  1. I thought from your post that you were trying to load an existing flight plan into the FMC, but now I'm thinking that you're actually just wanting to know how to enter a fight plan yourself? This is not done using the CO ROUTES field..... that field is solely for using with the process I outlined in my reply to you. (loading an existing route). If you need just general help on how to get your flight plan set up in the FMC (eg.. a new flight plan or copying in the default FSX flight plan) then that it all outlined in the manual. You start by entering the origin and destination ICAO airport fields with a '/' between them in the top right hand side of the INIT page. If there are no existing flight plans for those destinations in the database, you then just hit 'return'. Now go to the FPLAN page and enter all waypoints. After this, return to the INIT pages to complete them. Note that you won't get V speeds in the PERF page until you have selected a departure runway. In the Airbus this is done by clicking on the departure ICAO that's listed in the flight plan page. (Eg, there is no DEP/ARR page).
  2. Definitely. I use SimBrief for all of my properly planned NGX, AXE and Q400 flights. But if I just want a quick and dirty flight plan conversion, I use Simroutes. Thanks lol! - Neither pic is me, just that Vic Mackey (The Shield) has replaced Dexter Morgan
  3. Yes thanks, going to check that out mate  PS... I've got a great payware flight video of a flight from Denver to Telluride in a B350... I'd recommend it to any fans of mountain flying! http://www.flightsimstore.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=73&products_id=413
  4. Yes that's about the same here but Simroutes takes no more than 5 seconds to return the same conversion on my end. Of course, to re-iterate, I am purely just talking about the flight conversion to PMDG format process. SimBrief does tons of other good stuff (fuel planning etc) that is well worth the 90 sec wait. But purely for PMDG FP conversion, I find Simroutes a lot quicker Yes, that is definitely still the fastest way of achieving it! ...... I always seem to forget to save my routes though!
  5. Nothing better than this technique, in my opinion. Perhaps that's why I've ended up with 41 Just Planes and ITVV DVDs sitting on my shelf! Some can be mediocre and disappointing but when you get a good one, they're really great. Saying that, very much looking forward to seeing what Airline2Sim offer. Looks and sounds very professional
  6. You can enter a full flight plan into a CDU, quicker than you can click on a file and add '001' to it's name. Wow! This is really just about choice though. It's pretty obvious that people can enter a flight plan manually into a PMDG FMC, but I gave a clear reasoning for the post; I'd seen people talking about buying a EUR 41 product, just to be able to convert flight plans into PMDG's format. Sometimes I prefer to enter the FP manually, but this wasn't a debate about which is best, it was because at least some people did not know that you can convert to PMDG flight plan format, using a single free resource, with the one further requirement of adding '001' to the end of the file name. Cool  ... you do get the pretty map with Simroutes also though.. I did start using SimBrief and it is an excellent tool, but for me, it was taking an age to calculate and produce it's output. So I went back to Simroutes for converting FPs to PMDG format as I find it a lot quicker - but Simbrief certainly gives more dispatch info!
