  1. I'm new to envshade and I'm trying to adjust settings on the fly but I'm not seeing any changes after reloading the shaders. I am following these steps that I found in another thread. But how do you do step 4? There is no apply button in envdir. Start the Sim and a flight (if you want so) Start Envdir (Envshade is incl. if you bought it. You can also buy Envtex for the textures if you want so. Envtex and/or Envshade will be a part in Envdir, which is the main programm to handle the settings) Set your desired sliders settings in the Envshade section of Envdir Apply this settings in Envdir/Envshade Compile your shaders in P3D (you can leave P3D open and running, even while flying would be possible) Look at the results.
  2. I tried as you said, and loaded the 152 and Core 15 is no longer pegged. Also my fps is 45-55 at the same spot. These airliners hit hard.
  3. Hmmm interesting. I loaded the 320Neo with the latest FBW mod at FlyTampa Sydney at interestingly, virtual core 15 is pegged, all others around 20%. I'm not sure what is going on, but I guess this is normal.
  4. No. I got lucky on Amazon over a month ago and paid a ridiculous $2100, now it's over $3000. It's not worth it atm.
  5. I see. However if I'm CPU limited with the CRJ, shouldn't cpu utilization be higher on each thread. As you can see in the pic, cpu across the threads roughly in the 20%-30% range.
  6. All this 4K talk makes no sense. When I drop to resolution down to 1440P and even 1080P, I am seeing negligible performance differences. The only advantage I see is lower GPU temps around ~10 degrees. Has anyone else notice this? You would think fps would increase dramatically dropping the resolution so significantly.
  7. Just throwing this out there, so excuse my ignorance, but could it simply be slow texture loading because of internet bottlenecking causing these frame dips? The reason I say this, is that once I initialize the flight, fps is stuttery and low until the sim stabilizes. Maybe everyones is experiencing different results because bandwidth is not created equal depending on isp, geographic location and host of other reasons.
  8. Not sure why you're getting dips to 6fps at KORD. For me once the sim stabilizes, it hovers between 25-27fps in cockpit at KORD at 4K Ultra with default traffic settings. I tried droning around the airport and I can't get dips that dramatic.
  9. I'm glad I picked up an already overpriced 3090 over a month ago, now it's over $1000 dollars more than I paid. Unbelievable.
  10. No? I assumed since the early days of MS FSX, we have been continually beta testing.
  11. What is the best way to stay current on mods. Scouring github or flighsim.to is getting rather tedious after every MSFS update. The FlybyWire update method is the only exception. Is there a way to auto update mods as they are released, or am I asking for too much?
  12. No one will argue that visually, MSFS is in its own class, but unfortunately, MSFS is last in class for those purely interested in study level sims despite the mods. When will that turn around? I don't know, years from now, maybe? Believe me. I want MS and Asobo to catch up to that niche market, because performance in MSFS certainly outclasses P3D and would be an incredible platform to host the level of detail required within the cockpit. Particularly when MSFS switches to dx12.
  13. Maybe, until you access a PMDG, FSlab, or even A2A ac, then you remember what simulation is supposed to be all about.
  14. For the simple fact that I would like to know when an update it occuring. If it weren't for avsim I would not have even realize that the fix happened.
  15. Mine updated without my knowledge since I accidently had autoupdate set to on in the MS Store settings. That's going back to off immediately.
  16. Ok in all seriousness, I'm going through the driver release notes, and I see no mention of resizable bar support. Where are people getting this info?
  17. I was just going to say MSFS does seem snappier. 😄
  18. Not sure that video did any favors, but when you go EA, it's hard to go back despite the work LM has to do with cloud and weather implementation. In a way it's comparable to going to MSFS from P3Dv5. It's now hard for me to go back, because the visuals in MSFS are so spectacular and breathtaking parred with next level performance. V5 brought dx12 performance to this old FSX platform that I have never seen since the first days of FSX. LM is on the right track, just wish they were a little quicker about it. I've never run my new pc build with P3Dv4.5 but I can tell you that on my old 2700K and RTX2080 build, P3Dv5 ran better and smoother out of the gate. And you always have that option to disable EA mode for that old legacy look and perfectly functioning weather and clouds. IMO there is no reason to go back to v4. In fact I deleted all my backup installers and v4 files just the other day.
  19. The heaviest situation I have tried so far is EA on, 4K textures at 4K resolution with a triple monitor setup with all sliders max, 100% AIG traffic with FlyTampa KLAS with Orbx usuals sitting in the NGX and then panning around at over 1000ft. No more than 10.1GB roughly. So yes, the 3090 is extreme overkill, however, the other GPU options available out there are cutting it too close imo, particularly considering the prices. I wish there was a 16GB Nvidia card, for example. But then again, in the real world, I don't run 4K textures and maxed out settings, because despite the 3090, fps is still adversely affected by those extreme settings. I'm one of the few, I think, that strives for 60fps, not 30. But at the end of the day, I was seeking stability first and foremost, and an end to VRAM crashes I was constantly getting with my 8GB 2080. I'm hoping the 3090 will really shine once MSFS go's full dx12.
  20. All my issues with v5 went away after I rebuilt my PC to modern specs, particularly adding a 3090. All vram ctd's I was having are now gone. Now if only LM would fix the precipitation issues with EA on, that would be great.
  21. Just voted. Thanks for the heads up. Call me old school, but I prefer steam gauges over glass cockpits, at least in the simulation world.
  22. I haven't opened MSFS in almost a week. Let me know when it's safe to run it again. Sheesh...
  23. I can't wait for the dx12 implementation. It will put my 3090 to good use.
  24. The Realair Duke Turbine was a real nice one. And the Legacy V2 Turbo model is just awesome.
