That first picture comparison........ The FSX picture. What in the world is that small white block towards the bottom right section of the image? Is that one of the high detailed airports Maddog has been telling us about that shipped with stock FSX?

Thanks everyone for the great support. I actually had visions of maybe going to FSX but after this not so much. I did heed the advice provided here i.e. I turned off Crossfire and Hyperthreading with did yield much much better results. Wowk I will try reducing the settings as you mentioned. I'm assuming your referring to AA and those kind of things? Right now I think I have it set to 8x rather than 16x but I will check when I get home from work this evening. Iron, Running native 1920 x 1080. Just a thought. This system has two video cards. Each card has (2) individual DVI outputs. Does it matter which card and/or which side of the card I plug into?

Are you saying I should enter the Bios and turnoff hyperthreading? And I will download CPUz. Do you know what speed it should be running during FS9? I dont have FSX installed. Mitch

Hi Ironmaiden, Yes! Trust me I am not over exaggerating the low FPS. Its horrific for this system. I am running 1920 x 1080 native. And yes I do understand FS only sees one core. But my previous system, the Q6600 was also a quad core and blew this new system out of the water in performance. Thats why I mentioned the slow wireless internet connection as well speculating that maybe more is going on here than I know. Mitch

Hi, I recently purchased a new system that I thought would be able to power FS9 flawlessly. I was wrong. In fact, I had better results on my Q6600. I am at a loss. With everything maxed in FS9, I was getting 22-24 FPS dropping to 9-10 FPS while transitioning cloud layers. The visuals look very good and crisp. I have played with the settings for the video cards i.e. antialiasing etc. but I must add I'm more familiar with Nvidia products versus these AMD Radeon cards. Ironically, my wireless internet connection on this new computer is also very slow. It sits right next to the old system which still retains a very fast wireless internet connection. I would greatly appreciate anyone in the "hardware knowledged community" that can assist me with suggestions. Please understand that the system was purchased on this past Saturday so it is in effect - brand new. Yes, three times last night. I thought it was me. But come to think of it I have not had an OOM in a long time up until now. All three times it happened to me was during initial climb out 2000ft and below. Twice on 10R and one on 28L. No problems taxiing though. M-

Joe, just curious..... Do you look out the windows a lot during your flights? I have found I get similar errors if I am constantly looking out the windows during a flight. In my opinion, the worst being the look down view where your viewing just the ground. Its been mentioned before that FS9 does not like the user constantly changing views.For kicks, why dont you try re-enabling the AES at DTW and try another flight into that airport. And if you are one that likes to change views, dont. On this flight just use your basic cockpit views, front left, front, and front right. Be curious to see if you can complete the flight successfully.One other thing. Heat as caused this issue for me in the past as well. Thats why I keep the side panel off my PC.M.
