1.03GB Update For FS2020?
XCLTM3 replied to cooperwarner8's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I haven't come across this yet - not showing up for me. -
How many people ordered the full deluxe version???
XCLTM3 replied to rtodepart's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I pre ordered the "top of the range" premium deluxe - with a side of fries, ketchup, pepsi and some churros! All jokes aside - I did pre order premium deluxe. -
Nitpicking a brilliant looking game
XCLTM3 replied to d25bev's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
So it's not just me that has picked up on some of the issues pertaining to Sydney? The trees at Sydney airport and city/suburbs are way off from reality. The missing iconic Harbour Bridge (and Anzac Bridge). Crossing fingers these will be resolved prior to release or shortly thereafter. -
In truth for me, I don't plan on flying anywhere I wouldn't plan on visiting in person. Ergo, there will be a few countries I will not even bother exploring. 😉 Having said that, I do recognize the clear point you're making Dom. I have been extremely curious as to the quality of imagery within MFS offline mode and how that compares to default/payware scenery in P3D for example. I guess I'm going to find out pretty darn soon.

Can't get myself to enjoy my old sim
XCLTM3 replied to Andreas Stangenes's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I've literally hoped for a couple of decades now, that at some point in my lifetime flightsim worlds will look "real". ie: when I look around outside the virtual cockpit whether on the airport tarmac or up in the air at any altitude - I see the real world - not the cartoonish style of geography we've been seeing for decades - although the release of ORBX True Earth at least helped (but TE regions require huge volumes of SSD space which for my mind ends up counteracting the positive side of real looking geography). Could you imagine having the entire world terrain rendered in TE and the sheer volume of disk space required in your PC? And once MSFS & Asobo spilled the beans last year - my reaction was "YES at Last !" As for disk space - it would seem MFS and Asobo have resolved the issue of real looking world and the disk space required. I'm optimistic that it will deliver considering all that has been revealed thus far. I'm also not expecting it to be perfect on release either. Like all new products, there are always release issues. But in time, I'm certain they will be resolved. -
Can't get myself to enjoy my old sim

I thought I was the only one who lost interest in P3D when I saw MFS for the first time last year. I haven't taken a flight since. Good to know I'm not alone. Phew...... -
Market Place Partners
XCLTM3 replied to Richard Sennett's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
They may have "turned the tap off" on cross-grade for the moment - that doesn't necessarily mean that they can't "turn the tap back on" even if it means using a different term to cross-grade - it would just be a case of marketing semantics. In any case, if ORBX decide to charge full price on the MSFS2020 products (whilst most of their customer base already have those very products in differing platforms and were able to take advantage of cross-grade pricing historically)...I'd like to see how that turns out for ORBX. ORBX would have to prove to the customer base that the technology in MSFS2020 is so new, that all their current existing products will need to be redone from scratch in order to justify charging the full cost to customers. One thing is certain - time will tell. -

XCLTM3 replied to Richard Sennett's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
@OzWhitey You are correct. However, let's imagine if they should decide to alter that course of past performance (ie cross grade pricing platforms) and charge full price on products we already own on other platforms - you and I both know there will be considerable blowback from the customer base. Ergo, I believe cross-grade will be maintained. -

ORBX CEO (Anna Cico) announced earlier this week that they are involved with MSFS2020. At this juncture, it appears they willl revise as many of their airports to be compliant with the new platform. https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/197150-orbx-and-microsoft-flight-simulator/ This is good news. Since I own quite a few of their airports, they will be cross-graded to MSFS at a lower cost than buying new. I look forward to that. -
FS20 installation location
XCLTM3 replied to Paladin2005's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Many thanks Bert, I was somewhat apprehensive whilst downloading the app as it appeared it wouldn't provide a choice of location installation and forced the location instead - now that I know I can carry out the action you prescribe I feel a whole lot better. I have a question before I move the app to a more suitable location - since we can't move the Microsoft Flight Simulator SimConnect Client - will that be a problem if it's not located in the same new directory where we moved the actual sim app? -
MSFS available for preorders. Releasing August 18th!
XCLTM3 replied to TuFun's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Because I can .....I've got the cash - the motivation - the anticipation - and Asobo advised me that I'll receive special attention in the form of speedier/greater bandwidth.........🤣 😉 -

Microsoft's answer to ActiveSky

I noticed on some vids/screenshots where clouds looked very dark almost as if they were volcanic plumes. Having said that, we must bear in mind that this is all still in it's relative infancy and is still presumably being further enhanced and developed. Can't wait to see the various weather phenomenon in final beta/release...... -
Quoted from RSR, [31MAY20] Weekend NOTAMs and a short development update... It is always important to Read to the End:Just to minimize any guesswork, we are planing to bring each of our four major product lines (737, 747, 777 and DC-6) into the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. MSFS promises to give us entirely new capabilities, and it will take some time to adapt each product to capitalize, but they will all be brought over in time. We will have more to say about this at the right time and place, but there has been a bit of hyperbolic discussion that I wanted to clarify with this piece of information here. This makes MSFS2020 just that more tasty for me....can't wait. I'll have a side of curly fries with that please.....

May 28th, 2020 - Development/Insider Update
XCLTM3 replied to ChaoticBeauty's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Hopefully Asobo are still ironing out these issues. You'll also note that Anzac bridge is missing, as is Sydney Tower. Again, presumably these will be incorporated soon. But I'm loving what I'm seeing and the trajectory Asobo is on. -

Prepar3D version 5 announced
XCLTM3 replied to LHookins's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I'm holding out on upgrading to v5. From what I've seen thus far, there's not enough to entice me to stay with P3D (I purchased v4.4 when P3D went 64 bit). The fact that there is no upgrade fee, but instead a flat purchase fee also does not help. With what I've seen thus far with respect to MSFS 2020 - it's pretty much visually what I've always envisaged and hoped for out of a flight sim. For those who have continually referred to MSFS 2020 as "vapor ware".....I think for the most part they are die hard LM fans who feel threatened by the competition. FS2020 is definitely coming and in the format and visuals we've all seen. I will say that I am grateful to LM for continuing on from FSX and developing it further as they have done. Since flying P3D v4.4 I've experienced zero OOM's. That was almost impossible with FSX given all my 3rd party scenery and aircraft add-ons. But as I look at some video's produced recently of beta P3D v5 with Orbx True Earth GB, NORCAL and SOCAL - they look decent - but not breathtaking like FS2020. There is an overwhelming difference between both products that are beyond comparison. Ergo, I'll continue with v4.5 until such time as FS2020 is available....... -

Hi Keven, just wondering when you envisage the update pertaining to the inclusion of Portals/Walls for Chaseplane will be ready for implementation/roll out to customers? (as per page 48 of the User manual - Aircraft Section) Thanks & Regards,
-
@Headley Thanks for the tip regarding the camera. I'll give that a whirl.

Hi Keven, I'm new to ChasePlane after using EZDOK for years with FSX. Recently built an entire new PC rig for P3D. Due to the many positive reviews, I chose ChasePlane for my new install of P3D v4.4 2 questions: 1. I installed ChasePlane and OldProps etc as admin. However, each time I start P3D, I get a pop-up box requesting permission (must click OK) to start it (also another pop-up box for FSFX packages). Any way I can circumvent this from occurring? 2. Also, I noticed that if there has been no keystroke or movement of my joystick controller for a set period of time, the view automatically changes to an external view? Couldn't see this in the manual. Any way I can prevent that from occurring? Appreciate your assistance. Rgds, Steve
