  1. This is the model I was looking at http://www.netplus.com.au/product/PWPSAX-CMRPM2072/720W_CoolerMaster_Silent_Pro_M2_Modular_II_Power_Supply_ I have looked your recommended PSUs and will definitely take them into consideration. I like the look of the TX-650M. Would this be a good mobo? It is ATX and has the Z87 thingo http://www.netplus.com.au/product/MBASZ87-C/Asus_Z87-C_Intel_MB_LGA1150_USB3.0_SATA3_Haswell_Lynx_Point
  2. Ant, thanks for your pointers. The main reason I got that PSU is that it is fully modular, and it will give enough juice if I decide to get better stuff later on. I'm not 100% sure on the mobo, which is the main reason I posted, so I'm glad you brought it up. Would it be better to go with a ATX mobo as opposed to the mini-ITX? I'll also look into the Z87 chipset, as I was not aware it was neccesary to OC the CPU. The case I am using is also 2nd hand, but it is a good brand(can't remember off the top of my head) Not grabbing a CPU cooler just yet, as I'm not going to OC in the beggining, probably will later though. Would love an SSD, however I've read that they only improve load times, but not FPS/smoothness while in FSX. Might grab a Caviar Black as its only a little bit more. Was planning to buy from some local stores Netplus and Austin
  3. Thanks for the reply Jeremy. I did look at the i7s, but i am working with a farily strict budget, so the i5 will have to do. Always thought Win 7 was the better option, so I will get that.
  4. After using my current laptop for running FSX for 4 years, I've decided its time to upgrade. My main concern is the OS, and mobo. To go with Win 7 or Win 8? I think Win 7 is better but what is the community consensus? Also I was trying to keep cost down by getting a cheaper mobo, is that a good idea? Parts: i5 4670K CPU GTX 560Ti (getting this 2nd hand off a mate who just upgraded his GPU) AsRock B85M-ITX Mobo 8gb Kingston 1600mhz DDR3 RAM WD Caviar Blue 1TB 7200rpm HDD CoolerMaster 720W modular PSU LG 24' monitor Any suggestions/improvements/ideas for this build?

    ATC question

That refers to the current ATIS that the pilots have recieved. The ATIS is a weather broadcast that contains the relevent information such as wind, visibility, cloud cover, temperature etc. Whenever the ATIS is updated with new information, the letter is changed so that ATC know the pilots have the most current information on board. So "with whiskey" means that the pilots have recieved the ATIS whiskey.
  7. Near the end of August, Lars from QW said he expected us to be flying the 146s within the next 2 months. But considering the JF one is that cheap at the moment, its probably a good tie over if you're really desperate.
  8. For years I did not use either... until I found Gabriel's ENB and sky textures combo 3 months ago. Even after only using it for a week, I found I couldn't go without ENB, so it's now got a permanent home in my FSX root folder
  9. You can definately say that again! Many of my FSX problems have been solved by the great community here.
  10. I think with the volume of data that would need to be collected and interpreted, the project could take years! I have not heard of this, I thought it had to do with how far the viewpoint was from the centre of the aircraft model.
  11. Ryan posted somewhere that they had tried all possibilities to remove this 'bug' but they couldn't. The only thing I can think of that possibly might fix this is somehow programming EzDok or Opus cameras to move the view point in the opposite direction of the hard coded movement. So FSX moves the viewpoint, EzDok/Opus moves the viewpoint and you end up with a zero net movement.
  12. Have you even seen the video? Its not about bashing modern technology, its about using the technology available to its full potential in all situations while flying. If the full potential happens to be turning the AP and AT off, well so be it. I felt the same when I first watched this video. I find it especially pertinent to our flying 'environment' where we have one person trying to do the work of two (when flying tubliners anyway).
  13. Yes, unfortunatley I had a couple of issues with the streamed video also, but there are plenty of videos on Youtube if you missed it.
  14. The video streaming has just gone live at http://www.cseriesfirstflight.bombardier.com/
  15. I normally engage the AP anywhere between 5000-FL150. If on Vatsim I will engage earlier (normally at 2000 or so) so I can fiddle with the radio stack and handle the ATC. For approach I disconect the AP and AT about 10nm before LOC intercept. Again if on Vatsim i will disengage later, normally 8-10DME or so, after I have contacted the tower. Just remember, to much automation dependency will get you in a muddle if you're not careful!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3kREPMzMLk
  16. Bombardier posted this image a couple of minutes ago- The CSeries getting preped and preflighted for the first takeoff: http://ow.ly/i/3a3zt
  17. That DC-10 project looks really promising!! From the quality so far, It looks as if it will be payware, but can anyone confirm/deny?
  18. Jeroen, Thanks for putting this guide together, it made my life a lot easier!! Over the past few days, I have always flown to/from Norway to experience this great scenery. I'm sure I'll be flying there well into the future. Thanks,
  19. My thoughts exactly... Not recieving the same amount of "AVSIM hype" as the A350 was just prior to its first flight.. Boy am I envious of you!! If you end up getting a video, could upload it please? I am 13hrs ahead of Montreal, so I'll probably miss it.
  20. Bombardier announced yesterday the first flight for their new CSeries Aircraft is scheduled for this Monday, September the 16th. The days events will be viewable through the live web stream and include a press conference after the first flight. A live video stream will be available from http://www.cseriesfirstflight.bombardier.com/ I am excited to see this aircraft finally move to the testing phase, but slightly disappointed as it means an end to Swiss operating the RJ100.
  21. Congrats Richard! A very worthy recipient of this award.
