L-39, Anyone Still Fly It?
Oh yes. Took the Czech low vis scheme for a spin out of Fairford prior to RIAT. Good fun if you remember the 90% N2 and airbrake landing tekkers! Take off holding in ground effect is fun too. Amazing what the Breitling guys can do with it. Beautiful model with a unique feel. Shame we haven't seen more (mig 29) from lotussim

Cheers Michele. One for SP1 I guess then :-)

Chart/Worktable lights
Fellow T7 Drivers, Was doing a quick lighting test the other day (FSX set to dusk) and I noticed that I couldn't see any illumination from the Chart/Worktable lights? I don't think it was a master brightness issue as the Map light was illuminating the CA and FO seats respectively as expected. I was expecting the Chart light to illuminate the little clip board on the window sill ala the NGX? Has anyone else seen this? Am I overlooking something? Cheers

Master caution light
Cheers Alex, so I'm clear, that to do a manual C&D and save the Panel State or the Flight???

Master caution light
Same here. Whilst on the ramp. Loaded C&d. Powered up the ac on jetway dual plugs. Started apu. Pushed back. Started engines (during one of the starts eng 1 maybe) heard the warble tone. Caution light illuminated. Unable to clear annuciator and nothing immediately obvious amiss on overhead or synoptics. She still flew like a dream though lol Only had time for one flight last night so I'll raise a ticket if it happens again.. Tcas off (expected) and nothing on recall

Opinion on high performance single engine IFR prop FSX
Buzz, Bought both recently, both great fun... Civilian Mustang takes some mastering but it's incredibly satisfying when you get it right and the Accusim add on is brilliant, really brings the aircraft and the feeling of ownership to life, treat it mean and things will fail. There's some of this included with the Legacy which I think is a much easier bird to jump in and fly off in... So I guess you might as well toss a coin...I don't think you can go wrong with either as fast GA tourers...Mustang has a huge 1500 mile range if you need it, although the Legacy says 1150 so not much in it there either.. Just to throw in have you looked at ORBX's Lancair IV-P? If not check it out, might make it a 3 horse race! I have that as well and it's great, managing cockpit temps and pressurisation is involving too and lets you cruise comfortably over most weather. I think the Legacy is designed to optimal cruise at 8000ft although the service ceiling is 18000 so not sure if that will factor into your decision? Guess it depends on where you do most of your flying i.e. over big mountains I think after flying them all though, if I could only get one, it would be the Mustang with Accusim. The learning curve, penalties for not operating correctly and systems fidelity make it a winner for me and something that will hold the attention. Just make sure you're smooth on the throttle and hot on your rudder control for takeoffs! Good times for people looking for strong, cross country IFR tourers in FSX (Get all 3 if you can!!)

Secret Project #1: This one is a classic!
Looks great....I know it's a DC-4 that Buffalo Airways use in Ice Pilots but this is going to be close enough for some "challenging" re-enactments :( . Definitely one that would benefit from the visual icing feature from the JS41?

I bet it smells good inside..
Great vid, we need more high def stuff like that :( I noticed that the engine start switches were still on CONT even at about 29k ft?? I always turn mine off as part of the after take off flows, however, revisiting the checklists I can't find anything to say that you should? (Apart from in the tutorial, which I think is where I got if from originally) Are there any implications with leaving them at CONT for a whole flight? I know they should be at CONT for TO and Landing (and certain high precipitation situations?). Did the pilots here forget to switch them off or is it normal to leave them on so long?? (about 7:15 in the vid) and then switched off at cruise alt (about 8:15 in the vid)Cheers

Most Dangerous NGX Approaches and Departures
@ Matt and Aaron, the list is from the FAA IPH as to what they consider a sample of "SPECIAL AIRPORT QUALIFICATION", if you check out the booklet you'll see it in context, wasn't meant to be an exhaustive list :( Just to add to the others posted here with the added realism that obviously the FAA deem them tricky enough to single them out

