  1. I had a problem with flickering at airports, which was solved when I used Nvidia Inspector to increase the anti-aliasing.
  2. With FSX DX9 I got an annoying stutter almost every time I looked out the plane's side window with TrackIR. When I switched to DX10 it was much improved, but still with occasional stutters. I tried this change to the TrackIR path ("target") and it now seems that the stutters are virtually eliminated. Thanks! (I had a little trouble at first because when I typed the path text (instead of copying and pasting) I missed a couple of the spaces in the text - there are 4).
  3. Instead of flying the FBO's plane, it's better to fly the one at home, where the fuel is free.
  4. When you say to enable Run TrackIR High Priority in the Server Configuration dialog, is this a setting in the TrackIR system settings?
  5. I've got FSX running with DX10 and Steve's DX10 Fixer. It's smooth, has cockpit shadows with most planes, has great water effects, and I have many addons, some of which don't work with P3D. FSX is now extremely stable, with computer crashes being very rare events (unfortunately, crashes of the flying kind are more frequent). So I have no incentive to switch to P3D. If I were starting out fresh, I'm not sure what I'd do.
  6. I sometimes get some jerkiness when I look about with TIR. It mainly happens when the computer is struggling a little, with low framerates. I got much smoother TIR action when I switched from FSX DX9 to DX10.
  7. Why FSX with Steve's DX10 Fixer instead of P3D? FSX/DX10 is now running very smoothly for me, with great effects like vc shadows and fantastic water, and it never crashes - incredibly stable. I don't see how P3D offers much more, and I have a lot of planes and photoscenery that won't work with P3D.
  8. Regarding the Lionheart planes, Steve's FSX DX10 Fixer, and VC shadows... My experience was that the Lionheart planes such as the Pacer series could not be adapted to VC shadows using the DX10 Fixer. But now Steve has announced a new discovery concerning VC shadows. This might allow VC shadows with the Lionheart planes in FSX, I don't know. Note: The Lionheart Piper Pacers have extremely nice VCs, so I'm quite happy with them whether or not they have shadows.
  9. On takeoff, don't let the tail come up too soon, or you'll lose the tailwheel steering before the rudder is effective. http://youtu.be/C6uraNt05XA
  10. I have some of the other Lionheart planes such as the Pacer series and they work fine with DX10, except for no vc shadows capability. Hopefully that's the only issue with the Lear and DX10.
  11. Are you running DX9 or DX10. I was getting annoying stutters when I would change my view with TrackIR. The stutters went away when I switched to DX10 (with Steve's DX10 Fixer). i3770k @4.3, GTX670.
  12. Pilots of modern airliners fly the planes mainly by flipping switches and turning knobs that control the autopilot. Even when they fly the plane manually, their control inputs often go through, and can be modified by, computers. If I were in an airliner where both pilots were disabled, I'd try to contact ATC on the radio, explain the emergency, and request that they put me in communication with an airline pilot. I'd ask the pilot which knobs to turn to get the plane in the vicinity of a real long runway, and then I'd ask how to turn on the Autoland feature.
  13. A serious, competent C172 sim flyer has, technically, the ability to land a real C172 (with a decent simulator setup, including rudder pedals, etc). The problem is that in real life the sim flyer is likely to be overwhelmed by the sudden addition of new sensations like g forces, different control pressures and sensitivities, not to mention the shocking realization that the situation is actually real rather than just sitting at a desk. An accomplished sim flyer with the disposition of a test pilot, someone who can remain focused and not get rattled, could pull it off. Actually, this isn't a theoretical discussion at all. It's already been done. An accomplished C172 sim pilot arranged to takeoff and land a C172 - with an instructor sitting at his side! It wasn't pretty, but he did it. The sim pilot took off and landed the C172 with no prior training except for his experience with the simulator.
  14. I have a fairly high-end computer with a cpu overclocked to 4.3 GHz, but I was still getting stutters whenever I changed my view with TrackIR. In other words, whenever I looked out the side window. This stuttering problem ended when I switched to DX10.
  15. Steve, Thanks for your fantastic product that has transformed FSX! I hope that you'll reintroduce the DX10 fixer back onto the market soon, maybe with a requirement that the purchaser check a box which acknowledges that the purchaser understands the following: - The product cannot fix all of the problems associated with FSX DX10. - The product does not necessarily cause an increase in framerates. - The product is offered by a small company with limited capability for technical assistance. The primary source for technical assistance should be the online forums that specialize in FSX DX10 and the DX10 fixer. Thanks again!
  16. A RealAir Citabria updated with the sounds, vibrations and effects like with the RealAir Legacy would be awesome.
  17. I have the RealAir Citabria/Scout/Decathlon package and it's great. The flight dynamics are so good, I don't think any major changes would be necessary for a version 2...maybe less down elevator required for stall recovery if that's possible with more modern programming techniques. I'd like to see an updated interior with more wear-and-tear, an updated pilot, and a stall warning that doesn't beep during the takeoff roll (unless the real plane does that - does the real plane's stall warning blare during takeoff roll?). My wallet is ready.
  18. I've tried some flying in formation with AI aircraft. It can be rather challenging, but fun. It's imporant to use a faster plane, or the AI plane will end up leaving you behind. On one occasion I flew in formation with an AI plane (C172) from takeoff for about half an hour. It flew all over the place, and ended up landing at another airport. On another occasion, the AI plane took off and promptly flew right into the side of a mountain.
  19. I had exactly the same problem with grass at the Orbx Israel's Farm and Concrete airports, using the Orbx 131215 libraries. Yesterday I installed the Orbx 140201 libraries and the problem is solved.
  20. Paul, I went to the toolbox and clicked on Aircraft and then clicked on "Turn on VC Shadows", but it isn't clear to me what to do next. Where do we find the "interior" that we're supposed to choose. Could you please describe what we do once we get to the Turn on VC Shadows part. Thanks, Jim
  21. I don't know how to overclock either! :( I bought a Jetlines system that was already overclocked. But the 'k' in i7-4770k means that your cpu is designed to be overclocked. It should be fairly straight-forward, although you might have to install an upgraded cooler in order to ensure that the cpu doesn't overheat. There's lots of info. about this from Google searches and forums. In the meantime, try getting your framerates higher by reducing your FSX settings for frame-hogs like scenery autogen and see if this smooths out your panning. I notice that you list the PMDG 777 and 737 as the aircraft that you fly. Those are demanding aircraft for the computer. Overclocking should definitely help.
  22. I'm running a i7-3770k overclocked at 4.3 GHZ, with a GTX670 graphics card. I almost always get smooth running of scenery, but sometimes I get a little stuttering with virtual-cockpit panning (TrackIR or with the tophat). I think that panning puts a huge load on the pc. I've had best results with the framerate set at unlimited. In my experience, the panning is noticeably smoother with DX10 than with DX9. If your i-4770k is running at the stock rate of 3.5 GHz, I'd overclock it. My experience is that higher frame rates leads to smoother panning. The GTX 770 is a good graphics card, but I've read that SLI doesn't work in FSX.
  23. I don't have P3D so I'm not sure what the "great shadows" are that people are talking about with P3D. Is it the cockpit shadows? If so, I'm getting great cockpit shadows with FSX DX10 and Steve's Fixer. For example, I'm getthing great (distinct and not jagged) cockpit shadows with the default C172.
  24. Accufeel is more than just a soundset for FSX. For example, Accufeel (version 2) has sliders for adjusting tire side friction on the runway and for turbulence effects.
  25. Extremely nice shots, but I can't quite see the naked lady - she must be lying down on the back seat. Please provide some shots from a higher angle.
