  1. Hi! Unlikely, I was already on a 1000 fpm descent on about 030 hdg and wind was at 120 at 20 so not really ae factor. Just wondering wether initiating the descent prior to the Tod is relevant I'm this case? It felt more like the plane was pitching down rapidly to quickly "sit" on the DESC path, almost as on the point of intercept it tended to overcompensate. Puzzled as well as I was obviously below the path so I was expecting that to smooth the situation. Matteo
  2. Hi all! I've recently experienced some strange behaviour from my NGX, a 700 model ay this time. Flying from VIDP to VPQR in Vnav and Lnav at FL370. At about 10nm prior to the TOD I select the DESC NOW option on the FMS and the plane starts its 1000fpm shallow descent prior to intercepting the Vnav path. Till here all good and behaviour is normal. Upon interception of the descent path tho the plane suddenly rises the v speed to something like -3500 fpm for a couple of seconds, presumably as a burst to intercept the path. Is there a way to avoid/solve this? it seems quite unrealistic and besides my VA doesn't accept reports with v speeded higher than -3000fpm. I'd like to point out that this was NOT the result of am uncontrolled situation (e.g. weather related) but something connected to the plane logic. Does anybody know how to avoid this? (eg starting the DESC earlier/later, modifying the parameters such as oat index or other options). I really hope there's another way than overriding vnav and descend in ALT HOLD+VS. Cheers I'm advance, Matteo Capocefalo, MED1473
  3. Hi all yeah totally agree! I was really sceptical about it... Until I got it! PMDG did an ousting job in modelling the subtle and less subtle differences in the models. Totally worth it, James, try to land here (VQPR) and you'll have your answer lol Matteo Capocefalo MED1473 Ps here's the link for he charts, take a look at those minimums www.va-transaero.ru/files/charts/VQPR.pdf MED1473
  4. Hi all! I use Vroute for all my flights. Its free, works almost ll the time nd checks your routes against the eurocontol database so no issues with vatsim or ivao controllers. Never had a problem. I think you can download it for free from the Vroute website Hope it helps Matteo Capocefalo, MED 1473
  5. Hi all! To spend my two cents, 2. The wind HDG/SPD entry in the route page should be filled by the average wind aloft value, you can obtain this if you use some weather engine addon. This also fills all the legs waypoints with this value (legs page 2/2). On the other hand the wind HDG/SPD entry on the takeoff ref page 2/2 refers to the wind present at the departure airport and is used for V speeds calculations, careful because entering a value here after setting the takeoff ref. page 1/2 resets the takeoff speeds. To be honest concerning avg winds aloft vs. specific values for waypoints the difference is not that great and shouldn't have much of an impact of fuel calculations and TOC/TOD calculations. At the end of the day wind conditions are very variable and on a trip is well possible to find winds shifting from the original forecast therefore upsetting the whole picture, making an average evaluation somehow more accurate if that makes sense? Better having a semi accurate average calculation than a very specific one that only works if everything stays the same. Hope it helps, Matteo Capocefalo MED1473
  6. Hi! Sounds pretty nasty, I'd try a reinstall and making sure you've got the latest service pack installed and you run everything (fsx, ngx, etc..) as Administrator in windows. If this doesn't work send a ticket to PMDG, their technical support is awesome, a matter of hours usually. Hope it helps, Matteo MED1473
  7. Hi Ben, Just realized I was very wrong, V1 shouldn't decrease with derate. Not sure about this but the way I see it V speeds are not a variable of engine derates, especially concerning OAT derate. V2 is to some extent dependent on a fixed derate. V1 and Vr should stay the same independently on the derate you choose that becomes a factor only on takeoff run. (less power available=longer distance to reach the speed). Sorry about the confusion but I'm pretty sure if you have a look through the CTM in the ngx docs engine derating is discussed. Hope it helps, Matteo MED1473
  8. Hi Bert, no, sorry my mistake but speed was normal, as any other parameter, the trouble started at flaps 30, speed 152kt (Vref+5) fully configured and "stable". You might have a point on the crosswind tho even tho the speed variation, it literally shot up from 160ish (slowing to Vref) to 200ish Kts, seems more like a weird sudden tailwind MED1473
  9. Hi all! Just wondering what you mean about v speeds increasing? Surely if you lower engine performance by derating v1 decreases? Matteo capocefalo, Med14732
