Argh! I'm So Tired of This!
scotchegg replied to andyjohnston.net's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Looking into my crystal ball, I predict that a) CTDs will not, in fact, be eliminated entirely in MS2024, and b) even if they are and all issues you have complained about so far are resolved, you will still find something to be very, very unhappy about. -
Things ok at home…?😅

WU16 new water masks : where?
scotchegg replied to ilpagaia's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
For the umpteenth time, it can be just as useful to know where things are working as where they're not. -
WU16 new water masks : where?
scotchegg replied to ilpagaia's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Oh, right. I’m not sure they actually knew it was such a mess as they’ve happily delayed updates before. -
"World Update 16: Caribbean is ON"...
scotchegg replied to iliasr's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Yeah, they're saying heavy usage always causes problems around updates, but I don't remember this before on the official forums. With the huge Teams outage last week, my faith in MS' web infrastructure is not at its highest (whether it be their own or AWS'). -

What would be the marketing benefit of that? -
WU16 new water masks : where?
scotchegg replied to ilpagaia's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Seems to be a widespread thing, affecting even other countries' water masks (e.g. Australia / Japan). Hop on over and vote: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/missing-water-masks-after-wu16/628180 -
WU16 new water masks : where?

Can’t check until much later; everyone restarting the sim after installing? -
WU16 new water masks : where?

Good grief, they don’t do themselves any favours. I mean, forgetting / borking the water masks in an island update… -
Still no historical weather options for MSFS?
scotchegg replied to jjf's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
They could have captcha style mini games in the loading screen where we could help train the AI… -

Aviator, possibly, but he’s a little too petulant for my idea of a highly accomplished person. -
January 25, 2024 MSFS Development Update
scotchegg replied to David Mills's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I missed that first time round, and that is hugely exciting, especially if they’ve got extrapolated objects / autogen (like the rocks in the rivers that Jorg said he could see and count) to go on top. Maybe some natural water colours at last! -
If you were Microsoft........

Given the hallucinogenic word-salad, I’m gonna go ahead and assume you’re full of it. -

Type-rated 787 pilot on these very forums gave it a strong thumbs up. You may know more about how a block of flats flies, but gonna go with his opinion for the 787. -
Frame generation for all RTX cards
scotchegg replied to MrFuzzy's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Cheers, it works. Unfortunately the ghosting in MSFS is still a bit too much for me so I'm back to vanilla DX12, but I can put up with it for path tracing in Cyberpunk😍 -

Reporting a different experience is not denying another, and should be seen as a helpful data point in isolating problems. -

Frame generation for all RTX cards
scotchegg replied to MrFuzzy's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Is there a single version which can be used with both MSFS and, erm, Cyberpunk…? -
World Hub: Closed Alpha Sign-Up Now Open
scotchegg replied to Krakin's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Oh I really don’t think it’s just bug squashing, especially given their own repeated and only stated reason, MS vetting. -
I felt like that on release of MSFS, and right up to the carnage that was visited on the clouds with SU5/7. Now, I feel they're frequently eclipsed by DCS' clouds (maybe not fair because there's no live weather (?)) and Visual XP. I also hope a lot of resources are devoted to their depiction in 2024.

World Hub: Closed Alpha Sign-Up Now Open
scotchegg replied to Krakin's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
On the one hand, a good step, on the other, another alpha?! They really don’t seem in much of a hurry to get this out.
