  1. Yes there are a few advantages of going with the Q for us right now. The single engine service ceiling is a lot higher. I dont think we would even be able to do a couple routes in the mountains with the ATR. The back orders for the ATR72-600 is a lot longer than the dash so we can get a hold of the Qs quicker. Obiously speed being another. HOPEFULLY support would be better since DHC is just down the street. There are a few others. Its downfall is price. They are about 5-6 million more than the ATR. Hopefully we can get a good deal since the Q orders are quite slow right now,.JackColwill
  2. Hey Ricky. Pretty much. Its between the ATR and Q400. We are 99% sure it will be the Q.JackColwill
  3. Hey Ron. Whatcha got on our mind? ........and yes, we are getting Q400s lolJackColwill
  4. Hey all. Merry christmas.....for yesterday. Glad to see everyone was treated well from santa. Seems like a bunch of you bought the DCS A10. If you ever wanna hook up and fly let me know. Yes, the reading is endless. I gotta get back into it. Got an email fro dcs the other day explaining their future. Sounds like they have no intentions of slowing. A new plane indevelopment, implementing a Ground Commander option where you can controlthe ground troops, etc and be that JTACS thing, also making a Flaming Cliffs 3. As for those that got the Bose Headset..........###### on you! Lol. Just kidding. I am jealous. Nice headset. FOR those that would like a Bose headset, there is a cheaper alternative that a guy i was flying with the other day that was awesome. He took one of those normal bose active noise cancelling headsets ( about 300 bux here in Canada) and there is this company that specifically makes a microphone boom for that headset. I tried it and it was sweet. Now pop the mic boom off and use the headset as a normal pair of earphones. Was awesome. Total price was 500-600. About half the price of an A20 but much the same thing.Well happy new year and i hope a good one to everyone! Take care!JackColwill
  5. Try not to confuse something so simple. The fmc doesnt really matter. If it was crapped out you can still do derated takeoffs, etc, just like in the old 200's. Thats what the N1 Dial is for above the engine DUJackColwill
  6. Yes CLB or CLB 1 or CLB 2. JackColwill
  7. Hey Doruk and Andrew. Doruk, I read your explanation of LVL CHG and it came across to me differently than what you were probably trying to explain. (It could be the way I read it though!).So what Doruk says about speed is correct. LVL CHG will hold the set airspeed with reference to what is set on the speed in the MCP. Now if you are decending the power will be right back to idle and if you are climbing it will be at full power. LVL CHG doesn't care about vertical speed. Only IAS. It will hold this IAS (by changing the pitch of the aircraft AND thats all it uses to hold airspeed) until it reaches the altitude set in the MCP. And like I said, if you are climbing to the altitude set in the mcp, it will use full power. If you are descending it will use idle power. Its that simple! LVL CHG doesnt care about anything in the FMC. Hope this help!JackColwill
  8. The mad dog or any other currently out there dont share properly. Try being the slave computer and its easy to see why. Every so often it has to update its position with the master computer and you get a stutter and relocation.
  9. Would feel a bit dumb if the 738 got caught in the 744's wake.
  10. Yeah we dont have any HUDs in our 600s.
  11. I'd say just leave it the way it is. You could spend a lot of time adding these type of things. Waste of valuable time imho.
  12. Not sure where Chock got his info from but we have 22,000lb thrust cfms on our 600s. And yes you can see those climb rates at times. You should see them when at sea level, light load, and max thrust take off though.
  13. Hey guys. Ryan meessaged me last night about this. Sorry, back when this was being discussed there might have been some miscommunication, or misunderstanding, between Ryan and myself. Thats what i dislike about texting. Its easy to do. So yes, the FD should command whatever is set in the MCP window even if the mode is still in TOGA. Initially it will be V2+20 until you manually change it.
  14. You dont perhaps wear coke bottle lenses do you?
  15. Is this better? As for backing up my statement, I own the 737PIC, Embraers (all of them), Airbus, etc. At best their products are marginal. And their attempt at the Airbus Evolution from everything I have read was a slap int he face to people who paid for it.
  16. And probably wont be the only thing knowing them. garbage
  17. I also agree and dont agree with this statement too. I think everyone should "donate" time to the hobby they enjoy BUT on the other end of tbe spectrum with your comment.......everyone thinks they DESERVE everything for free. You are making it sound like this is OK. i do feel that some people out there are opportunists and think they can make a dollar on everything they do. I dont agree with this but I do agree with Coma in that there is nothing wrong with charging for value. But its up to each individual to know what is valuable to them. For Coma. I do like the idea of what you are doing but here is my question. I fly only online and would like to perhaps use your network. BUT I fly the NG for a living and I dont think I will be coming home from flying a real aircraft and then have to pay to fly online. I like flying online but not that much. Do you have any solutions for people such as myself?
  18. I do and don't agree with ya there Johan. I have given lots of my time in different manners for the flight sim community. But in order for things to improve on vatsim I think some of these devs should be compensated in some manner. Referring to SB, i wouldnt expect Joel to continuously put out new pilot clients. He's done enough as it is. Everytime i turn on my computer I open servinfo to check whos online. Before SB3 there was a continuous ~ 400 pilots logged on. After his SB3 was released, those stats jumped to ~ 700-800 (more on a flyin). His software at the time changed vatsim drastically. But really what is wrong with givingthe guy 5-10 bucks to update to SB5. 5-10 bucks for software you are going to use for 3-5 years? Best deal ever! It might give him to motivation to do it.
  19. In order for Vatsim to grow they need to get rid of this crappy "only freeware/no donation" policy. Everyone here agrees SB3/4 is way out of date. It took Joel a long time to get this software to us and in te end he gets what? Nothing. Motivation is quickly diminished when there is no light at the end of the tunnel. He took away how many hours from his family to get nothing for it. I can see why he sn't doing anything with it. He deserves something for it. Jeez even 5 bucks from each of us would have possibly given him motivation to continue development. At least he could have taken his family on a nice vacation for all the time he spent. Vatsim really needs to get over themselves and start realizing without change you sooner or later disolve because someone else will step up to the plate and do a better job. Honestly I dont think the BOG cares much about the future of Vatsim. From what I understand and have been tod by programmers tat the architecture of Vatsim is 1990's and is ancient.
  20. VATSIM wont grow any larger than it is without policy changes and thats a hard fact.
  21. To give you an idea of how one pound of thrust equates tp HP is at 325 kts one pound of thrust equals one horsepower. As you decelerate the HP decreases on a linear scale.
  22. All I can say is I honestly never seen that is in the real thing.
  23. I think on the newer models they do. On our olders models we dony have them and on our new ones we do. But really, is it going to make THAT much difference? If PMDG had to put EVERY option in the CDU that is available there would be a few hundred pages. I would say leave this the way it is.
