  1. The world does not revolve around PMDG and co. If you are happy with what you have, stick to what you have. Nobody is forcing you. You are missing out on the fact that some of those addons might not be needed in the new sim, you might find that what it offers is enough for now or that new developers might start releasing new planes and addons for it (not necessary being the same ones you used to). It's the beauty of having a choise of different flight simulators with different features and offering. If you want another P3D, stick to the original. I personally do not.
  2. Aren't they the devs who took on forever to deliver their Airbus? If it is like this, it's no surprise that before doing something that takes years again they consider what happens with Microsoft. Also all those who are worried about their current addons can still play their current addons in their current sims and be happy and let new platforms take on new challenges and hopefully improvements without the worry of backward compatibility.
  3. PMDG had a secret project for a long time too, and it was that organization thingy addon. I seriously doubt that Active Sky has a secret project on MFS, especially since MFS seems to have noise generated clouds and the whole Active Sky history has been with 2d textures clouds. Besides that, it's a multi billion company. No one in the addon industry is irreplaceable for them (hence why my point in other topics about addon developers thinking they are a bit too important) And i seriously hope we are not dragging down a new simulator with old tech like billboard 2d clouds.
  4. I am on Avsim because this is an interest of mine. An interest i can further develop thanks to videogames who gives an idea of what is like to fly a plane, but it isn't the real thing and it will never will. No matter how many PMDG aircrafts you buy or if you put a captain hat in your basement on a newly built cockpit. I understand the limitations of what i am doing and why i am doing it, some others in this topic and elsewhere imho are a bit too much into it. A developer for another game which involved tanks, when asked to have x y z features added to its game to make it more "realistic", had the most beautiful answer i found. And i think it applies here too. "You want more realism? Join the Army". Same for us: You want more realism? Buy a pilot license and fly.
  5. You are wrong and basing it on your personal view. Here is mine, opposite to yours. I play videogames, i always played them. In a way this gave me even an insight about what modern game engines are capable of compared to the usual running excuse you hear around here and other places regarding the fact that our sims run the whole earth in 3d, apparently without considering the fact that not the whole earth is drawn on screen at the same time. But anyway, i enjoy flight simulators the way elitist simmers want them, and yet i also enjoy videogames. Why? Because both can be fun. Liking one thing doesn't mean you cannot like the other one, it's a very elistist and narrow minded way of looking at things, especially since those are two world which are not in conflict with each other. You are also stereotyping Xbox players, or games to this extent, as someone who just want to go pew pew and blow things up. Besides, the whole point is that XBox players can enjoy a flight game instead of having to buy a whole PC, just like PC people can use videogames without having to buy an XBox. Gamers don't give a quack about simmers. it's only this narrow minded elististic mindset that simmers have who seems to have a superiority complex based on a videogame they play on their pc because they made different life decisions compared to real plane pilots (for different reasons).
  6. That's because Xbox is the gaming division/brand Microsoft uses, and not just the console anymore.
  7. Confession time: to this date i don't really see why the DLC issue keeps popping up. Are addon developers working for a charity? Because i thought they have been selling Downloadable Content for years now. Eh, but Microsoft/DTG is evil. How dare they sell addons for Flight back then and then FSX-SE and then FSW. 😛 Ahh, the community.
  8. Only thing i can see is how Google 3d map is more detailed than Bing one. Most cities in Italy are in 3d on Google, but not on Bing..
  9. Here is another example of a business trying to protect itself to possible negative events, especially considering theirs is linked to the ones of PMDG and co. I think addon developers which shows this are giving themselves a bit too much value. They are not irreplaceable, and with a new game, new audience and new players can also come new developers. Microsoft is building their sim. Theirs. This is not a joint Microsoft + addon developers effort. And we sure as hell saw, during the years, how addon developers also lacked knowledge and resources to do their own simulator. I also think that Microsoft has plenty of time to contact them, if they want, and more importantly release more info about the game itself and a possible/probable SDK. The game will be out in more of a year, there will surely be closed alpha, closed betas and public betas and it's likely that our feedback (and theirs) will be listened to by then, provided it isn't too different from what Microsoft view of their new simulator is. As usual, my two cents.
