  1. @Evan Banalian has the right to express his thoughts here in the forums. I imagine that he paid for X-plane (much like everyone else here) and registered on this forum (much like everyone else here) to share his thoughts / contribute etc. Contrary to your comments about his posts, your condemning him "says a lot" about the person you are. Others seemed to respond to him without resorting to attacking him, you might want to try route next time.
  2. The Sr22 seem to always climb (without flaps) with constant power no matter how much elevator trim I adjust. The plane seems to settle for about 30 sec and then begins to rapidly climb, sometimes reaching over 1000 ft/min. There seems to be no scale or way for me to tell how much elevator trim is applied, when it is time to land (approach) things are really unstable because I have applied so much upward trim it is hard to determine where my trim setting is to get things back to normal to start my descent. The plane also bobbles when trying to maintain a steady descent rate to track the glidescope. Hands off, full flaps, at about 30% - 40% power, the plane will maintain 300 - 400 ft/min at about 85 KIAS, then the nose will dip, causing more speed and a higher descent rate for a moment before it pitches upward again hitting a climb, then settling and the cycle continues. I also have the Alabeo DA42 and I have no problems with this planes pitch stability.
  3. I have the F1-GNS-750 and AntsAirplane’s Eaglet. When both loading and activating an approach, the approach waypoints load in both the GNS-750 and the Eaglet panel. 30% of the time, the autopilot (nav mode) locks on to the 1st waypoint of the approach and proceeds in sequence. The problem… 70% of the time, I get a [susp] icon on the GNS-750 (at the bottom) and pressing the [unsusp] button that also appears, I get a message “waypoint sequence suspended” with a missed approach title. Although the 1st waypoint is the activated leg in both the GNS-750 and the Eaglet panel, the autopilot steers directly to the missed approach pattern (holding) waypoint. There seems to be nothing that I can do to get the autopilot to steer to the activated leg in the approach. I don’t know why 70% of the time, the GNS-750 goes into a missed approach procedure. This never happens with the default Garmin 296 in the Eaglet.
  4. We all value different aspects of flight sims vs. what a particular product has to offer. After adding Orbx (Global, Vector, OpenLC), ASP4/ASCA, Flight1 GNS, and 3rd party aircraft addons; I am able to enjoy GA flying in P3Dv4. P3Dv4 has many 3rd party addon help fill in the gaps for me. However, a Dev will need to seriously invest in fully overhauling the core sim to produce something close to modern day software from other sim / gaming areas. But for now, P3Dv4 has made some good advances since the days of FSX.
  5. The more "quality" dlc, the better. Releasing these addons during the early access period 1) shows the expansion potential 2) shows the early adopters for 3rd party support, and 3) exposes any compatibility issues that can be addressed "before" the final release. Again, DTG seems to be on the right track here and I am all for them releasing dlc pre-release to "pad their pockets" given that I was able to buy FS for $15 and then get FSW for free. I mean let's face it, when will DTG break even...after the MS license, the AccuFeel license, the Orbyx license, the Truesky license etc.? What is truly sad here...is that the DEV had to explain their actions when they have already shown a commitment to taking the core sim to the next level. @DTG_Cryss should have 100 rep points for even bothering to comment on "business as usual". Ok...now get back to enjoying FSW everyone, DTG "still" seems to have their eye on ball.
  6. I use a 60 inch 1080p TV for my rig, running wide view and zoom @ 0.70 looks best to me. As others have said, what looks best to you is what you should use. My logic is to give myself (sitting in front of the monitor) a "life size" sense of sitting inside an actual cockpit where I can see a fair amount of the instruments without panning (I also use Track IR). Zoom at 0.70 gives me the best feel (sense of speed, and size of VC in front of me). My next step is to get an 80 TV so that the letters/numbers on the glass cockpits are larger at 0.70 zoom level (and then test what 0.60 looks like).
  7. All in all, this is great news. As more Devs join in, FSW will expand.
  8. To my fellow FSW enthusiasts, If you feed the naysayers, they will continue to post…dragging you into a futile debate about a fantastic sim that you have already invested in and enjoy. Greatness doesn’t need to be defended, you either see it or you don’t.
  9. Is that the default Orbx lighting or are you using any enhancements? I ask because my highways seem to have a deep orange glow that I do not see in your pic, and would like to get rid of.
  10. Well starting the additional programs isn't the problem for me as a batch file pretty much takes care of that in one click. However, I am concerned about the additional processing that may take away from the smoothness of the sim as the programs compete for CPU time. So it is the negative performance impact that can be an issue for some.
  11. I agree, I also would resort to running multiple products side by side for the lack of good features in the base sim. However, looking at DTG's current offering....Orbx already included, TrueSky already included, I think that we are seeing a shift in how a core sim can encompass these otherwise 3rd party additions from the start....leaving the expertise to the Devs that do it best (not being the jack of all trades), and partnering up to offer a more complete product.