  7. I saw a post yesterday where someone said that they were thinking of buying PFPX purely to "save flight plans in the PMDG formats" to save time. I therefore thought I'd post to mention in case anyone did not know, that you can in fact save flight plans for the PMDG aircraft (NGX and 777), that can be loaded directly from the FMC -for FREE! * I have not included the MD-11 in the above list because it can load default FSX flight plans. I've not included the JS41 because I don't use it. I have not included the 747 because I have not tried / tested in yet, but I am sure it will work too. The website that will provide you with .RTE flight plans for use in PMDG aircraft is Simroutes, but please note, there are some manual naming actions that have to be done with the flight plan, before they will work! Now, the first thing is that although Simroutes does contain some of it's own flight plan routes, it's only for the more common routes, so you probably need to create a flight plan route first. You could do this using the default FSX flight planner if you wish, or even better, using :- http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ Once you have a flight plan route in an abbrievated format (thats the format that has the ICAO airport codes, the waypoints, and the airway, eg. EGNT DCT RAPUM UP16 CROFT POL DCT EGNM ), simply go to Simroutes and enter it into this page :- http://www.simroutes.com/fb2/ParseRoute.aspx IMPORTANT! - You need to enter the two airport ICAO's separately in their fields, not in the main "Route" field. - You need to make sure you MISS OUT the words "SID" or "STAR" if they are written in your abbrieviated flight plan - Do not use the dropdown "SID" or "STAR" fields.... leave these, and choose SIDs and STARs in the FMC. Ok, so once you have followed the above instructions to enter the abbrievated flight plan into Simroutes press the "Generate" button. Now take a look down the various rows of information on the next screen until you see the word DISPATCH. Look along from here to where you see a dropdown list and "Download Flight Plan". Select "PMDG" on the dropdown list, and press "Download Flight Plan" When the flight plan downloads (it will be in RTE formal) drag it to your desktop (we're not done yet! .... it currently won't work in modern PMDG releases!). OPTIONAL: If you also want the flight plan in default FSX format (for FSX ATC), select that from the dropdown list too, hit the "Download Flight Plan" button again, and place the downloaded .PLN file in your Flight Simulator X Documents folder. Ok, now, you need to double click on the downloaded .RTE flight plan to Rename it. You need to leave the file name just as it is, but add 001 at the end. Eg.. a .RTE file called EGNTEGNM, would become EGNTEGNM001 Now place this file into the appropriate folder:- NGX C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS\NGX 777 C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS\777 Now, load up FSX and go to the NGX / 777. Power up the aircraft and go to the FMC's RTE (or Route) page. In the CO ROUTE field, enter the name of the flight plan you just created. Remember the '001' part, and remember not of course, to include the '.RTE' file extension! ............ So in my example I would have entered EGNTEGNM001 into the NGX or 777's FMC RTE page's CO ROUTE field. Hit enter, and enjoy your flight plan. If you also made a default FSX .pln version of the flight plan, go to the FSX Planner, hit 'Load' and load the flight plan you created and put into the Flight Simulator X Documents folder. I know most people are aware of the above, but hopefully it will help some that were not.
  8. I enjoy them both equally. They have enough contrasts and differences to make them equally enjoyable; both in the real world and in FSX. PS... Can't honestly say I find any plane 'sexy' !! ......... but each to their own!
  9. You cannot load up a default FSX flight plan in the Airbus X Extended. You can however, follow this process, which is what I do. This process will give you 3 benefits:- It will give you a flight plan that you can load straight up in the Airbus Extended, without having to manually enter the way points. It will give you a proper realistic based flight plan (unlike the default FSX plans which are very unrealistic in Europe). It will give you the option of also having your new realistic flight plan in default FSX plan format, in case you also use FSX ATC. Firstly, use http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ and then take the abbrieviated flight plan (that's the bit at the bottom that looks something like this:- EGNT DCT RAPUM UP16 NOKIN UN862 RETSI STAR EGGD - eg. it contains the ICAO codes, waypoints and airways), then copy and paste that into either of these free utilities :- ================================= simpler option: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/files/file/2058-axe-company-route-editor/ Or; more complex but more features: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/files/file/1993-convaxe/ ================================= .. either of these will then save the flight plan you made in rfinfer above, into the AXE's FMC and it can be loaded using the CO ROUTES field in the FMC. If you also use FS ATC, and want the same plan in FSX flight planner, you can use copy the same abbrieviated route that you made in rfinder and paste it into :- http://www.simroutes.com/fb2/ParseRoute.aspx ...... which can then output the route in default FSX planner format (so you can place it in your FSX documents and also load the flight plan in FSX too). Hope this helps.
  10. I could never get much sense out of that particulat mod either, and it's currently left out of my CFG.
  11. What a load of rubbish, as FSCamp said, who is not accepting your negative posts? PC Aviator are the publisher of this product - don't you expect them to give a counter view to your negative one? It seems you just want to make a negative point and then no-one is allowed to respond to that ....... why would that happen? Some people are so keen to 'reserve their right to moan, twist, complain and be negative' about products around here .............. sure, that is your right. .... but those of us who support and appreciate development within this hobby, are just as entitled to counter your negativity.
