VATSIM hacked by Anonymous?
Ridiculous to put it lightly ... I can't even comprehend why VATSIM would be targeted by anyone as a network to compromise. It's plain sick.

VATSIM hacked by Anonymous?
I'm not quite sure what is going on or who is doing what with the VATSIM network and its forums, but something has definitely happened. Right now the forums look like this - http://forums.vatsim.net/ and a link sends you to a Twitter account claiming responsibility ... https://twitter.com/Anon_Juke and other VATSIM users on Twitter have uploaded some strange screenshots ... https://twitter.com/Hozo22/status/357676859481272320/photo/1 Anyone know what's going on?

It's in the shop
... going for $165,000,000.00! I think it's close now. I remember with the NGX it was only a few weeks till release once the product appeared on the ecommerce page. http://www.precisionmanuals.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=99&idcategory=15

DX10 Flashing Runways - Experimental Shader
Reporting back after testing some AA settings with an ATI 6700 series card and CCC... I added the MultiSamplesPerPixel=8 line under the graphics section of the fsx.cfg and then went to CCC. As stated in your blog post, I set the AA mode to "Enhance application settings." I left everything else as CCC default except for the AA mode slider. I moved it to super-sample AA and pressed apply. Upon loading up FSX and then a flight. Unfortunately I found my AA settings to be the same as they looked before. I used the VC of the RA Lancair Legacy as a control test and nothing looked different. The bottom switches' text is unreadable due to AA, as well as some of the gauges. The RXP GNS 530 is completely unreadable in the VC as well unless I zoom in or pop up the 2D. Am I doing something wrong? I'd like to continue trying to get the ATI AA to work in DX10 FSX before falling back to DX9. Thanks! Here is a picture of my settings for reference:

DX10 Flashing Runways - Experimental Shader
Thanks for the heads up. I saw your post on your site just now and will have a go at experimenting a little with your settings tomorrow. Thanks for the explanation Paul! I like the notion that DX10 FSX should be treated like a new sim. I'm going to experiment a little with Steve's settings and research tomorrow and will report back. Feel free to share any of your findings too! By the way, I'm running on an ATI Radeon HD 6700 Series 1GB card.

Uber Happy! and a vote for contributor of the year!
Mr. Howell, Your shot looks fantastic and I am setting up the fix as I type, but I am wondering if you got external AA to work and how? By just flipping the DX10 switch on, the in game AA looks better but it could still be refined by some more antialiasing. Your shot looks really sharp.

A2A Simulations announced Accu-Sim Cessna 172 and Piper Cherokee
GA is really coming into its own now with fantastic offering from RealAir and A2A now (not to mention Carenado). I'm excited! The Starfighter looked like a beast. Can't wait to fly that and the F-4.

'Pause' AirHauler?
I'd really suggest that you get it. Just today I flew to a bunch of interesting strips all over PNW. My base is at KHQM. I started out with the "hard" difficulty. I sold the Cessna 172 that came with it, and bought my Lancair. Unfortunately this caused me to go into debt. But after flying about eight jobs, I'm in the green. I flew into a really tight grass strip under the Seattle class B and the Paine Field class C. It was really fun managing the airspace and landing at a one-way-in-one-way-out strip. I also flew to Sequiam Valley just north of the Olympic mountains. It was a lot of fun dodging peaks using the RXP 530. It's taking me all over PNW to interesting strips. I think I'll make my way up to Canada soon for some jobs or maybe buy a C185 for bush strips. It's a great discovery tool for fun airfields.

Plan-G > Reality XP GNS 530?
May I suggest using Skyvector charts? http://skyvector.com/ Just load up a sectional and right-click anywhere and you have the LatLong coordinates to any point in the same format that the 530 uses - DMS.

'Pause' AirHauler?
I bought AirHauler at a local store a few days ago. The full product works absolutely wonderfully for me. It even prompted me to check JustFlight's support site to download the latest SP. I don't think you'll have a problem with the full version.

Plan-G > Reality XP GNS 530?
I'm not sure if the integration that you described above is possible as I've never tried it (I program all my flights into the RXP GNS 530 itself), but I did purchase the RXP GNS 530 for the Legacy and I find it outstanding compared to the default FSX GPS. I played with a real 530 at Oshkosh last week and there were almost no differences in function from the real thing compared to the RXP 530. I would get the 530 regardless. One thing to note though is that the RXP GNS 530 has some maps that can be compared to PlanG. There is a map page that shows roads and points of interest alongside the aviation data. For example, I'm flying in PNW now and I can see that I'm right above US Highway 101 just west Hood Canal and just south of Whidbey and Proctection Island. On this same map it shows the Seattle Class B to the east as well. There is also a terrain page (similar to the NGX's terrain display). I can dodge through valleys and avoid high peaks in the Olympic mountains. I'm not sure how to create points purely off of just seeing a location, but these maps provide info comparable to PlanG, just not as detailed. If you want to make your own airport/waypoint points, that can be easily done too. Just use Lat/Long coordinates or provide a VOR radial(s) and DME info and it will create it. Hopefully someone else will answer your question about PlanG-RXP integration, but I think you should get the RXP 530 regardless. It really transformed my flights in the Legacy from everything-is-real-except-for-the-GPS to a real-airplane feeling in the sim.

'Pause' AirHauler?
One thing to note is that you can hire AI pilots. You can accept jobs for them and schedule their days. Doing this you can bring in money even when you can't fly! You can still fly yourself, but when you have the AI guys hustling around doing jobs, the income comes in pretty quickly.

Checking in from the real airplane ;)
I wonder how accurate services such as Flightradar24 are compared to real time. Apparently they use live ADS-B info. http://www.flightradar24.com/ EDIT: oops, looks like Athena had the same idea as me :P

Checking in from the real airplane ;)
I've noticed Flightaware lists all active and past Southwest flights as flown by -300's. It must be an error on their end.

One last Legacy topic...
RealAir truly did a fantastic job. I was just up at Oshkosh for Airventure 2012 and saw around ten Legacy's sporting about. The external model looks spot on ... just like the real things on the flight line at OSH. Most of them have glass cockpits now, but a few still had the steam gauges. I took a bunch of pics of them. I'll post 'em up in this thread soon.

One last Legacy topic...
I too bought the Legacy late (a week ago about). It really does provide that sense of just being there, something that you don't find too often. I used to just jet around the skies in the NGX since it provided that feel too, but since getting the Lancair, I haven't touched the 737. To further the experience, I bought the RXP GNS 530 as well. It complements the Legacy really well. After getting a few flights under my belt, I logged into VATSIM and flew the Fisk Arrival into Oshkosh during the week-long currently-running VatVenture event. It was one of those flights that reminds me why we fly the sim. It is now my favorite aircraft. About the elevator trim, I'm almost positive that it is controlled via buttons on the joystick. I have it mapped through FSUIPC and it works great. I keep the realism setting as they are suggested in the manual and find that it flies really, really well.
