices - even though we have already bought the same products for FSX / P3D (no discount). The reason given by John Venema is that prices on Steam are relatively favorable and that Steam has sales with significantly reduced prices. My interpretation should also be taken with "a pinch of salt". The point is that the statements so far are unclear (and perhaps misleading). Yes, a lot of strange analysis among the "hard core" folks. EDIT : I realize that you have absolutely right, ca_metal - so far. Ed Correia (Orbx) said this week, quote: "Any product that is redeveloped for FSW will be sold separately. It will not be a free" upgrade ". It will be similar to what we do for Aerofly FS2 versions - at a discount to existing customers of that product. " I expect that this is Orbx's official policy - so far.
  16. Nice to hear from the developers. Hope this communication will continue into the sunset.... http://steamcommunity.com/games/389280/announcements/detail/1453963587657300349
  17. I would like to emphasize that my example applies to the core sim and not addons that normally will not be part of the core sim (PMDG, etc.).
  18. I record some concern about DLC costs. Again to make an example easy, we can imagine that MSFS costs $50. Flight Simulator 96 = $50 Flight Simulator 98 = $50 Flight Simulator 2000 = $50 Flight Simulator 2002 = $50 Flight Simulator 2004 = $50 Flight Simulator X = $50 ---------------------------------------- Over a period of 10 years (1996 - 2006) = $300 FSX over a period of 10 years (2007 - 2017) = $0 I have "saved" $300 due to lack of further development from MS. In the same period, I have chosen to use my "saved money" to pay 3rd party developers for an upgraded simulator (FTX Global BASE Pack, FTX Global VECTOR, DX10 Scenery Fixer, etc.). For comparison, following the development of P3D is quite expensive at the moment.
  19. Let us imagine that Dovetail planning to make a really decent flight planner. For practical reasons, they must postpone this until more important work has been completed. Meanwhile, they release their SDK for FSW. What happens if a 3rd party developer converts their "FSX Flight Planner" for FSW, and put it up for sale before Dovetail has successfully developed their own solution as part of their core sim? Should Dovetail prohibit 3rd party developers to sell their product (DLC)? Or maybe give a two-year quarantine? If Dovetail does not prevent sales from 3rd party developers, many people will scream and complain that this product (DLC) should be part of the core sim. What advice would you like to give to Dovetail? Does not the customer have a responsibility to checking the product he/she buys?
  20. Agree. I still do not understand all the complaints about DLC we do not need to buy. Some people are afraid that FSW has already been fully developed - despite Dovetail has repeatedly refuted this, quote:
  21. Earlier in this thread I asked a question: "What should be included in the core sim?" I discovered a similar question on Steam forum, where a user named Hartman suggests the following, quote: I can give my support to these good suggestions.
  22. Important and good point. Dovetail has previously done a thorough analysis, and concluded that a large number of "users" quickly gave up the flight simulator attempt. The learning curve became too steep. I started with subLOGIC Flight Simulator II for Commodore 64, and has therefore gained some experience over time. Despite that, I am very pleased with FSW's "cold & dark" function. Much more fun to learn a new aircraft, compared to reading pdf files. Such small features are especially good for beginners.
  23. Good post, mattyshigh, but: This is what I do not understand. Is it different with, for example, P3D? Do you think the P3D is a fantastic simulator right "out of the box"? Without addons (DLC)? Dovetail has repeatedly explained what their strategy is. Among other things, that 3rd party developers will be the lifeblood of FSW. And 3rd party developers mean DLC. It will create innovation and we will see many new ideas, including Dovetail, never could have predicted. Personally I want a large amount of DLC to choose from (freeware and payware). The important thing is that we have an active developer (Dovetail) who says they will help 3rd party developers to "plug" innovative ideas into the core sim (that 3rd party developers do not need to "hack" into the core sim, ref. FSX ). It has already happened in their collaboration with 3rd party developers. The fundamental question then becomes: What should be included in the core sim?
  24. This is interesting. I really want to hear your ideas about what wishes you have for FSW. What specific news you think may bring FSW forward compared to existing flight simulators.
