I have never played with a desktop simulator that acts like the real thing. But then I've never been in a simulator that flies like the real thing either. As a point of reference, here is a real type rated pilot reviewing a $15,000,000+ simulator for the 787. Even on a simulator this expensive he has to remind the readers that his view on how the aircraft handles is based on what the simulator says and not the real thing. I know a lot of you guys got into flight simming because you want to fantasize about flying big airliners. However you have to understand that a lot of airline pilots who came from the general aviation community will have fond memories of flying Cessnas and Pipers to small airfields. Going inside the FBO's to use the bathrooms and stock up on potato chips and coke and just chat with the locals before flying back to the home airport was always fun for me. Going to a small out of the way airport that's not too busy so they can let their student's solo for the first time or just practice touch and go's is a very familiar scenario for pilots who racked up time as a CFI.Small, general aviation airports have a special place for a lot of pilots weather they moved on to airliners, or corporate, or just a member of a flying club. I love ORBX scenery, and I for one hope that this thing works out.

History. Unless PMDG has totally dropped the ball on this one I'm willing to bet that it's going be better than the iFly. But then again I'm the guy who sold my Apple stocks when I saw Steve Jobs introduce the ipod on TV, so fortune telling is not my forte. But just like every sucker in this forum I own every freaking add-on you can possibly think of including the iFly. It's a great add-on that I would recommend to anyone. Were you under the impression that I was bashing them? OK you win, iFly customers are hard core simmers. Happy?

This, my friends, is the problem for PMDG. There is no question that the NGX will be better than the IFly and it will definitely receive plenty of praises and awards. They will capture the hearts and money of all the hard core simmers. Unfortunately, the vast majority of simmers are not hard core and will find that the IFly version is plenty good enough for them. IFly has nothing to lose but everything to gain.

Jack_C,Why did you remove your "PMDG tech team" banner? Just curious.

Fly it around ORBX PNW/KORS scenery and you will find yourself in flight sim nirvana.(warning) you will have to "learn" how fly this thing. And I don't mean pressing buttons.

I think this is where the real value of this add on comes in. 20 years ago I paid over $200 on King VHS video tapes and those things helped save me a lot of money.

Will I hope Dave walks away with a valuable lesson from all this. That is, putting in all the time and effort to create something for FSX will gain you absolutely nothing. In fact people will even start hating you.

JBZ,I enjoyed your videos and it showed me what I needed to know about the product. In the age of Youtube, I think most people are smart enough to figure out which videos are made professionally and which are made by enthusiast. A lot of my sailing buddies here in SoCal are "in the business" and I think they would have nothing but encouraging words to say to you. Keep em coming.

Unfortunately you've just reinforced what someone in this thread has said because when a thread ends up "popping" other developers, you don't lock it. ie..Areane, Captain Sim, and lately FSDT comes to mind. This is just my personal observation. I don't have a horse in this race.

Start with your aircraft parked at any airport. Pause it. Move the aircraft to anywhere in the world using the latitude and longitude at an altitude of 74~75 ft.Using aicarriers, place the Nimitz at your location. Un-pause.Caution: If you wheels are not touching the Carrier when you un-pause, your aircraft will go flying off into the sunset like a runaway horse! ha ha ha. This is how I do it with my VRS F-18 but your results may vary.

You can try emailing them with your question. Give them at least a month to answer your question. If you don't hear from them by then try emailing them again. I'd like to give their support email address but I believe it's top secret. You will need to go into their forums and ask those guys there.

You should take your question to the Ariane support forums, they should have an answer for you there. VRS F-18I even prefer it over the DCS A-10 simply because I am so bored with flying over the Caucuses. .

As a new AVSIMer I just wanted to say that I like the new site. When I fist stumbled into AVSIM about a year ago the first thought on my mind was "Who the heck was running this thing?" I know 12 year olds who can build better websites than this. I can imagine the old veterans hating it because it's a shock to their senses but I think AVSIM need to move on and get with the times. With MS Flight coming out you might have new visitors stopping by. You want to make a good impression don't you?

FYI for those of you simmers with a gambling problem, Aerosoft's Las Vegas is out. I have FSDT's KLAS and OZx's Grand Canyon and they all seem to play well together.Happy Holidays!

It happens to me with the Ariane 737 and only the Ariene. If you look carefully at their "support" forums, you'll see that others are experiencing it as well. I think I saw a question in there about it from a year ago and was never answered. I'm new at this simming thing and Ariane was the first add-on I bought. That experience left a bad taste in my mouth. It wasn't until I started buying the other developer's products that I started having respect for add-on makers. Listen, I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't really care. I'm just sayin that this was my experience.
