  1. Sure, it may not be for everyone, but it sure is eye opening on the process involved. Regardless of the outcome, some really knowledgeable people in the community are guiding a Linux newbie install X-Plane, I think it's pretty neat. What's the difference between this and helping someone develop scenery, install planes or hardware etc... this is just much more involved but the end result is the same, get a working version of X-Plane. I don't read every topic in a forum either, only ones that I'm interested in. 😉
  2. It's like a flight sim suspense novel... intriguing so far 🕵️‍♂️
  3. At PC Aviator Australia. http://www.pcaviator.com.au/store/home.php?cat=910
  4. I have really enjoyed the Airbus bundle (A318-321) also, very well modeled systems and a co-pilot to boot! Haven't had any issues performance wise either; stable operation and consistent frames. Tons of repaints available also. As mentioned above, it's an absolute steal if you can get the package on sale. JD
  5. Worked as stated, no issues so far and only took a couple mins  Good tip Rich. JD
  6. I've experienced some issues with this aircraft also. Don't get me wrong, it's a great plane but in my case it's the only one that continually causes P3D to crash for me. Sometimes randomly but usually when I start utilizing the G1000 and clicking around in it... that's the end JD
  7. I would like to think that the big players in the 3rd party add on department have already done some R&D for a 64 bit platform, and hopefully will be prepared to support sooner than later. JD
  8. Good point Jeroen, limitations (coding) of the programs themselves would be a showstopper. Who knows what the future holds though...
  9. We tweak, move, mix, copy, re-compile, de-compile, and create Frankenstein-esque wonders for the community. If it's freeware why not try (adhering to the authors rules)... what's the worst that can happen. Jd
  10. Sounds about right, you can also create themes of your favorite textures and load with one click. This is a good way to organize the textures that you like. Tip: - backup your default textures so you can easily revert back. - select the optimum texture resolution (clouds/runways etc...) from the configuration menu, might save a few fps depending on your system. Jd
  11. Caught Traffic 360 on sale and so far so good. Not too heavy on frames, very nice models, decent traffic schedules and all my ai appear to have night lighting. The interface (outside the sim) is a little clunky though. JD

    Brilliant!!! Jimmy D
  13. It's nice to read such an enthusiastic post w/ pics to boot! Nicely done! LLFS9
  14. Good post Jont, I too have become soooo fixated with all the add-ons trying to make my sim "perfect" that the actual flying takes a back seat sometimes! Though after a tough day at the office it's sometimes nice just to sit at an airport and watch the nearly virtual world go by ^_^
  15. Gents, I can understand the need to keep things organized in a forum for continuity and ease of use for the member, but let's remember we're here to help our fellow simmer, first post or 3000th post. I still get a wonderful feeling of accomplishment knowing that I've helped someone out or provided some food for thought on an important product purchase. Even if it seems extremely trivial and is common knowledge to the more experienced simmers, the answer you provide has got someone out of a bind. We were all newbies at one time ^_^ Even though comments have veered slightly off course, the OP hasn't complained, he has respectfully apologized, co-operated and shown appreciation for the help some have provided. I've spent countless hours fiddling with settings, re-installing aircraft and editing fs9.cfg files, and when I'm ready to pull my hair out in frustration, the kind members of this forum come through. Let's not lose sight we're here for the exchange of ideas, and as mother used to say "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" Respectfully,
