  1. Thank goodness. There is someone else in this community with taste!
  2. I enjoy the airplane quite a bit, but am probably not as picky as some. I have but two issues with it: 1. Have to load a default aircraft first.2. Why didn't they make the rudder trim atop the panel operative?
  3. Done routinely in the real world. Maybe Navigraph simply doesn't offer charted visual flight procedures (CVFPs), they are the red-headed stepchildren of the TERPS world.
  4. The altitudes depicted along the route are only minimum altitudes for those segments. Many of these FSX FMCs treat a minimum altitude as a mandatory altitude. Absent other instructions from ATC, set your FMS for KARLA at 11000 and 280 kts. landing north, or 11000 and 250 kts. landing south, with no other altitudes below cruise.
  5. Aerosoft's OV-10 is exactly what you're looking for.
  6. Maybe this could help:http://www.b737.org.uk/vspeeds.htm#Landing_V_Refs_There is much more available on the Pilot's Notes page of this website.
  7. I tried installing the Shader Mod and consistently got an error message about a script missing, followed by installation rollback. Any ideas?
  8. Wow, I'll try to go chronologically...B727DC9C172 (too young to fly then, have several hundred hours in them now)B737Piper TomahawkC-7OH-58CH-53C-141T-33Dash 7Nord 260C-130R22 (pilot)Bell 47 (pilot)UH-1 (pilot)Dash 8Bell Jet Ranger (pilot)Beech SkipperShorts 330C402C152 (pilot)C177 (pilot)MD80Piper Arrow (pilot)Citabria (pilot)Decathlon (pilot)Pitts S2B (pilot)E120BAE 146B757Piper Apache (pilot)Piper Twin Commanche (pilot)CRJE145Waco UPFC140 (pilot)A320Stearman (pilot)B777Acro Sport II (pilot)
  9. Today at 1330z, there was no update available.
  10. The RealAir Decathlon does a very passable spin, especially to the left. Stall the airplane in level flight with the stick full back, just as the stall buffett begins put in full left rudder. Hold the controls this way until you're ready to stop the spin.
  11. RealAir or A2A? I'm interested in which one flies better. Engine health simulation is not a concern.I've always been very impressed by RealAir's efforts to make airplanes stall, spin, and slip better.I know the A2A Spit with Accusim has much more glitter, but does it fly better than the almost-four-year old RealAir Spit?
  12. I do not recommend the Iris DA42, mainly because it doesn't put DME on the G1000, plus a host of other small items--starting with the occupants. Like most Iris airplanes, it's great if you get it on sale, but otherwise....Actually, the gap between the glareshield and panel is quite realistic and typical of Diamond airplanes.I have no experience with the Eaglesoft model.
  13. 1. Open the fuel and payload drop-down and make sure it's got gas in it!2. If you've not already, move the gust lock back to open up the clipboard. Pick "autostart" on the clipboard, this will light up the avionics. Move the gust lock forward.3. Overhead panel: on the bottom left of the fuel control section, push the fuel feed button for the #1 engine. The green line should now be horizontal.4. Turn the #1 start switch to start. It will move itself to run when the engine starts.5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the #2 engine.6. You never need the APU. IIRC, the sim airplane doesn't care if you set the electrical power switches or not.
  14. I don't know what airplane you're flying, but a good FMS--not that many FSX airplanes have such a thing--would get you down to the MDA at 2.2 DME. After that you'll have to fly the thing!
  15. An LDA is a localizer that isn't aligned with the runway. This procedure leads you to a point in space (2.2 DME at 600') from which you should be able to see, turn in, and descend for runway 26L. Fly it just like any other non-precision approach.
  16. I've never had a problem with this. Are you setting up the HSI (assuming it's an airplane so equipped) correctly with the inbound course?
  17. It is accurate. The 757 does land slower; its wing is another Boeing masterpiece. The stretched 737s have to land fast or else they'll strike the tail.
  18. The pneumatic brakes are a back-up system in case the hydraulic brakes aren't working. In my experience, I recall only one case of them being used on a 727, and they performed very well.