  12. At first you stated that the combination would be too complicated, but that doesn't sound like what you are quoting now. My point was that a combination would not be "complicated" to use in response to your statements. Again, running "ASP4 with clouds" is no more complicated than running ASP4 and ASCA seperate. How do you determine that the majority did not want a combined product? Because I recall seeing "complaints" about how HiFi charged for separate products (weather & clouds), and I also see where many have purchased both ASXX and ASCA to have at the end of the day.... a "combined product" with that one of kind "dynamic" interaction between weather and clouds. To me, weather with clouds in "one" product is not the jack of all trades...just bringing two closely related features together...as Hifi ultimately did with their dynamic weather option. With that said, many "complaints" about flight sims (FSX/P3D/XP etc) in "general" is that they are not complete sims. Where is the great weather, clouds, ground textures, ATC, traffic etc? So apparently the masses are "looking" for a complete product, which is why we are forced to rely on these addons in the first place. Everyone will have a different opinion, but I don't think that product fragmentation, and having 5 and 6 additional programs running along with a sim is what "most" people are ultimately looking for to have a complete flight sim experience.
  13. I think it is a matter of how the Dev chooses to implement the combined features. How does "ASP4 with clouds built in" seem any more complicated than having to have both ASP4 and ASCA running in parallel just to get dynamic weather? I really don't think that having a weather engine that also includes its own cloud and sky textures is a complicated matter. Particularly when the same Dev offers the same features in separate products. IMO, any UI can have both a set of simple "set it and go" options and then a more detailed set of options to accommodate users.
  14. There are many offerings and combinations with these products, but at some point I have to enjoy flying. I have RexTD and ASP4/ASCA. I use RexTD for all nonSky and nonCloud textures. I then set ASP4/ASCA to full dynamic and go flying. I may not have the best "looking" combination to some, but I have a convincing sky/weather environment for when I fly....It looks good to me. Hopefully, one of these Devs can come up with a "simple" & complete solution instead of this multi-product / fragmented offering that IMO only serves to increase their revenue.
  15. I have been waiting on this update as well.
  16. Good news. Perhaps we will see an Orbx lanclass isntaller in the near future for FSW.
  17. I think that the vid makes some valid points. In the last year, I have gone from XP11 as my main sim (for GA flying) to P3Dv4, and now here comes FSW. All 3 Devs are adding some nice features. However, I do think that FSW will “eventually” take the lead with newcomers and casual simmers (like myself). Features like the cold and dark tutorial and missions gives this sim a “serious” welcoming and teaching appeal. DTG has a robust “core” product that doesn’t really need tons of addons to make it enjoyable. What other features does DTG plan to release?.....Only time will tell, but they have made some serious advances in a very short time.
  18. It sounds like you all are having that "flight experience" Steven Hood talked about. "It doesn't real weather" "It doesn't have the big planes" "It doesn't have blah blah blah..." It does have a unique feel and a "dedicated" team trying to put forth the best fight experience possible...from a PC. When those other "don't haves" get put in...it will be all the more amazing.
  19. Hi, My Specs are i7 7700k / 16GB 3200 Ram / GTX 1080 Question 1 Can anyone comment on the performance impact of the flight1 GTN 750? I am flying AntsAirplane's Eaglet to use with the GTN 750. Currently I am capable of flying the Carenado DA42 glass cockpit smoothly...if that's any type of reference point. Also I see that we can't load P3D flight plans into the GTN 750. How does Active Sky P4 know what weather to load if a P3D flight plan is not loaded?
  20. I also started with GEX/UTX back in my FSX days. I went to Orbx Global for P3D back then because it was...well...Global. Since then, I also invested in other FTX products. GEP3D looks really good and I don't know which product I would go with if I were starting from scratch. I wish the team well with their products at Flight1.
  21. That's a good point, I have a Buttkicker, but it stopped working a year ago and I haven't really investigated why. OpusFSI will definitely give the incentive to get it working again.
  22. Can anyone comment on the camera and weather system, ease of use etc? I recently purchased ASP4/ASCA, which both have to run alongside the sim. I am now considering Chaseplane....that also has to run alongside the sim. I also have Trackir...running. I am ultimately trying to cut down on the number of programs running alongside the sim (not to mention the Flight1 GTN 750 and FS-FlightControl that I plan to get). So...it seems like OpusFSI can at least kill 3 birds with one stone, but I can't find much (review wise) on the product.
  23. Thanks for the response. Can I set up hotkeys in chaseplane to switch views? Also, I assume that this has to be running at all times to work.
  24. I have been looking at Ezdok and wonder if there are any other camera tools available. I mainly want custom views in VC to pitch down a little during approach etc; and set default zoom levels and adjust eyepoints that save with the aircraft without me having to edit cfg files. I also need this utility to work with TrackIR. Also, does ezdok need to run constantly after a view has been set?
