  1. Exactly. I wasn't going to say it, as this guys has a thing for me any way  ... but yes, what a ridiculous title for a thread that is just about him having a problem with shimmering ...... in any aircraft. I smell lot's of bias and agendas with our friend here. And he accuses me of circular logic lol! Son? ...... Who on Earth do you think you are? ........ You are running well above your station.
  2. Hi Rockliffe, I'm running P3D alongside FSX and always choose it for the Aerosoft Airbus, and well, for the Aerosoft everything! Aerosoft have been brilliant with P3D; they've really embraced it and provided dual installers for everything. The Aerosoft DR400 is also a hugely under-rated GA offering, easily on a par with the A2A 172 IMHO, and again I fly that in P3D, courtesy of Aerosoft's positive approach to P3D. A typical P3D usage for me would be flying the Aerosoft DR400 across FTX EU ENG and SCO, or the Airbus between a couple of European Mega Airports. The only problem I've had with P3D has been that I cannot use the FS ATC pop-up screen for some reason (it comes up corrupted). This is a known problem for some P3D users. (Hopefully fixed in V2).
  3. Yeah what a 1st post huh? But the OP's user ID causes me the most concern ...........
  4. The screenshots look mixed, Luis. The volumetric grass and some surroundings look ok, but some of the buildings look poor; like early FS9 sceneries.
  5. Fantastic! Thanks for spotting that Chris!
  6. Yes, that's exactly it. PoolSize=0 removes any pool within FSX, so the task get's dumped straight to the GPU. Of course this can be a revolutionary good thing, if you have a powerful enough GPU; it's counteract's FSX's CPU-bound nature, and results in better performance. But where the GPU cannot meet the demands put on it (for whatever reason), the result is artifacts like the OP has here.
  7. Stunning shots! (as always). Perhaps a little reduced visibility would have been even better, you know just a little haze or fading in the distance. But still beautiful!
  8. Yeah but remember all that lovely metal was punched together in Kansas!
  9. I would guess that you are using on-board sound from your PC's motherboard? (In other words you don't have a separate soundcard). This 'interruption' can happen when your PC doesn't have a very powerful on-board integrated sound device; the CPU needs to manage the conversion of digital information to analogue sound that comes out of your speakers ..... at the same time as it is doing other tasks (like complex graphics rendering). ...... this can lead to the stutter or micro pause, when the audio task is called. You can completely resolve these problems by buying a sound card that slots into a PC. It will take over all D/A conversion, so your PC's CPU will then just pass digital numbers to the soundcard, instead of having to do the far more intensive process or converting those numbers to analogue audio itself. You can get a Soundblaster sound card for about $20 / EUR 16 / £13, or even cheaper if bought used.
  10. Yes the Q400 will be the one to watch for this series IMHO, because the fidelity of the amazing simulation by Majestic will be well suited to a high fidelity training programme like this one.
  11. Thank you Ray, but the truth is that as much as someone may share like-mindedness with some users, maybe even a relatively large group, and get some nice recogintion, there are others that will hate you; such is currently the case with users like KingGhidorah and Cloudswinner who would gladly see me slip off the edge of a large chasm. ... and although I might not like it, his position is as valid as that of my buddies around here like Chris (pinlifter), Julian, Olli and co. We're all essentially like 'marmite' ; we appeal or we revolt, or something in between. I'd guess that I have a high '+1' count because I post a lot, and because there's no '-1' function here any more (thankfully!). But getting back to your core point - yes in any language and in any culture, a 'thanks' is a 'thanks'.
  12. Ha ha, KingGhidorah and Cloudswimmer have got me nailed, as always. But lighten up guys, it's all just entertainment and we have this hobby in common, depsite our differences, so we can't be that far apart. :Peace:
  13. I agree, 3 GB should be fine. I run PoolSize=0 with a ATI 7850 2GB. It could sometimes be things like; your PSU being underpowered for the video card, or that the power socket isn't quite plugged in properly. Or else heat can restrain the performance of a GPU, so maybe try unplugging it out of the PC case and vacuuming, before carefully plugging it back it. Also check that the fan is spinning ok. Not much to go on I know, but it's a strange one! What's the power output of your PSU ? It could be that the only approach is to set everything to minimum (including AA/AF), and use a fresh CFG, and then introduce increased settings and tweaks one at a time, 'til you can see where the problem arises.
