  1. Watercooling my cards is the next upgrade for my rig and I'm glad to see it paid off here. Any reason you went this route and not a custom loop?
  2. More like your engine will blow or melt from running too lean and or too much ignition timing but I'm with you B)
  3. Best news I've heard all year. My two 980's are ready and waiting........
  4. It will probably be like every other Carenado, supermodel looks with an IQ of 2. It's quite sad that they are so close but yet so far but as long as simmers accept and are willing to pay for mediocrity, they will continue to sell planes. Its funny that I knew this and still got the S550 but that is my last Carenado plane until they put some effort into modeling the systems properly. From what I've seen on Facebook and other forums, the Hawker is simply tragic. I have no problem paying PMDG type money to support my sim addiction but if the value isn't there, then I look elsewhere. I'll just keep on flying the CX 2.0 and the F1 Mustang for my corporate flights. B)
  5. After figuring out how to load P3D and have both cards active, my total increase in FPS was exactly....zero. What I did get is no real loss of FPS and the smoothness and performance remained pretty stable in conditions with heavy clouds and scenery texture loads would have a negative effect on my single card. At this stage in my little journey, this is not a solution I would recommend unless you're going SLI for other reasons, which I am. I did notice that overclocking the cards did help a little with FPS but again, nothing to write home about. I am also not using the latest drivers (I am at 347.88) as I don't want to lose my runway lights so I could be losing out there. Its interesting to note that opening any menu option in P3D also breaks SLI and reverts to using the primary card. I figure I must be missing a setting somewhere but I'll be damned if I can find it or figure out what causes this.
  6. Right, so second 980 was installed and tested with multiple games and bench-marking applications ( Unigine Valley and 3D Mark Firestrike) to confirm the SLI is correctly configured and is stable. Loaded up P3D and found a strange problem. The GPU load is pretty even across both cards but if I switch aircraft, only one card is loaded. I should mention that the SLI indicator shows activity when panning or changing views in the first image but freezes in that position when I changed to the Duke. This happens with any aircraft I switch to btw. See below: Initial Scenario Load: Change Aircraft: Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  7. I've ordered the second 980 and should have it by the end of the week. Good or bad, I'll post my experiences here.
  8. Must say some of the posts on Carenado's Facebook page about this product are epic. Looks like more of the same.
  9. I have the opportunity to purchase a second 980 (EVGA 980 SC) for my system and I was wondering if SLI improves the performance of P3D. I am not looking for high frames but rather want reduce choppiness and blurry textures and improve the smoothness of my flying, especially when in heavy clouds. I believe my supporting hardware is reasonable (4790K @ 4.8GHz, 16GB of 2400MHz RAM, and Windows 7 with P3D on a stand-along SSD). I should also mention that my monitor is 1900X1200 so not very demanding resolution-wise. I'm curious as to what I can expect in performance as well as any potential problems I may have getting SLI to work with P3D. I know this is a hardware question but I posted in here as my question is specific to P3D.
  10. Whew, I thought it was just me. I had 2.4 running beautifully smooth and have never been able to get 2.5 to run anywhere near as smooth, Really considering re-installing 2.4
  11. I agree with this. Doubt that will happen with their 787 and 737 both being current projects.
  12. I probably should have mentioned that I am also on P3D 2.5. What's interesting is that on the same hardware, I got better performance (same FPS but smoother) with 2.4 than I am now getting with 2.5. I can only assume that there are some things that 2.5 does differently in the background vs 2.4.
  13. I've been trying to resolve an issue with stuttering when panning. It happens in any view but is really noticeable in VC mode where panning is not very smooth. I tried pretty much everything I could think of from reducing my texture settings to deleting the shaders. I reverted to 347.52 and the problem went away. I'm curious to see if anyone experienced this issue.
  14. Works for me as well with my 980. I still have PAPI, runway, and apron lights so it doesn't appear nVidia broke anything.
  15. Good morning, Here are a few shots of our newest livery departing St. Maarten:
  16. I'm running at similar setup but OC'd to 4.8GHz. I played around with HT and found my system significantly more stable with HT disabled at both 4.6GHz and 4.8GHz. Its a little bit of a lottery with the 4790K as I have a couple of friends running it with HT enabled and they are fine. Only difference is they are running custom cooling loops.
  17. I had a similar issue in 2.4 where I could not go into TJSJ or KEWR (Taxi2Gate and Drzewiecki Design respectively) and encountered an OOM alarm with the 777. Reducing textures to medium fixed that for me and VAS usage was reduced by a couple of hundred MB. You could try that but as with anything sim related, YMMV Whats funny is that I run the same scenario in FSX and while I did get the OOM alarm, I was able to land with no issues.
  18. Very interesting. I wonder though, what is the ratio of useful feedback they receive from those customers vs us simmers?
  19. I can confirm the experiences of a number of posters here that, at least on my sim, the runway lights / PAPI lights are now working at all my test airports both standard and add-on. I do also see a noticeable increase in smoothness which is quite nice as I am accustomed to new nVidia drivers breaking things. Doing my first test flight now in the T7 and so far, it looks great even with SweetFX running.
  20. I'm curious, what does unlocking your frame rate do vs locking other than the obvious and why would you lock for some add-ons and not for others? Edit: I tried unlimited FPS with the T7 at TJSJ and am now getting over 40fps where I was lucky to get 25 before. Any info as to why this happened would be greatly appreciated.
  21. Purchased and installed the T7 for P3D last night and have a found a couple of issues so far: 1. Tried loading requesting a route and the FMS pretty much froze. Pressing any LS or alpha/num keys resulted in a 3 - 5 second wait before it did anything 2. On three occasions I could not close the cargo doors. Pressing the Close Cargo doors LS keys did nothing and required restarting P3D for them to work 3. This is not really an issue per se but I cannot seem to get the FPS past 31 even with the most settings in the middle and AA turned down. I had better FPS with the T7 in FSX. I'll be opening a support ticket with these issues but I am curious to see if anyone else has any of these issues