  12. Nice eye candy. But of course, the RealAir Duke 2.0 has just been released, with exceptional eye candy, sound and flight characteristics - making it a little harder to justify a Carenado purchase at the moment. Saying that, the C208 is my favourite Carenado product, so perhaps..........
  13. I agree, but why from US soil? ...... You made a fantastic point about the Universe, scale and perspective, but then closed with words to the effect of and preferably from my little part of the universe  Would it not be good if say the Chinese or Japanese made some fantastic astronomical breakthroughs, or the Indian's got a man on the moon? Until we lose the shackles of obsession with our 'national state' (an artificial boundary if ever there was one), we can't really preach 'Universalism'. Please don't take this challenge personally or offensively - I'm part way through an English Literature degree and my current mindset is 'programmed' to challenge these sorts of views - of course all of my views are equally challengeable too.
  14. Cool, thanks for those pointers...... I think you have inspired me.
  15. Yes agree, certainly in the UK, cheap reality TV that sensationalizes bad behaviour, and the narcisstic 'z list' celebs, such poor role models most of them, are destroying any sense of good morals and ethics..... Just watch BBC3 on an evening...... (or rather don't if you value your time on this planet). Seriously? Didn't the rather evil genocidal leader of Germany in the early 40s take a similar view to that? ....... The answer is not uber-right wing human selection surely, it's more education and specifically the education of the benefits of holding inner values and 'doing the right thing'..... not because an old book tells you that a god will send you to hell if you don't ......... but because being good to people is good for them, and you.
  16. Exactly. Especially where hardware differences (eg. ATI versus nVidia) are concerned. My report of my findings was not intended to put anyone off buying the Fixer. I'd recommend it is worth buying it per se. My report was only on complex airliners on my system. What that report does not say is that I get stunning performance in DX10 when flying lighter GA aircraft, so I use the DX10 Fixer in those cases.
  17. Wow! Stunning. So what scenery package is this for the Canaries?
  18. Yeah but he's not the only one; the usual rivet counters have showed up to pick banal faults with an otherwise perfect model. I don't know why some people ever buy any add-ons, when even those close to perfection seem to disappoint. Rockcliffe - You can indeed leave V1.5 in place, and intstall V2 as additional aircraft, however I can't really see the point. As good as V1.5 was, it's unlikely you'll fly those models again once you've flown V2.
  19. Of course that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But that would personally never stop me from enjoying all the fantastic fun features that this new v2.0 package offers.
  20. This is just a lovely video to watch through, from any perspective :smlie: From the plugging in of the GPU and the engineer switching the EXT PWR button, to the great mood, vibe and excitement of all of the crew and support staff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwBvsmJtasU
  21. I had serious elevation problems with Pack 1 :( (Van Nuys sitting in a huge abyss!)..... I believe this may be because I use FS GLOBAL (terrain add-on). Anyone else using a global terrain add-on along with FTXG and these airports, and seeing (or not seeing) this problem?
  22. I'm not defending the price, and agree it's really excessive..... but to be fair the exchange rates and cost of living in Japan come into the equation. If you look at the Aerosim scenery add-ons, they too appear very, very, expensive but I don't think it's the case that all Japanese people are are greedy; I suspect that if you compare exchange rates and cost of living, a EUR 40 sale probably equates to a EUR 25 sale to the Japanese. ....it does however pretty much price out their products for the most of us, who cannot afford these Godzilla prices! ........OR, my theory above is completely wrong and the few developers of Japanese scenery that we do have are cashing in on supply and demand : charging higher prices because there is so little competition! If that's the case; come on FlyTampa, come Aerosoft ; get some Japanese sceneries made !
  23. /\ /\ /\ /\ The video displays a 'fish eye' effect, to the lense, so the windscreen frame and it's angle are distorted in that video, as compared to in real life.
  24. I have the elevation issues also..... really screwed up ground placements and textures as a result. If you use default terrain, you'll be fine with this but if you use an add-on terrain (I use FS GLOBAL 2010), forget it. The developer is just not interested in making it compatible with more accurate terrain for the area. I saw that swapping VABB and VAJJ on the Scenery Library did improve (lessen) the problems but did not resolve them, and I still have bizarre objects and markings all over the taxiways and aprons. :(