  10. Hi all, I've recently come across a strange behaviour of fsx/IVAO weather engine/ngx. I was performing a fail op autoland on RWY32 at Leeds with winds from 240 deg at 18kt gusts 28kt, established on final, loc and gs captured and stable, full landing configuration and speed norm. Descending below 2000ft the speed starts to shoot up to about 190kt. Performed a go around and tried the approach again. Same story, fully established, configured and speed about 160kt. Autothrottle on obviously. Again speed below 2000 ft shoots up, tried speedbrakes to no avail, this time autopilot disconnects just above the threshold and I end up wondering how much a new plane is gonna cost. Anybody has any idea? Is this normal behaviour or is it an abnormality o the software. In any case I would appreciate any advice on speed management when on a glideslope, essentially, how to slow don and manage a landing in strong wind conditions, eg. Speedbrakes, flaps down to 40? Ps pretty positive is WAS NOT windshear but an established condition and I couldn't get the speed down. Cheers, matteo capocefalo MED1473
  11. Hi Benjamin, I don't know if anybody else has mentioned it but is use a program called UTOPIA for the derate calculations, is not as complete as TOPCAT but its free and works really well. I think you can find it on AVSIM under the name Universal Take Off Performance Information Application (UTOPIA) 1.2, it's a fs2004 utility but works just as well for fsx. I use a purpose 737 fuel planner that also works very well with the ngx and i found ends up with approximately the same fuel as calculations computed via FMC, its called Boeing 737 Fuel Planner and you can find it here http://www.volny.cz/fs2002/B737FPL/B737FPL.htm. It's very good and not the usual fuel planner. The catch is that you got to calculate the reserves, wich I do in accordance with the manual (minimum fuel, usually 2600lb+5% of trip fuel+holding fuel). Having found these I've never felt the need to buy TOPCAT, even if the programs don't give you any landing calculation. Hope it helps, Matteo Capocefalo (MED1473)
  12. Sorry to hear that mate, obviously take all the time you need. Take care, Mat
  13. Hello all! To spend my two cents, if we're talking about realism having to look somewhere else for a reference to charts doesn't negate any realism at all (it adds some in my opinion). I use a small notebook with he navigraph utility intalled in it but before that i used to use paper charts (my girlfriend knows about the quatity of paper i've got knocking about our tiny flat) and i found it an exceptional addition to the realism of simflying because it expands the simulation to something you can actually touch and doesn't confine it to your desktop. If you think about it, having to pan about the 3d cockpit, click a few switches with your mouse to bring up the graphs on your screen doesn't add much to your experience as having to look on a printed chart you keep next to you in your "home" cockpit! So much so as i still print lots of the most important charts and docs to keep handy while flying. Definitelly not worth holding a release like that to provide a utility that at most is a way to "simplify" our hobby and not to add realism to it! Just a thought, take care! Matteo Capocefalo MED1473
  14. got the impression i've made this a bit too complicated! If that sorry, the last one will do just fine!! cheers, Matteo!
  15. Hello all, just a small query. In the NGX intro docs is mentioned that the pushback urtility included as a part of the fmc functionalities is a provisional one used to cover until a better tailored one was being developed. Just wondering if anybody knew about any news in this sense? Thank you! Matteo Capocefalo (MED1473)
  16. Ha yeah that's exactly what I was thinking! The idea was to keep the quite plain white blue patter but make it a bit more streamlined/less boring. Maybe some blue/light blue ribbons to go with the yellow one you added? Another idea I had was to have a blue blot on the nose being teared into ribbons by the wind. Only an idea. Don't want to male it too tacky but really wanna do something for all that white at the front AMD all those straight lines! Thankyou so much, really feel I'm gonna owe you a beer at the end of this lol PS it would be fantastic to have a little Italian flag and the registration I-1473M somewhere on the rear/tail if possible?
  17. Hello everyone, I fly for the excellent Mediterranea VA and I was wondering if anyone is up to the challenge of designing a livery for the awesome PMDG 737NGX 800 winglets. The templates of the ones I had in mind can be found here http://www.mediterraneavirtual.com/fs9/hangar/index.htm but I was thinking about somehing a bit more swanky (with ribbons and the like)... Thank you in advance Matteo Capocefalo MED1473
  18. Awesome! That's the idea spot on! As you've noticed the liveries tend to be all a bit plain, it would be really good if you could add some ribbons or something else to make it look a bit more "cool". We're definitelly open to any better re-work! That is, if you can be bothered, time's not an issue really!! Thanks so much again! Matteo Capocefalo, MED1473
  19. Hello everyone, I've been flying for Mediterranea Virtual Airlines, an Italian VA for over a year and I've recently fallen in love with this splendid aircraft by PMDG. I would be extremelly grateful, and I'm sure so would be lots of other members of the VA to anyone who will attempt a repaint in the livery of Mediterranea, well, I should probably say theme.A few examples can be found here http://www.mediterra...angar/index.htm and any improvement on the theme to make it look less plain or else is more than welcome!!!! Thanks very much in advance! PS please let me know if you take on the task on this forum! Matteo Capocefalo, MED1473