  10. Am i the only one who doesn't care about getting existing addons into this new sim? I'll rather see something new. I can use old stuff on old sims.
  11. Perhaps. or Perhaps i remember the issues Flight, FSX-SE and FSW had with developers and the whole deal with Microsoft/DTG going to take a percentage of the earnings. The part i was referring to either way is the one in which he states that Microsoft will raid space in which the customers addons resides (aircraft, airports etc) and later on when he says that Microsoft is a business and is not entering this business sector out of altruism. Is PMDG in this sector because of altruism? Is Randazzo saying what he is saying out of altruism for the customers, for the simmers or because he has a business which will be affected by Microsoft actions?
  12. Some points from Randazzo are valid, others are just Randozzo's points shown to the public to protect his company interests. In the lower part of his statement he is sort of giving the idea that Microsoft is jumping in to make money, while apparently PMDG is a charity doing its things for the greater good. I would also remind everyone that without Microsoft we woudn't have had probably the most iconic flight simulator series on pc. They don't lack resources nor capabilities, so now it's just a matter of waiting to see what they are actually up to and what their product will be like (since so far we are on a speculation trip). I started using it when i was a teenager with FS98 when i was 9 years old and i am still in the flight simulator genre now at almost 30 years old. I think they deserve a bit of faith. Plenty of time to negatively judge them.
  13. 11.35b2 is available with some fixes i guess
  14. Yeah, because FSX wasn't a plane game or FS9 😛
  15. Those worried about that can stay in P3D, where they are supposely happy since they invested so much in it and not drag down development of other games because they are not ready to play more than a sim and invest money on other addons 😛 That's how i think about it at least. Retro-compatibility has always been a bad thing for the development of the platforms and is more of a drag than anything. I can't use my favourite plane in a platform? patience, i'll buy something else for it and enjoy it too. Or stick to the platform which has what i want to play with.
  16. Was there a statement from Aerosoft so far regarding that Airbus?
  17. Scroll to the bottom of that page and you'll find: Platform Xbox, Windows 10
  18. It's good but it needs a helicopter too. hopefully with decent flight dynamics and not what FSX/P3D offers.
  19. You might want to check what Project Scarlett is, since it has been announced in the same E3 event in which the flight simulator was 🙂
  20. + You guys are giving too much value to few hundred flight sim enthusiasts like we are. Do you really think a billion dollar company cares about few hundred people? And DaWu, you seem to be clueless about the market behind gaming on console, but even on PC. It isn't bad at all. New engines are running on both platforms, especially when it's about Microsoft. And about the xbox not being powerful enough, well, the new one coming in 2020 can run games at 8k res at 120fps apparently, has a SSD and fast memory.
  21. Thank god, that is so much better. Dropping in here screens from the official site too.
  22. I already spotted elitism like messages in this topic, and well, that is no surprise. I would suggest you all to approach it with an open mind without starting to make comparison with current simulators, addons bought and money spent on them. We know nothing by now, and it is a bit sad to see the usual messages about this and that simulator not being for "simmers". They are all games, we are all playing games. And we didn't all start by being able to operate a Boeing or Airbus properly 🙂 For now the only comment i can do is about where it will be distributed. The Microsoft store is pretty meh. And the experience with Sea of Thieves showed it. Interesting enough, i see a lot of similarities with the clouds in Sea of Thives and this new flight sim.
  23. I don't share much hope in Austin statement, from what i see he is all over the place with his thoughts and actions too. We heard it all during the year too. procedural seasons, water improvements (remember those test with the waves Ben did quite some time ago?), etc etc. I am thankful for what i get but i expect only marginal things. So far xEnviro is the only offer which is different and imho aiming at noise generated clouds/volumetric ones without billboard textures, .lua workarounds and so on. So i'll keep cheering for them hoping they manage to solve their issues (they went from 2d clouds to volumetric real ones, can any other weather addon developer claim to have done that?) and with time XP, Vulkan, new configs will help in the performance department too.