  14. Yes! ..... I bloody love a good bit of floatyness Iain!
  15. A number of things can indirectly cause that to happen, but they are all directly caused by your GPU becomming maxed out. Often, the cause is people using the [PoolSize=0] tweak, when they do not have a powerful enought Graphics Card. I can see from the screenshot that you have 3 GB of Video RAM, but size is not everything, if the rest of the GPU specs are bottlenecking the card's performance. First test would be to remove ('//') the Buffer Pools tweak from your CFG and go back into FSX and see if it is still happening. Which specific model of the ATI 7900 do you have ('7900' is the range number, but you will have a specific model, eg 7950, 7970, etc). Generally speaking, what you have there usually means your visual settings are too high and your GPU is failing to render properly.
  16. Ah, those are just discontinuities. You can click on the 'Delete' or 'Clear' button and then click on the gaps and everything will join back together. The unusual entries are constraints and descent points etc. If you're still stuck maybe show a screenshot if you can, and we'll get you sorted!
  17. Ah that makes sense as I did have a couple of 'dead' routes for the AXE when using Simbrief. Hence, I think Simroutes is safer for pure FP file format conversion.
  18. That's a really good point about location Ray. Knowing people's location would help to see some cultural context, as I know that some cultures don't tend to say thank you in the same context as others. But then again, it's still just a word, which like DaveGi said, helps to promote 'onward help and co-operation', so is culture really a reason for not bother to say 'thanks' ..... I'm not so sure. PS. A Gracias, Danke, Merci, or شكرا is just as welcome!
  19. The internet and social media can be thanked for some amazing positives; information sharing, medical application, resource sharing, security (in it's least political form!), etc, and some harrowing negative aspects; mass dissemination of poor role modelling and poor moral and ethical behaviours, hate spreading, bullying, etc. They probably cancel eachother out. I believe all of our current societal and social problems are down to the fact that our human nerve-based learning system is evolving faster than our ability to truly empathize. The result being, an exponentially increasing sense of ego and sense of 'self', far overtaking our ability to empathize. Not sure what we could do about that.
  20. Mitch, what are we gonna do with you! ...... I'm only joking mate, you're dead right. I'm not quite back with you on DX10 but I have got some pretty special ENB settings going at the moment in DX9, and have some pretty magical stuff going in.
  21. There wasn't one iota of defensiveness in Rob's reply IMHO. If you meant the part that I've bolded, well he's right.... dead right. You seem to think that you people who want to nit-pick are entitled to do so, but those that challenge your nit-picking or give an opinion that the product is really great and doesn't warrant the nitpicking, aren't allowed a voice......... I have bought this product too ........... and it is faultless; no broken rudder, where some users values are suddenly better than RealAir's proven values, no 'bits of the windshield that don't look right compared to a fish eye lense YouTube video', nothing. If you love high quality flight sim, people, just buy this - the usual nit pickers would nit pick if they were delivered with a real Duke to their home addess........ seriously they would.. @ Ryan - beautiful pics!
  22. .....don't people just have the choice? .. enter waypoints 'til your hearts content if you wish, but some have limited time and don't wish to spend it typing waypoints into a CDU.
  23. Is it just me, or do a lot of people fail to see opportunities to say thanks on the forums now, where someone has clearly taken some time to explain something in detail, or to try to help someone. I'm not talking just from the perspective of my own posts, I see many posts where a user has really gone the extra mile explaining something or helping someone, and it's so often followed by a reply like "Ok, I'll try that", or not acknowledged at all; the person being helped just moved on to something else without offering any gesture of thanks. I've seen people point this out before, and they've actually been bashed for even suggesting it. But it makes no sense to me; why people don't spend a fraction of a second offering the word 'thanks' around here more often. It seems like it's perhaps part of the culture of 'expectation' that it could be argued exists these days. People demand and expect a lot, rather than politely asking and then thanking for. Oh I don't believe it's an age thing either BTW... this isn't a 'bash those pesky young folks' post - often quite the opposite. It just seems that some people feel no need or inclination to say 'thanks' where they've been helped or supported in some way.
