From the C:\Prepar3D folder there are number of files starting with D3D. I took the similar named files from C:\Windows\System32 and replaced them (i.e. newer versions of the files) ... maybe placebo but seems to have helped me I can no longer remember where I found the suggestion to do this though...

AMD 6700 XT ... Tried those before. I had more luck copying some of newer versions of DLLs into the Prepar3D folder. I tend not to have these issues with the PMDG birds.

Why is this topic no longer pinned? 😁 I must say the suggestions didn't really work for me, I was getting a lot of crashes with the iFly MAX which was unfortunate.

The True Earth photo scenery is extremely red. There was an ORBX forum post where they acknowledged and then basically said "meh". For NorCal there were complains about them being lazy on bridges when they had higher quality ones in the past. It also needs around 150 GB to install (~75 for the installer and the 75 for the result) which then you can delete the installer. For these reasons I was considering the more "programmatic" regions.

Thanks for all the input ... maybe i'll wait for a bigger sale. I don't think I'll have the time to do my own ortho. I have the seen the thread about Vector before but again seems like the upgrades in P3D V5 around that data negates the need for that in NA. I am intrigued a bit by Rogen's V4 setup but it seems odd to shell another $60 on an old version of P3D at this point in time.

I had a ton of fun with FSX PNW back in the day. Are the "classic" Orbx regions still worth it for P3D V5 given the upgraded "vector" data? I already have the FTX Global and OpenLC. I bought TrueEarth California but the scorched earth textures and very large file sizes make it a no go for me. I fly both GA and airliners in P3D mainly in the California regions.

Looks like we have gone back in time 😄

AMD 6700 XT 12GB I've found using vanilla DX11 seems to work best. AMD users do have the choice of using FSR3 on DX11. DX12 bombs the VRAM When I enable AMD Smooth Frames, I think the VRAM doesn't seem able to cope and the frames tank.

Disable runways for AI on payware airports
level7 replied to level7's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Thanks will check this out! I have tried FSHud but sometimes it gives me some weird arrivals and departures and the default ATC can be quite fun under the right circumstances -
Is there an easy way to disable runways for AI aircraft? ... or is it possible with some tweaking with the SDK? Getting really annoyed with 07/08 arrivals/departures at ini KLAX. I'm aware in SU14 there is the option to have your own flight to land at the runway of your choosing but the AI airplanes doe their own thing.

AI Aircraft in X-Plane 12

X-CSL They seem to have a DC-3 model for a few airlines -
I used P3D v5.4. I used the AMD driver overlay to see the enhanced frame rates which was roughly doiuble the Shift+Z frame counter. It was enabled in whatever P3D full screen was by pressing Alt+Enter. Because I prefer to fly windowed I didn't test it out too much. I didn't immediately notice any graphical glitches. I've also used this a bit with MSFS and also haven't found any significant glitches.

Don't know if it's random but this seemed to help a bit for me -
Maintaining the Highest Frame Rates
level7 replied to PilotPete99's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
it should be pointed out that the AMD AFMF will work with DX11 -
seems to work ok for me! AMD users should definitely try this out! get about double the frames from before, although they suggest the base frames should be 60+, it looked pretty smooth to me when i was under that.

Xtreme Prototype Lear25 v4 out - Anyone tried yet?
level7 replied to Alec's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I agree, manual throttle with SPD mode would be a strong part of the appeal of flying such a plane 😬 -
Anyone with an AMD card try out the new stable release Smooth Motion Frame driver? Theoretically this should work with P3D V4/5/6 too given it's a DX11/12/12 game. Requires full screen and disabling VSYNC though. I'll try it a bit later and report back 😛 https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-24-1-1

Agree the MAX is more resource heavy and the PMDG artwork is more polislhed