Most Dangerous NGX Approaches and Departures
From the IPH (Instrument Procedures Handbook - 4-26 ) available from the FAA's website, here..Which is a brilliant read in general for those with questions, including NGX favourites like ILS/RNAV/RNP/STARs etc etc...http://www.faa.gov/l...dures_handbook/SPECIAL AIRPORTS & COMMENTSKodiak, AK Airport is surrounded by mountainous terrain. Any go-around beyond ILS or GCA MAP will not provide obstruction clearance.Petersburg, AK Mountainous terrain in immediate vicinity of airport, all quadrants.Cape Newenham AFS, AK Runway located on mountain slope with high gradient factor; nonstandard instrument approach.Washington, DC (National) Special arrival/departure procedures.Shenandoah Valley,VA Mountainous terrain. (Stanton-Waynesboro-Harrisonburg)Aspen, CO High terrain; special procedures.Gunnison, CO VOR only; uncontrolled; numerous obstructions in airport area; complex departure procedures.Missoula, MT Mountainous terrain; special procedures.Jackson Hole, WY Mountainous terrain; all quadrants; complex departure procedures.Hailey, ID (Friedman Memorial) Mountainous terrain; special arrival/departure procedures.Hayden,Yampa Valley, CO Mountainous terrain; no control tower; special engine-out procedures for certain large airplanes.Lihue, Kauai, HI High terrain; mountainous to 2,300 feet within 3 miles of the localizer.Ontario, CA Mountainous terrain and extremely limited visibility in haze conditions.I'd definitely add LOWI, PAKT as well as good fun (for sadists ) Missoula to Jackson Hole is cool, especially if you have ORBX CRM/NRM and of course the NGX 600....

Some thoughts on Flight...
Fascinating, insightful post Robert, thanks for sharing your view. Sure there will be loads of nodding going on as people read this. I, like many simulator fans I suspect, had the head telling us your console analogy would be true and heart telling us that it would be the next gen platform that we would all love to see you grow an already superb product set onto (along with the other shining stars of the hobby you mention). Disappointed but not surprised....

McPhat has released the first NGX UHDT paint!
Devil's in the details (14x zoom)...Looks really good I think, bare metal paint is a good choice too as it helps with the rivet counting :( think they are all there :( (JPEG Image so not as sharp as it could be, although still pretty damn good I reckon)

McPhat has released the first NGX UHDT paint!
Just had a new key sent by Terrence at McPhat and it's OK now, just post on their forum if you have issues and they'll sort :(

Track IR 5 Folks....
Diego,I think like most on here who use it, you'll love it once you get used to it...I'm using the profile that Nick from AoA kindly posted (link below) on here a while ago along with his ENB settings from the original intro vids he did....It's perfect with the NGX/JS41 and other super high detail VCs, really adds to the immersion and makes practicing circuits a lot easier..http://forum.avsim.n...ile-for-the-ngx

Cannot find any STARs for NZQN
Ron,Cheers, this is really helpful, with the approach of the ORBX NZ scenery I'd asked a similar question as the OP, checked out Navigraph and was informed that if their supplier doesn't send them the relevant data then it's not included in their AIRAC cycles...Not a massive help if you want to do some serious fun approaches in what's guaranteed to be amazing scenery. No one else on the Navigraph forums mentioned this, even though I'd asked if anyone clever in the FSX world had worked around it, so thanks!

OLM7 arrival KSEA CTD with ORBX
You're welcome mate. There's loads of good tips over there on the ORBX forums (like on here for NGX). Required reading if you want to save yourself time and strife and get the most out of their stuff.

OLM7 arrival KSEA CTD with ORBX
I was getting a consistent g3d.dll crash on finals at Renton. Disabled Vashon airstrip scenery as recommended on the ORBX forums by one of their beta testers and its been fine since...

No more crashes for me after exit flight
Gents,Same here, really like enb but had to remove due to the black screen issues you mentioned. Be interesting to see if anyone comes up with an idea...I'm also using fps limiter 0.2 so not sure if it's the two in combination? Might try running without the limiter but with enb....

Hotfix - Unusual occurrences
Richard,This happened to me last night and tonight. CDU was unresponsive to key presses and both capt and fo side displays froze. Also gear handle was stuck in up position and throttle levers wouldn't move either. Last night just capts side displays froze and cycling views in the vc pressing a seemed to clear it (I actually thought it might have been my first service based failure lol) gonna put some miles on her tomorrow and see how it goes. I'll report back if I see anything similar.
