  1. Another vote for the QW package, it's definitely my go-to short range airliner. Not too complex that it takes 45min to set up, but enough system depth to keep it interesting.
  2. The strict quarantine and customs laws in Australia are also a facor that need to be considered when diverting, especially for international flights. There was this incident last year, when a flight diverted to Kalgoorlie, but then couldn't return to Perth even though the weather had cleared, because the crew had been on duty too long. As Kal doesn't have scheduled international arrivals, this left the passengers stranded on the plane until customs and immigration officers got there (7hr drive) to clear them for entry. They finally arrived in Perth roughly 18hrs after they were scheduled to. In my eyes, the remoteness of WA is one of the resons why it is so beautiful, but it obviously can throw up some unique and challenging situations for flight operations.
  3. Didn't even visit the best part of Aus Kyle :P You think over east doesn't have any airports, try flying in WA!
  4. I don't have EZdok, but my understanding is it shouldn't interfere with the switch clickspots. It may interfere with the Realview VC clickspots, but they can be turned off in the config program.
  5. Definately has been some interesting weather around here lately. Definately, worth it I would think. Especially when you consider that the fog was affecting airport operations for just over six hours and that roughly 45 aircraft were delayed or diverted. Obivously smaller aircraft can divert to places closer to Perth, but it's still a pain for the airline and the pax.
  6. Yes, this is a thing that just happens sometimes. I am sure I read somewhere (duke manual maybe?) that if you reload the aircraft it will fix this missing clickspots. I will see if I can find where I saw this. edit: I found it! Wasn't in the duke manual, but on the Avsim review for the Duke, about 1/3 of the way down; "Click Spots and Missing Click Spots". http://forum.avsim.net/page/index.html/_/reviews/aircraft/v2-piston-duke-from-realair-simulations-r1867
  7. Externally I think they look pretty good, but I definitely agree with the cockpit/yoke comments. Razbam are developing an ATR, so I doubt PMDG would do one as well (same situation as the no 757 due to LDS, but lets not go there)
  8. At the moment, definately the RealAir Duke v2. I picked it up the other day and I can't believe I waited so long before I bought it. Great GA addon!
  9. Downloaded and tested this gauge this morning, excellent job! Really adds immersion until the devs can integrate a WX radar into their nav displays.
  10. Since the radar uses radio waves to detect the precipitation(if you don't know how this works, youtube it), it emits electromagnetic radiation. If it isn't turned off, the electromagnetic radiation will "cook the rampies" in a similar way to a microwave cooking food. And Kyle was quicker....
  11. If you like Norway you should check out the excellent Norway freeware packages, as detailed in this thread http://forum.avsim.net/topic/430091-norway-updated-v2-fsx-and-p3d/ Might seem like a daunting task to get it installed, but it's definately worth it.
  12. I came across this neat video today which shows what Ralph taught us in the ground school course in action on a real 737(although they did a CATII, the same ideas apply). I think the two videos complement each other very nicely! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bm02l989PUw
  13. Pretty much this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wingtip_vortices and this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condensation
  14. Very bottom of any AVSIM page, left hand corner. Click "change theme" select "AVSIM mobile".
  15. Rob, That TQ just to the right of the Saitek one, could you please tell me what it is. Looks very solidly built and love that it has reverser levers(that's what they look like anyway), which have been missing from my sim experience for quite a while now. Might have to pick one up if you would recommend it. Thanks,
  16. Hi Tom I can see the increased speed of AVSIM on my PC now that Tapatalk is gone, definitely a good thing for the overall community! Not sure if it's possible, but if it is, would you please consider adding a "Topics I've participated in" section to the AVSIM mobile theme? This is a feature that I use quite a lot(I used the Tapatalk "Participated" section aswell), however it's a pain to use on my tablet, as I have to switch to the AVSIM normal theme, which doesn't work very well on my tablet. It's the only feature I really miss on the mobile theme. Thanks
  17. Ok, good news and bad news. Bad news is I can't find the ones from my recent flight, around 6 months ago. Good news is I have some from 2010. Not sure if they are too old for your requirements though. Sent from my GT-P5210 using Tapatalk
  18. The last time I flew Qantas was sometime ago, but I'll have a check through my stuff and see if I can find it anywhere. Being an avgeek I do like to keep these things! Sent from my GT-P5210 using Tapatalk
  19. I found out what I hope is the problem at my end. When I updated my cleaner software it automatically rechecked the "clean tapatalk" option(had it unticked before), clearing the cookies from it. Others might want to check this aswell. Thanks ANZ and Tom for pointing me in the right direction. Sent from my GT-P5210 using Tapatalk
  20. Same issue here. Because of the inconsistencies that are occurring between users I'm tempted to say it's due to Tapatalk version or OS. I'm running Tapatalk 4.4.12 on Android 4.2.2, what about you guys?
  21. After you touch down just press the F2 key two or three times to crack open the reverser doors, but leave the engine idling. Check it on the EICAS that the REV indication goes from yellow to green, but the engine doesn't spool up.
  22. Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I'll get it this weekend. Once I have some more money saved I'll look at upgrading my GPU as well.
  23. On the LM system requirements page, it says the minimum GPU memory is 1gb. I have this, but I'm a bit hesitant on moving to p3d from FSX before getting some feedback from those who already use it with a config similar to mine. The main concern I have about the switch is my ageing 560ti. My specs are GTX 560ti i5 4670k 8gb 1600mhz DDR3 Can anyone with a similar system comment on the performance of p3dv2 compared to fsx?
