Hand flown SIDs
I usually hand fly up to 5000 on the SID and I always disconnect the AP above 2500 on approaches (in good WX). Much more enjoyable and when you have FS2Crew doing a lot of the work it isn't hard at all :)Ethan

Aloha Airlines Released
Awesome job Richard! I know the paint kit is really frustrating but are you still planning to release the Starliner?

I'm confused about the whole FSUIPC thing too but I do have my weather settings turned off in there.

Active Sky 2012 & NGX
Hi Joel,I have only done three flights so far but here is what I have found.1 - it was raining in Portland this morning and I could not see the sky. Keep in mind though that it was foggy and I haven't been in a situation yet where its just overcast and rauny.2. I have not noticed this yet and the transition from fog to clouds to open sky on departure has been very smooth so far. Can't comment on approach though yet.3. This was a big problem for me when before with ASX. Almost every flight I would have this issue especially during cruise. So far with AS2012, the only wind changes I have noticed are extremely smooth and subtle (usually just changing from station to station which I barely notice). I also want to add that with the latest unregistered FSUIPC, the airpspeed does not shoot up and down (at least not in a crazy way like it used to) when you hit turbulence but rather the planes shakes just like I have noticed in real life.I highly recommend it!

Active Sky 2012 & NGX
Just did another flight from PDX to SAN. Again, poor visibility at Portland and AS2012 did a great job showing it. I didn't get any performance hit until descending into San Diego with five busy cumulus layers but part of that is the LAX area which is a real hog. I wish I took some screenshots, the departure was absolutely stunning with the overcast clouds covering ground (which I could not see) and the base of nearby Mt. Hood.

Will give it a try but I don't know if it affects unregistered versions. I really don't want to whip out another 30 or so bucks for something I only need for the NGX and AS2012.

Active Sky 2012 & NGX
Well I was about 50 minutes into LIH-SJC and I got the dreaded s-turns. The wind was a constant 40 kts tailwind but it was super smooth, it barely changed all and yet the plane coulden't even stay on a straight course. I had this same problem with ASX, about once every few flights and always over the ocean. Maybe its the plane? Also, when I departed there were four cloud layers and when I went to the outside view, it got super stuttery and the frames were horrible, but if I went into the VC and looked around it was normal. Looks like I'm going to have to do some experimenting. I have an un-registered FSUIPC with the weather turned off.

Just took off from PDX for SJC. 1/8 mile visibilty with overcast clouds down to 200 feet and FS was running smoother then ever. The fog graphics are waaay better then the defualt and once I climbed out of the cloud layer, I was greeted with an amazing view of the clouds hugging the hills. Again, waaaay better then the defualt fog/cloud layers near the ground. Will get some screenies up soon, I'm to busy enjoying the amazing sky and sun infront of me :)

$40 without VAT. Kind of like buying ASE again but hey, its comes with textures and its better then $80!I just finished installing and playing around with the textures so far - I'm impressed! For a guy who has just recently upgraded from ASX to ASE and has been using Carenado's Real Sky Color (which they stopped selling in 2009 I believe lol) its like a whole new world! I especially like the new ashpalt runway textures - looks like the real thing and it really boosts the Orbx airports and blends in nicely. The new strobe and runway halos are great too. Tommorow I will do a test flight with a loaded flightplan and textures.

Yes! Been waiting awhile to fly this bird. Thanks Richard!

You know you been playing NGX too much when...
This is my favorite: When I'm slowing down while approaching a red light and I pretend pulling back on the shift is actually the thrust reversers. I have also perfected the rumbling noise

NGX Videos
I'm not sure but I would say the average 'good' landing for me is -100 to -250 fpm. Remember, a firm touchdown right on the markings is alot better then a super-smooth -50 fpm halfway down the runway. My personal record is -42 but thats dangerous because the brakes won't engage until the full weight of the plane comes down on the mains (I think). Most VAs have a limit of -700 fpm.
