  1. Eastern Airways in North East England are flying it. Their fleet seems to include 17 JS41s.
  2. I'm not a computer geek so wont comment on your spec other than to say I use a similar notebook for all my simming with same products and am quite happy. What I would recommend is you invest in extra cooling. By this I mean that I have a desk stand with a fan and also a lap tray with two fans. The computer will get hot when working hard. If you like, search AVSIM for another thread where I named my two items. Enjoy.
  3. I may be wrong but the 20% off boxed products will be FSX. So you spend 80% and when you decide to go P3d you've wasted that money AND have to pay full price $140? for 777 and probably similar for 777 NGX in a few months / years when you go to P3d. Again I may be wrong but if you read PMDG's product update posting just yesterday in the PMDG General forum there seem to be delays or problems updating DVD versions I.e boxed sets. Further advice - try the FSX basic 737 for a few hours.. Multiply the quality and experience say three fold. Watch a few YouTube videos of Froogle in NGX - then you'll know if you want PMDG 737 NGX! Dean
  4. QUESTION Or does it just come with its own set of problems and I would just be looking at a different sideof the same tweakville coin? MY ANSWER I rarely have any P3d problems with add ons. There are few tweaks, I suppose because the good stuff gets adopted in updates by LM. I spend zero time tweaking P3d. QUESTION Separate question: you say "I'm obviously not a student"... Is this because of something I don't know about you like your professional activity? Because if not, you know age doesn't really matter in terms of if someone decides to become a student/enroll in something... ) MY ANSWER I meant my age! The licence conditions are quite clear. If you are prepared to spend on Orbx and A2A you need to budget to buy the right P3d licence in my opinion. What you save buying correctly now should allow you to do this. There's a good thread about this (featuring me) elsewhere: http://forum.mutleyshangar.com/index.php/topic/15285-prepar3d-professional-license/?fromsearch=1 NOT READY FOR PMDG YET? Believe me you will be soon then you are at the crossroads! Don't forget PMDG 777 goes up in price soon. Prepar3d offers a 30 day money back guarantee / trial period I think. So try it! Cheers Dean
  5. I've been in flight sim for 20 years through several generations of MS Flight simulators. All that stopped dead with FSX. FSX is certainly fine for now but where will we be in 10 years time? I changed to P3d professional edition (because I'm obviously not a student) 8 months ago. I love it. Less crashes. Faster loading. Knowledge that it's developing is reassuring. In my view, get into P3d NOW before you spend more on 'FSX only' licences. Buy the new PMDG P3d offerings as they come available hopefully all at offer prices. Buy the A2A aircraft (and a few select others like Aerosoft Airbus with joint licences). If you don't do it now and you are serious about simming you'll probably end swapping to P3d and paying twice for them. Take a long term view of your hobby and make the change to P3d now is my advice. Enjoy.
  6. The second is the Freighter version. PMDG does not like loading same model twice. Try changing from one 777 to another Default aircraft then load the other 777. Hope this works. Dean
  7. Not at computer now but think you select right button of 4 then open and then close that section. Should work then.
  8. Have you used the GTN configure tool? Should be on desktop or start menu?
  9. Hi Daryl P3d has a refund policy I think it 14 or 30 days so you can try it on your system. Don't watch frame rate counter as even on low numbers you may experience smooth simulation on screen. FTX Global and Vector are great. Ultimate Traffic 2 works great Airbus is good. I use Opus FSI plus REX textures for weather and camera views. Enjoy. Dean
  10. Janek's mods and the ISG guages are superb. However for handling the radios and transponder and having a good visual the GTN 750 would be nice as a pop up and in Bert's MFD location. 'Icing on the Cake'. Cheers all. Dean
  11. Yes it works well now with his original guidance. Make sure you read the pdf guides especially for FMC and MCU. They are in ISG folder and will help you press buttons in the right order! MCU should accept data input (like altitudes and Direct To's by arrow clicks or keyboard (after pressing special key). Mine won't read recognise keyboard- any ideas anyone? Janek. Thanks again. Is there any way to locate the MCU in virtual panel anywhere? Dean
  12. +1 - briiliant - can't wait for next instalment!
  13. I installed it from Janek's guide and it was easy - just a matter of taking a backup copy of the Panel config then replacing it with the entire text provided. The autopilot flies well once switched to FMC guidance. VNAV will accept only one altude route target at once. I'm really happy with it as it is - and I'm looking forward to Janek's promissed enhancements.
  14. Totally agree with you and hoping for some clarity! Dean
  15. Hi I bought this after your original post. It fits really well. The EADI and EHSI are so much clearer. Your tip on long route plan imports will certainly help - thank you. Question 1 - on your FMC - does the unit allocate planned altitudes at waypoints for VNAV? I reviewed the JS41 FMC video (which is I understand is the same unit) but couldn't get the levels filling in? Question 2 - the small MCU surprised me as I've not seen that before. Do you know of a video showing it's use - in aircraft? Thanks again. Dean edit- I've just seen the excellent guides in the ISG folder (you mentioned) so my answers may be there!
  16. I use the Targus one at £17 from Amazon ((UK). It's comfortable and quiet. If you turn it over you can use it as a normal lap tray to eat off or work on! I do have a metal sloping one from Akasa for on my table if simming there. It's a bit noisier. Dean
  17. Nice video. Can you tell us how much the disc cost Thanks
  18. Can you explain how you replaced MFD with GTN 750 in VC please???
  19. Thanks Bill P3d Root folder/carenado has them neatly filed away ready to study. Grey cells not connecting properly this morning!
  20. I've installed this in P3d and it flies well but I cant find any manuals installed? Looked: 1) start menu 2) Sim objects / aircraft / Citation folder 3) App data. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Thanks Dean
  21. I've not come across this unit before. How easy is it to install? Just out of interest what other payware aircraft do you use it in? Thanks Dean
  22. Took the Citation for a 'quick spin' and now it's time to read up what I should be doing - after adding the GTN 750 of course. I'm sure it's obvious but I can't find the manual!!!
  23. Mindstar works great in PC12 with twin 530 gauges. The upper one pops up to 2D which is easier to use especially on right hand knob - in my experience. Dean
  24. Thanks Rob. What a great way to start the day! Inspiring for those of us who couldn't download last night. Dean
